History of Magic
A History of Hogwarts

Considering it is the week day of the school year I figured I’d give you some information about the school you are in.

Hogwarts is a school for young wizards and witches in training. They are taught how to harness their abilities, to learn spells, make potions, and other various forums of magic. Located in the United Kingdom, it is hidden from the muggle world. To be accepted you must show magical abilities by the age of eleven. If accepted you will be sent a letter.
Hogwarts students attend the school for seven years. When the witch or wizards complete their seventh year at Hogwarts they are ready to enter the workforce.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts first year students are separated into one of four houses. A sorting hat is placed on each first year’s head and individually and the hat sorts the students into houses. Below there is a list of houses with a brief description of each.

Houses

Gryffindor - They are known for being the most courageous. Their mascot is the lion.
Ravenclaw – They are known for being the most intelligent. Their mascot is the eagle.
Hufflepuff – They are known for being fair and hard workers. Their mascot is the badger.
Slytherin – They are known for being pure bloods and very ambitious. Their mascot is the snake.

Meals are eaten at the great hall. Each house has its own section of the great hall to sit in.

I know most of this is review, but review never hurts. I do however have a very interesting homework assignment in my opinion.

Homework

As some of you might know, Hogwarts does not teach the Dark Arts, only Defense against the Dark Arts.

In at least one paragraph (five GOOD sentences per paragraph) describe the pros and cons of not teaching the dark arts and teaching the dark arts. 10 points

Or

Write two or more paragraphs ( five GOOD sentences per paragraph). 15 points

Or
Write three or more paragraphs (five GOOD sentences per paragraph). 20 points

Please PM your homework with your name and house.

Next lesson : He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named

I seem to be receiving homework with two paragraphs so I figured I should add a home work category for that as well to be fair.

The change has been added to the original lesson.

Thank you and good luck! smile
