This is a story I started about a year ago, but no one replyed to it so I've never continued it. Tell me what u think and I might continue it. This story is a mix of fantasy that was inspired by me from two different books, Eagon, and The Edge Chronicles. Every now and again u'll read about one of the characters from one the the two books, like a bandabear or a dragon. Enjoy and read on, and remember to always tell me what u think, thanx.

Prologue

Before......

Clinging tightly to a bundle Whisper ran through the woods, behind her, a Seeker was in hot pursue. With the moon shinning brightly before her she kept running. Dashing across a stream her little feet caught a rock and she tumbled forward. The seeker was close behind now, with the last of her strength, she lifted up her bundle and called upon her powers. A bright flash for miles around shined before the world. With her last breath she collapsed to the ground.

When the seeker caught up with her it looked down in disgust, she was dead and the child gone. His master would not be happy, no not at all. Lifting up the elf, he slung her over his back. Stretching out his leathery wings he lifted into the moonlit sky and headed back to the castle.

Miles away in a small troll village in a bundle laid a little baby wrapped in a green elf blanket. A little lock of curly blond hair clasped to his face, upon his head a gold circlet of royalty lay. With a yawn the little child awoke, his tiny blue eyes sparkling in the moonlight. With a cry his delicate voice rang out to the world.

At a nearby tree hut a troll mother steeped out of her home. Looking around her she spotted the child, slowly she approached it. A since of magic clung the child and it scared her but she didn't care. Not that long ago she had had a little boy, but he had died from a terrible sickness. With careful hands she picked him up and carried him inside.

Cloud
1

Cloud, a boy with curly blond hair dashed into his mother's kitchen, following close behind him his twin brothers, Gramble and Thorn, and his little sister Gwin. Forgetting to duck down, his head hit the ceiling, with a thunk he landed on the floor. His brothers burst out laughing and snorting. "What a clutes," Gramble stammered and then burst out laughing again. "Oh stop it," demanded Gwin, stomping her little foot. "It's not his fault he's bigger then all us other trolls, he's just special, that's all!" The boys looked at her stunned, and then again began to laugh. "Thanks anyway Gwin," he whispered.

"Children! Children! Come in here this minute. It's time to celebrate Cloud's birthday." Orlga, their mother, yelled from the dinning room. With a groan the twins scrambled out of the kitchen.

Gwin offered Cloud her hand. "Come on Cloud, today your officially part of our tribe." Slowly he got up making sure not to hit his head again. "There! Your up now so come on!" She said with excitement. She herself couldn't wait to turn 15 and join the clan.

As they entered the dinning room his father Shaygar entered the hut. "Hi Cloud and happy birthday!" he said with a smile. "Hi dad," Cloud said stumbling over his words as he turned red. His father almost never smiled, so he was a little surprised. His father, feeling a little awkward, went over to the bookshelf and got from on top of it a long wooden box. When he reached Cloud he opened the box. Inside layed the most beautiful hunting knife he'd ever seen. "Now," Shaygar started, "this knife is very old and must never be used for selfish reasons." Cloud's heart quickened. "Generations of trolls have had it before me, and now..." Shaygar said leaving an air of dispense, "I give it to you." And with that said he gave Cloud the hunting knife. With trembling fingers he looked up at Shaygar. "You don't have to say anything my son, for I know you are a troll of few words." With a smile he toseled Cloud's hair. "Now go to your mother so that she can do something to that hair of yours."

* * * * *

Quietly he sat by the fire listening to his mom sing an old lullaby she used to sing to him as a child. With nimble fingers she worked magic on his snarly, messed-up, mop of hair. Every now and then she would add a bead with the tribe color into the maze of braids she was conjuring up. "Mom," Cloud whispered, "tell me a story."

"A story aye, um, well since your 15 I'll tell you how you really joined our family."

With shock he spun around to look at her. A tear was rolling down her chubby checks. "Turn back around so I can finish your hair Cloud," She said willing no more tears to fall from her eyes. Quietly he obeyed her. "Now, where to begin, oh, I know. It had been a very long night, my little boy had died and your father had stormed out of the hut on me. Being upset as I was I had sat down by the fire and wept. All of a sudden I heard a cry. Outside not far from my door there you layed, small, and wrapped up in that small green blanket you used to carry everywhere with you." Then she went quiet. Everything made since now, why he was taller than the other trolls, why he had blond hair and skin as white as the clouds he was named after. Everything made perfect since now. His mother leaned down and hugged him. "I should have told you Cloud but I was afraid you'd leave me, and I love you so much." She was crying again, he could feel it.

"It's OK mom, it's OK." He said turning around to comfort her.

With a sigh she finely relaxed. "Now," she said solemnly, "before you leave
be sure to visit old Silvertoe the dwarf, OK." He nodded. Today he was going to leave into the forest like every 15 year old boy did his age. Whether he ever returned relied on his wit and courage. Sometimes it took years for boys to come back to their clan, others only a couple of days, but most of the time they never returned home.

* * * * *

With a halt of his feet he stopped in front of Silvertoe's cave door right on the outskirts of the tribe village. With a creak the door opened. From the doorway an old weathered dwarf with silver hair and eyes as gray as the rocks he lived around. "I thought I heard you Cloud." He said waving Cloud forward.

As he entered the cave the crystals around him chimed a welcome. A few blue glowing fairies floated above his head whispering to him gossip and and scattering fairy dust around his hair and face. "That's quite enough now my fairy friends, I've some things to give the lad." Silvertoe said. With a flick of a hand he shooed them away. "Now, follow me to my treasure room Cloud.

As they entered Cloud gasped in wonder at all the treasures around him. Golden statues, mounds of gold and emeralds, weapons of all sorts, lay before him. "Cloud, don't look so stunned, you should now by now dwarfs are greedy creatures and we love to collect all sorts of treasures." With a nod Cloud looked all around him still amazed at what he all saw. "So what would you like to take with you?"Silvertoe asked. "You can take anything you like, but only two things." Scanning the room Cloud's eyes rested on the most beautifully crafted bow he'd ever seen. He walked over to it and picked it up. Delicate designs where engraved into the bow, and it bended so effortlessly. "That's the King's bow, remember stealing it right from under his nose. What a treasure it is. Crafted by the best wood elf in all Athenia." Silvertoe gave a small chuckle. "You may have it, what use is it to an old dwarf who sits around all day anyway. Here's the quiver of arrows that go with it. Inside, light, shimmering, silver arrows rested.

"Thank you," Cloud stammered.

"Your welcome, now come along, I have just a couple more things to give you."

Soon they entered Silvertoe's living room. Scurrying away Silvertoe went over to a pot and lifted out three things. One was a necklace with a small pouch on it, the second a small purse, and the last a small golden circlet. Silvertoe put the necklace over Clouds neck and handed him the purse. "The necklace has fairy dust in it, so if you ever get hurt a small pinch can heal your wound. The purse has gold coins in it because I'm sure you won't be returning home anytime soon. Last but not least, this." He said handing over the small golden circlet. "It's a sign of royalty Cloud, your mother found it on you when she found you and asked me to give it to you on your 15th birthday, maybe your destiny lays at the castle. I don't know, but it's time to leave now, it's getting late and soon it will be dark, off you go now." He said pushing Cloud toward the door. Fingering the little golden circlet he walked toward the door.

As he left the door he pushed the golden circlet up his right arm where it would stay for the rest of his life. Smiling he turned around and waved bye to Silvertoe. "Bye my friend and thank you for everything." Cloud said. With that he headed into the ever growing darker forest.

"Good luck and safe journey!" Silvertoe yelled after him.

Midnight Forest
2

The moon was lazily drifting above with a silver moonlit trail. As Cloud walked through the forest he noticed things were beginning to come alive.

Some trees were ripping themselves out of the ground and moving deeper into the forest. There was different birds flapping their wings letting out noises unknown. A little ways ahead was a small meadow of Moonsparkle Lilies. Singing it's hunting melodies trying to entice passer byers to step within its bed and into an eternal slumber.

The farther in Cloud ventured, the more and more weirder his surroundings became. Large insects of many variates scrambled, wiggled, and crawled around in the forestry around him. In the background he heard the scream of a Bargrow. Every now and then he'd see the silver wispy cloud of a Consumer looking for some weak host to take over.

By now the trees were beginning to thicken around him. Each one scarier than the first. He felt like that at any moment one of the trees would snatch him up and eat him.

All of a sudden in front of him he saw the one tree he most desired, the Lullaby Tree. Its branches were dusted with silver leaves, and among the branches lay silky cocoon like flower pods, in them he relied upon their safety for the night.

Very slowly he climbed up to the nearest pod and bent back one of the silver-blue pedals. With one hand holding the pedal he hopped into the flower and calapsed into a wherry slumber.

* * * * *

As the sun shown down upon the Lullaby Tree the flowers began to open. When ever a ray of sun would hit one of the flowers its pedals would open at a jerk reveling a soft, fuzzy, blue inside. Up at the top the flowers had all opened but in one a small little figure started to stir.

With a yawn and hiccup the little Forrest Fairy began to stretch her little arms. She had pink hair with yellow streaks. Her eyes were a pale pink and her skin a sparkily pale color. As she got up she straightened up her buttercup skirt and retied her golden top and than began to stretch her glistening rainbow colored wings.

Giving one more yawn she headed towards the small water pool in the center of a flower which she used as a mirror. As she reached the center she looked down at her reflection. Her hair was a mess! Setting down she began to comb her hair with a small piece of jagged egg shell. when it met her satisfaction she reached out along side the pool and gathered the rest of her belongings.

Among her things was four golden pine needles which she sat on her lap. Lifting up her shoulder length hair she put it into two, tight, little buns and than placed two needles on both sides to hold them up. Using one of her fingers she then toke out two small strands of hair to run along the side of her face.

The rest of her belongings was a silver and gold arm bracelet which she slid up her arm, two leaf sown anklets which she slipped over her feet to dangle around her ankle, and a small golden vine-like belt she tied around her skirt.

Smiling down at her reflection she then got up and walked towards the edge of the flower. Looking down to make sure the coast was clear she then threw herself off the edge and went into a free fall. As she was falling she began to open her wings. All of a sudden she noticed a late flower opening. Caught off guard the wind hit her wings at a wrong angle and she began to fall, but this time they wouldn't open. Screaming in fear she dropped towards the now opening flower. With a thunk she landed on something twisted and soft.

* * * * *

With a jerk Cloud's eyes popped open. Something had hit his head. Lifting his hand he prodded at his hair. "Stop that right now!" Screamed a tiny voice from his head. Locating the sound he lifted it off his head. In his hand was a small, pale, mad fairy.

Let me go!" She wailed. Shocked and reluctant to let her go he slowly released her and set her down on the flower. He'd never seen nor heard of a pale skinned talking fairy. With curiosity he laid down on hes stomach and just stared at her.

"What's wrong, stunned by my beauty?" She said spinning around in a quick circle. "Or maybe you've just never seen a Forest Fairy before."

She was right that he'd never seen a Forest Fair before but he had heard of them. "Well...," he began in a stammer, "I have heard of small, people-like fairies who never know when to keep quite."

"Fairy tales I tell you!" She squeaked in rage. "We are the ones who speak to the forest and keep the seasons changing." With a stamp of her little foot she crossed her arms and spun around to ignore him. "How would you like it if I told you we fairies think you humans are monsters! You guys go around and destroy our forest bit by bit."

"I'm a what?" He asked puzzled.

"Oh, please, tell me you know what a human is!" She said turning around to face him.

"Well... Um..."

"You don't," she said cracking up laughing. "Where did you grow up? In the
middle of no where?"

"Well, I lived with Forest Trolls."

"No wounder!" She said plopping down on the flower. "Those Forest Trolls are always so secretive and don't tell anyone anything, and if you ask me they're not the brightest of creatures."

Glaring , he looked down on her. "I didn't mean to offend you, promise," she
said raising up her hands in peace.

"Well anyway you're what people call human, I really do think it's a funny name. So what's your name?"

"Cloud."

"Well, I'm SunKiss," She said stretching out her hand in greeting. Using his
index finger he shuck her hand.

"Where are you planning on going," she said staring up at him with her
intelligent, sparkling, pink eyes.

"I'm not really sure, in my village when we hit fifteen we let the road take us where ever it wishes."

"Well, I say you go with me to the Pompow village to visit my friend Twister."

"What's a Pompow?"

"My friend, you have a lot to learn, and with me as your friend, I promise, your going to learn!" She said with a smile looking up at him.

Stay tuned for the next chapter.
