I own Dropdead Issue 0 but thats about it, I don't really like most magazines that center themselves around a genre of music, not only does it seem to evoke a stereotypical "lifestyle" upon its readers but generally the articles are very biased on the concept of music. While Dropdead did help introduce me to some new bands I still have some problems with it, I think online chat forums like this are much better than a magazine that states opinions without the ability to debate because a lot of people can get sucked into stuff like that easily. To me magazines and other such things will do to deathrock what they did to punk, commercialize it and whore it around the world until it becomes so diluted that a nice chunk of the emerging scene falls apart. neutral It seems like very soon deathrock is going to be a style of clothing that you can buy at Hot Topic with your parents' money for a couple hundred dollars instead of a once very rich musical community, and magazines, in my eyes, are going to contribute to that.

I've never read the magazine myself but the cover does give a more glossed over clean cut ppearance to death rock, which, I've never associated that appearance with those bands. At least not the old school ones. I have no problem with magazines, I've seen publications about death rock before that never bothered me because of their low quality (hence, low quality speaking out about the lifestyle itself). But yeah, that cover erks me a bit-tone down on selling out.

I found a copy at a store here in SF (on the Haight). I really enjoyed the magazine; was thinking to buy a copy... but I spent my money on clothes at thrift stores xp

If anything I think the cover would be much better if it showed an oldschool band playing or something, that way it seems more like they're selling something about music rather than image. Thats what deathrock is about so thats what should be displayed in my opinion.
