I don't know if this is in the right subforum or not, but the variety of threads led me to place this thread here. Sorry if this should be somewhere else. sweatdrop
I have an illiterate sister (Who is sitting right across from me now at the Atlanta Bread), who just can't seem to structure a sentence properly when she speaks (She always stutters, mispronounces, and misuses words), and whenever we argue about something, she can't seem to come up with a decent insult. I've tried to teach her to be literate, and she should be, she's incredibly smart and she's going into the sixth grade; so shouldn't she be able to use literacy instead of sounding like an uneducated hic? And how can I teach her to be literate?
Help, please!?!?!?

I come from a family of very smart people (my father has been a member of high IQ societies), this includes my younger brother who is a self taught programmer who still has trouble with spelling and sometimes I notice a very uncomfortable number of incorrect words on his blog posts- generally things like you're for your since I'm pretty sure he uses a spell checker.
My daughter in incredibly word-smart, and incredibly math dumb. I was speaking to people at her school and mentioned that I believe my daughter to be both gifted and learning disabled. Apparently this is fairly common.
Don't be too hard on your sister, some brains just have trouble processing certain types of information.
