To whomever this apartment is assigned, This is your own place. Do with it as you wish, but you must stick to the general floorplan [as exemplified by the pics in the "About the Complex" sticky]. You may have guests over and you may move in with other residents. Keep in mind, however, that every apartment on the first and second floors has only one bedroom. The third floor contains apartments with two bedrooms. You may move to the third floor at any time [but either DeirdreTonbo or Alexis D must first be notified]. Again, feel free to personalize your apartment and alter it as you see fit. Have fun!

(( For a bit of a map... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/akai_ryu/MakotoApartmentMap.jpg )) For the most part the apartment reeks of a bachelor's quarters with mismatched and minimal furniture and next to no decorations. By the door there's a low shoe rack sitting opposite the closet. In the dining room area there is a low kotatsu and a handfull of pillows as well as the probablility of multiple dirty dishes. Hanging from the walls are weapons mounts ranging from a large broadsword in a sheath to a naginata and a rack filled with a variety of sheathed swords and wooden ones. The only other furniture in the room aside from the kotatsu is a large locked cabinet and heavy sea chest. THe kitchen is organized for the most part with a large refrigerator standing in it's slot and a can of chopsticks of varying sizes by the stove. Tucked into the cabinets are Makoto's mishmash of dishes and dry foods as well as an entire lockable cupboard dedicated to her wetbar. Sitting out on the counter is a rice cooker and tucked in the corner of the kitchen is a big fifty pound bag of rice. Facing the table and living room is a small TV set on top of a DVD player with a stack of DVDs set on it. Below it on the floor is Makoto's massive workshop toolbox. Out on the porch is a wrought iron set of table and chairs in the off chance that someone would want to sit out there. Her bedroom, however, is an entirely different matter. At one point in time all Makoto had in there was a nightstand and a futon. Since then her bed has evolved into a heavy and massive four poster mahogany thing with curtains and silk sheets. The nightstand remains, but is now a different one to match the bed and the chest of drawers stitting at the opposite wall. Tucked into the nightstand is a variety of fun things that should not be shown to children.

The doorknob to the apartment turned after the scratching sounds of a key being inserted into locks and turned echoed through the empty rooms. A moment later the door swung open and the resident of room 123 stepped in, pausing to pull the key out of the lock then close the door. Grinning slightly, Makoto peeled off the backpack and dropped it to the floor before depositing the racing helmet on the low shoe rack. Dropping to a crouch, the brunette undid laces then slipped out of motorcycle boots and dropped them beside the helmet.
The building's handy man peeled off the leather jacket and tossed it over the kitchen counter before flicking the TV on for background noise. A few moments later the brunette was headed to the shower, peeling off sweaty clothes and dropping them on the floor. Within a few moments of entering the only noise in the apartment was the news and the sound of water falling to hit the tiles of the bathroom.

Less than fifteen minutes later a quite obviously female -- as she was wearing no shirt -- Makoto strode out of the bathroom toweling off her longish brown hair in just a pair of calf-length shorts. Once she determined it wasn't going to drip all over her floor, the tall brunette set about making herself a late-night snack. Towel around her neck and just barely covering her small chest, she dropped a pot on the stove after filling it with water.
As the pot heated up, she hit the button to play back her messages on her message machine. For the most part it was dead silence when telesales called and picked up but didn't. There was a message from herself to remember that a new slew of residents would be moving in the next day and that was it. As her messages played the water boiled and the tall woman stirred miso into the small pot.
Leaving it to boil, she turned off the heat and dug out a slab of tofu from her fridge as well as a knife from a drawer. Makoto made quick work of the minimal amount of tofu, making a mental note to buy more later before dropping it into the soup. Tossing knife and tofu container in the sink, the tall brunette dug out a package of dried nori and a bowl before sprinkling some in the bowl and pouring the hot soup into it.

Alanna walked to the door of appartment 123 -inwardly chuckeling at the convinence of the number- and briskly knocked soundly. The power still out, the storm still raging, the blond was left wondering if she got the right appartment number for the places handy..man? woman?

Makoto had been raising the bowl to drink from when there was a loud rolling crack of thunder. A moment later her lights had gone out. The tall brunette had gulped down her soup and gone searching for a shirt in the dark after finding her lighter in her discarded jacket's pocket -- which she had found after tripping over her kotatsu and then the jacket.
Using the lighter as a source of light, she dug through her closet and pulled out a work shirt. Just as she was in the process of pulling it on and buttoning it up someone knocked at her door. Putting the unlit lighter down, she stumbled over to her front door and opened it just as a bolt of lightning lit up the room behind her for a split second. It was probably a resident coming to inform her of the outage.
"Can I help you?" SHe asked before even looking for the resident, one hand holding her shirt just barely closed with it undone enough to see an expanse of smooth chest and the hint of the swell of what could have been Makoto's small chest or just simply well defined pecs.

Alanna blinked, biting back the flush as she took in the just slightly taller woman's apperance. "Er...powers out. Dose this place of any back up genraters or flash lights or something? I dont think it would do much good to have everyone stumbling in the dark"

"Yeah. OI was finishin' gettin' dressed 'fore OI went t' fix't." Makoto paused slightly as she considered something, her London accent apparent now that she was speaking more. "eYou wanna come in? OI gotta grab some stuff 'fore OI do it. eYou c'n borrow a flashlight or somethin' if'n eyou wan'."
Opening the door more, she stepped aside slightly to allow the other woman entrance if she wanted it. Once the door was open, she returned her attention to fumbling with the buttons of her shirt.

Alanna sliped in, watching the dark haired woman hurriedly butten her shirt. "A flash light would be good. And I'll come with, if anything I'll get a feel for this place while I help"

"Damned buttons..." Makoto muttered as the other woman slipped into her home.
After a moment she gave up on it, leaving it part of the way buttoned. Moving back into her room -- after smacking face first into the door jamb -- Makoto came back out bearing her lighter and an unlit candle.
"OI should be able t' do'it fine by meself. 's a fairly simple thing." the handywoman noted, tilting the candle to light it. "Company's appreciated though."

Alanna had to bit back a chuckle at the woman's fead up-ness with her shirt as she stood waiting for the handy woman to light the candle, finding the woman's accent endearing in many ways. "Well then mi'lady, I shall fallow your lead"

"Eh. OI'm no lady." Makoto chuckled, shaking her head as she offered the other woman the candle. "By th' way OI'm Makoto. Don' think we've met, ma'am."
With the candle, she offered her hand for a shake...of sorts. Makoto was an odd one in that she mixed and matched customs to her liking. Growing up in Japan, she had a habit of bowing to people and after moving she had decided to keep the habit...in a different form. It hadn't taken her too long to discover that many women were incredibly charmed if someone kissed the back of their knuckles and bowed over their hand like a courtier.

[oh...I am so stealing that idea from you xd ]
Alanna gave a warm smile, enjoying the play the flicker of candel light had on Makoto's face. Taking the woman's and she brought their joined hands up and gently place a feather light kiss on the brunette's knuckles "I'm Alanna, please to meet you Makoto" She said softly with a hint of elagent charm in her voice

Makoto smiled. This was going to be interesting. Was Alanna like her, ever the charmer when it came to women? Or was she part of the SCA and this was normal for her? Or perhaps she was simply a theater person? Either way it seemed as though she was in for some competition
Gently turning the other woman's hand over, she bowed over it and just barely brushed her lips on Alanna's knuckles with the candle held out to the side. Smiling slightly, the tall androgynous brunette gently let go of her hand.
"'tis a pleasure t' meet eyou, Alanna."

Alanna smiled, a very faint flush warming her cheeks "Shall we go? I'm sure the residences are a wee bit tired of sitting in the dark" She said calmly even as another loud boom of thunder rolled over head and a show of lightning danced across the skys in view of the many windows in the building
