~Exaudi Nos Et Misrere~
The characters in this RP are human. No demons, angels, or anything of that sort. The people are a type of "mage", so will that satisfy your need to have supernatural characters?
I will post the bio page and plot shortly.
I have reserved the first three posts, so kindly do not post there. Please PM me your bios! The form is as follows:
Gaia Username: Name: Age: Occupation: Appearance: Personality: Weapon (if any):
Once again: PM them to me! They will be ignored if you post them.
~Rules, Regulations, Etc.~
~Keep it at a PG-13, please. ~No Godmoding ~Do not kill other players unless you have permission to do so ~Literacy is a must ~Romance is allowed, though again, it must not go above a low PG-13. ~Kindly make your posts at least one paragraph long.

~Setting~
Magic.
The world had long ago decided that the word did not fit. Magic implied faeries and happy endings and dreams come true. When one said the word, it did not bring to mind orphaned children, murders, a nightmarish struggle to keep oneself alive... There was no pixie dust here, but a world trapped in a downward spiral.
It had begun years ago; they had long since lost count of how many. It was not entirely clear how it all started, either. Many said that it began with the desparate need for a new energy to run the increasingly complex and powerful machines, a clean, efficient fuel.
After countless failures, a single laboratory discovered a solution to their problem, albeit a strange one. A powerful energy source, it was. And, like humans are prone to do, they sought to control it.
They succeeded with flying colors, and the world rejoiced. The source? The human being. The energy and power contained within us all, within our souls. Little to nothing was known about how they managed it, but all that mattered to them was that if they wore strange patches, their lives would run flawlessly. They christened their discovery "Magic".
However, some became discontented. Why could they not harness this? After all, it was inside of them, was it not? They wished for control. And, of course, their wish was granted.
Officials had not counted upon a "doorway". With the removal of the patch, the "rebels" gained the peculiar ability to draw upon their own energy, convert it to raw power that could be bent to their will.
And so began the assassinations, the murders, the chaos... The world seemed plunged into anarchy, deteriorating from the inside out as these "mages" ran rampant.
The single authority that yet attempted to retain order was a small group of mage "police". Magic-users all, it was they who yet recalled the meaning of hope, and what it was like to live without constant fear.
Our story begins in what was once a thriving society, full of life... However, the Magic has taken its toll, and it crumbles. It greatly resembles the inside of a clock, as many of its structures are at least half-mechanical, though rusted.
Death is more than familiar to the people of this city. They have seen it, they know it well. They are numb to it. Grief has been surpressed, but one can only take so much...
It is here the small band of police make their stand in a valiant attempt to rid their world of this horror, the stuff of faerie-tales. Their "police-station" is but a dilapidated old house on the far side of town. They attempt to control mage activity, though it often seems they are fighting a losing battle.

~Plot
The small "police force" has made an important discovery: there is indeed a way to rid the world of Magic. In the heart of the Mage-infested city previously known as New York lies a machine, long de-activated.
The prototype of the very device that birthed the Magic.
It is the only device with the power to harness and reverse the process of the opening of the Gateway within Magic users. It will rid the world of the Magic, true, but we mustn't forget that the Police are Mages as well. Is this a risk they are willing to take?

~Characters~
Gaia Username: Tari Tsunami Name: Aki Kikiro Age: 26 Occupation: Police Officer Appearance: She is small and lithe of figure, usually clad in various shades of grey. There is always a tattered black beret perched atop her feathery, short-cropped hair, which is a peculiar shade of olive. Her jade eyes seem far too large, far too bright for her thin, pale face: bird's eyes, some say. A worn grey trenchcoat tops off her attire. Personality: Quirky, to say the least. It seems that over the years, she has lost a small portion of her sanity. Though odd, she is hardly half-witted. Her intelligence has not been affected by her peculiar way of thinking, and she knows her job well. Weapon: Knives. Many, many knives.
--------------------------------------------------
Gaia Username: SharinganGirl Name: Ivy Reese Age: 25 Occupation: police officer Appearance: Very tall and of average weight, her long black hair is held up in a bun that is always threatening to come loose. She wears tinted blue glasses not because she cant see but because it allows her eyes to almost dissapear behind them. She always wears worn jeans, t shirts with various things on them, black buckle boots, and a black fedora. If it's cold she has a thick black blazer to keep her warm. Personality: Ivy is dark and sarcastic. She has a pessimist outlook on life though it doesn't deter from the fact that she is a briliant strategist. All she ever wants to do is sit and do puzzles but when duty calls she begrudginly helps to the best of her ability. Weapon (if any): a couple guns and a hidden knife
------------------------------------------
Gaia Username: heartdown Name: Serenity Cooper Age: 21 Occupation: Polive Officer Appearance: She has long, almost white blonde hair that comes down to her mid back, which she sometimes wears in a braid to keep it out of the way. But she usually wears a black leather cabby hat. Serenity is average height and although she is slightly skinny for her height, she is well muscled and very healthy. She usually wears dark colored clothing and a black leather jacket when it's cold out. Personality: Serenity has a happy go lucky personality and usually tries to look on the brightside of things, even in the worst situation. However she can be serious when the need arises. Weapon: Twin knives.
-----------------------------------------
Gaia Username: Proud_dorkwad Name: Maia Sergio Age: 25 Occupation: Plainsclotheswoman (is that how you spell it? Anywaysm she's basically an undercover agent for the police) Appearance: Maia has light brown skin, long, straight black hair (braided most of the time) and hazel eyes. She is about 5'6 and a tiny bit plump, because she loves food (and beer). When going undercover, her outfit consists of black jeans, a dark blue t-shirt, combat boots, and a long black coat with plenty of pockets. She also wears a choker and two pairs of blue earrings that hold excess magical power in case of emergency. Personality: Stoid, not much of a talker. Weapon (if any): throwing knives.
----------------------------------------------
Gaia Username: Lacrimosa Ephemerality Name: Yunne Zhe Age: 17 Occupation: Student Appearance: Short brown hair, fair skin, hazel eyes...a petite figure. She stands at about 5'4'' and weighs 112lbs. Personality: Calm and collected, she is open to the ones that seem kind. Weapon (if any): *Undecided*

Aki had always liked the snow. There was something calming about it... Just the way it drifted on and on, never stopping to ponder life's questions. It merely fell where the wind bore it.
She had curled herself into a small, huddled lump upon the windowsill, a steaming mug clutched in her pale fingers. Brilliant, bird-like eyes watched the soft white flurries falling from the sky.
Tipping the last of the cup's contents down her throat, Aki placed her booted feet upon the floor. "We can't sit here all day, can we?" she murmured. She put the mug aside and stood, burying her hands in the voluminous pockets of her grey overcoat.
The room was plain and rather cluttered. Odd bits of metal were strewn across the floor, coupled with torn papers and the occasional piece of clothing. Lamps of varying shapes and sizes cast a dusky glow upon the walls. Having unfastened the many latches and locks on the heavy wooden door, Aki turned the knob and pulled it open.
She was greeted immediately by a frigid gust of air and the metallic whir of machinery. Drawing her coat tighter about her thin frame, she carefully shut the door and strode down the street.

A couple doors away, down the hall, Ivy heard the door close. 'Aki must be going out' Ivy thought, 'She better be careful.' She put the pencil she was holding between her teeth, knawing on it slightly her mind ran through all the possible combinations of numbers that would fit the puzzle. Removing the pencil from her mouth Ivy deliberatly wrote a '1' in the empty box.
Feeling stiff she got up and walked around her room. The room was tidy, everything having a place to go and stay. The piles of paper in her desks had facts about everything, privious fights, places not to go to unles you wanted to comit suicide, and somewhere hidden the floor plan of the place that housed where Magic was created. She shifted her blue glasses and grabbed her fedora from the bed. Wraping herself tightly in her jacket, Ivy went off through the halls to get herself some warm food.

Aki turned her eyes to the heavens and continued down the cracked and worn street. "Lovely day," she murmured bitterly. "Oh, yes, lovely indeed, if your idea of beauty includes rusting gizmos and frozen bodies. Yes, such charming decor..." She lapsed into irritable mutterings, eyes fixed upon her now-numb booted feet.
After a time, a small, ramshackle building loomed ahead. A sign was tacked to the doorway, whispering 'Police Department' as if unsure of its own message. Aki padded up the stairs and rapped sharply upon the door.
"State yer name an' yer business," a grating voice demanded from within.
"Y'know very well who it is an' her business!" Aki snapped. "Now lemme in! I'm freezin' out here!"

Maia huddled in her trenchcoat for warmth and checked to be sure that the building up ahead truly was the Police Department. Sure enough, the battered sign above the door read "Police Department". Hn. Doesn't look like much... There was a woman in the doorway, arguing with somebody, but whether it was with the door or somebody behind the door Maia couldn't tell. "Excuse me... am I at the right place? I was told the police station was here..."

Aki started at the rare sound of a woman's voice. The only reason she would have called it rare would have been the fact that the voice was not laden with the promise of an iminent demise. She turned to study the newcomer, head cocked in a fashion that made her appear for all the world like an inquisitive sparrow. "Yep, this'd be th' place, dearie," she replied. "And what can we do for y'? 'Tisn't safe t' be wanderin' th' streets by yerself."
Despite her jovial facade, however, her eyes flashed warily. She had "been around the block" more times than she cared to remember, and was no stranger to deception behind a friendly face. Within one of her coat pockets, her slender fingers were testing the edge of a blade.

Ivy, finding no food and realising that there was no food and that she was horribly late for work, was walking quickly to the police building. The wind was picking up and her jacket wasn't protecting her body at all it seemed. 'Just great,' she thought, eyes flashing darkly, 'I'll freeze to death before even getting a crack at these mage people.' As she drew closer to the station she realised that along with Aki there was some woman. Past experiences coming back her right arm reached over into her jacket where her gun was. She stopped and waited to see the exchange before she decided what to do.

"I'm Maia Sergio. Y'know, the girl who was supposed to be transferred here and was arriving today..." She looked down at her civilian clothes. "...and I'm a plainsclotheswoman." Her hazel eyes shifted to the woman's hand, which was reaching for something in her coat pocket. She felt the reassuring weight of her knives against her own jacket, but didn't reach for them yet. It was too early to come to blows.

With a bob of her head, Aki relinquished her grip upon the knife. "'Kay. I wouldn't know, I don't usually handle new recruits. S'pose I haven't a choice, though. Lost our secretary three months ago," she chuckled wryly. "Alrighty, then. C'mon inside, soon as thismoron opens the door!" The last comment was directed at the door, behind which the click of a lock being unfastened could be heard.
The porch was bathed in a dim light as the door swung open. "Sorry," muttered a grizzled, black-clad man. "Can't take no chances. Y'know that, Aki." The aforementioned policewoman snorted and stumped inside, motioning for the other to follow.

Maia stepped through the door, nodding at the man. "This place seems...er, cozy." It's certainly a change from the last police station I was at... She followed the woman named Aki, glancing about her as she went.

((Ah... Hey, proud_dorkwad, from now on, let's try to have at least one paragraph per post. Terribly sorry, I should've mentioned that earlier... 3nodding ))
"So, what's new?" Aki inquired of the gruff officer, dusting snow from her jacket. "Who's still here?'
"Lost Lyn an' his brother las' night. Magefire. Not pretty. Nearly got me." Keith paused to pull up his sleeve, revealing an angry looking burn running up his forearm. "Haven't seen Kirril fer months, now. We're fearin' th' worst at this point."
Aki favored him with a blunt stare. "I asked who's still here, not who's died horribly," she said dryly. With a sigh, she turned to the woman standing in the doorway. "C'mon, then. I'll get y' all checked in an' whatnot."
