Introduction:
Hello all. I have always wanted to be part of a traditional book club, where you read and chat about books once a month. At the moment I have a book club planned out on a monthly basis, though I am debating changing it to twice a month.
Here's a rough outline of what will happen- Book nominations will be going on from the first of the month until the nominations are due (see Calendar Below). After that there is a one week period with which to vote on the book of your choice to read for the next month.
For Example:
Between August 1st and the 10th the members would submit any books they felt would be a fun read.
Between the 11th and the 17th there would be a poll on the books with all the books listed in post five for future book choices.
On the 18th the book would be named and posted both in the first post, third post, and title.
Everyone would have until the 21st of September to pick up a copy, barrow a copy, pirate a copy, sit in a bookstore and read a copy, etc. of the book, and get through as much as they could. From the 21st until the 30th (or longer if the discussion hasn't ended) the book is open for discussion.
You will have approximately a whole month to read each book.

Post Six: Past Books, in case you missed one or are interested in what has been going on.
Current Events:
-October's Book: Scorpio. Please try to have most of this read by the 19th of October.
-Poll: The poll is up for seven days.
-Submissions: None

News
September 25th, 2008: October's Book- October's book has been chosen. Scorpio will be the book of choice for October, please pick this up from a bookstore or library if you wish to participate in the discussion.
September 16th, 2008: October book poll!- A few days late, a few dollars short, but it is up. You have 7 days give or take to vote on the book.
September 13th,2008: New Rule!-In a 4 to 2 vote, it has been decided that you cannot vote for the book you submitted.
August 30th, 2008: New Rule?-The new rule poll has started, check the first post for more information.
August 20th, 2008: Adjustments- The first post has been changed to include an example for if we had gotten started in time for a September book, and the calendar has been rolled back a month. I hope my example on the first post clarifies any questions everyone has.
August 7th, 2008: Thread Created- I've got lots of work to do. sweatdrop

Calendar/Events:
At the moment this is fairly unplanned out. This will have upcoming events and deadlines. The current event will also be showcased in the first post as well as here.
Rough outline plan:
Book suggestions to be voted on must be submitted by the second Sunday of a month.
To vote on next months book you must vote in the poll by the third Sunday of the month.
Discussion of the months book will also begin on the third Sunday of the month.
Tentative Schedule:
12, Oct. 2008-November book Submission due.
13-19, Oct. 2008-Vote for November's book.
19, Oct. 2008- Begin discussion of October's book.
16, Nov. 2008- December book submissions due.
17-23, Nov. 2008-Vote for December's book
23, Nov. 2008- Begin Discussion of November's book.

Description:A young agent for MI6 goes to Italy in search of a organization named "Scorpia." But he is dragged into the truth of the organization to be a world wide criminal group in the middle of an operation "Invisible Sword". He is dragged in between two worlds as good or evil.

Description:As far as i know it's a story about a human that falls in love with a vampire and it tells of all the struggles they must overcome along the way.

Why do you want to read this book in bookclub? I've read this book, it starts off like something in real life but it goes to fiction throughout the book... sounds boring but I got HOOKED... no lie. Aliae Rosae Book Suggestion:

Genre: Thriller
Description: Based loosely around King's own pseudonym fantasies, this is the story of a writer who has killed off his alter ego pen name and retired from writing thrillers. Unfortunately his pseudonym isn't as dead as he would have liked.

Why do you want to read this in book club:I feel this could be a great starter book for the club. It is a fun easy read, and King is a well known author. This book isn't that widely known anymore, and it has some interesting themes to be talked about

you don't have to read anything right now. Right now its the nomination stage if there are any books you want to read you post them. Then everyone votes during the stated time, and then yes, you will have to find a way of getting the book, however public libraries are free and easy.
