My older and younger brother are both wrestlers. They have both used several "crash" methods to loose a large amount of weight in a very short time, with very negative health repercussions. These methods are very, very dangerous, and should NOT be used.

Laxatives or water pills
Aaron used to run in a trash bag suit to help sweat
Not eating
Working out in full sweat gear
Eating Jolly Ranchers to accumulate spit

These are all horrible ways to loose weight. It's very temporary, and the first time you get a glass of water, then you'll gain most of it back.

Don't try any of these out. They will not work, you will feel bad, and you will hate yourself later. Trust me.

These types of methods are widely used in competitive sports, particularly powerlifting and any form of competitive martial arts. Basically any sport that requires weight divisions use these methods. The point is, lower as much weight as possible (mainly water, as water takes up most of the weight of your body) for the weigh in, and then drink gallons and gallons of water and electrolye drinks afterwards to get back to your original (or even heavier weight).

The idea is, if you lower your weight division by manipulating your water weight and then go back up to your normal weight then that means you have an advantage over winning, whether it be being a heavier opponent in martial arts or being 'lighter' in powerlifting but moving more weight (in powerlifting, the lighter you are and the heavier you lift the stronger you are).

Again, as you said, they arn't the best form of losing weight as you will put it back on almost immedietly. Tbh i haven't heard of most of the methods above (except for working out in sweat gear and maybe laxatives/diuretics) but this is the reality of competitive sports unfortuently.
