A Taste of Personality: Sophia's not popular, by any means. She's the kind of girl who other girls would be secretly jealous of, but sorry for at the same time. A Bit of Background: Sophia's the daughter of the deceased Death Eater Augustus Wilkes. He fought for Lord Voldemort back when he was powerful, and died defending his Lord's honor. Sophia was raised by a nurse her mother hired. Much like the stereotypical Slytherin rich kid, she was raised with everything she wanted, but the one thing she couldn't have was her mother's love. A Taste of Personality: Justin's a true daredevil. Give him a challenge and he'll take it head-on. He's often seen as out of his mind and out of control. He moves very quickly, not just physically. He's very protective of his little sister.
A Bit of Background: For most of his life, Justin thought he was a Muggleborn, but when he was about twelve, he found out that his dearly departed dad, who had died when he was six, wasn't really his dad after all. With the help of a friend, he tracked down his real dad, an old chum of his mum's, and found out that his dad was a Wizard of a high and mighty pureblood line, with a wife and kids and a good life. He didn't confront him, because Justin's not really into ruining peoples' lives. That's how he puts it. He's got his mother's curls and warm brown eyes, and his father's thin frame and white, freckly skin. Both his parents had brown hair, so it was no surprise that he did, too. His father was an Englishman, tall, with dark hair, a slender frame, and icy blue eyes. His mother was born and raised in Spain, and had light brown curly hair, soil-brown eyes, and a curvy, supple form. Both of his parents' cultures show through in Moochie.
Mostly, he looks like his older sister, Gabrielle. They look like they could be twins, only with different skin tones and about eight years' difference. Moochie wears his hair long - if it was straight it'd reach his shoulders - and he loves hats. He doesn't exactly have much of a 'style', he mostly wears black dickies and t-shirts. Clothes rarely ever fit him right, because he's tall and skinny, they always hang a little baggy on him. He'll sometimes wear fitted t-shirts, which actually look pretty good on him. He has one special pair of shoes that he wears whenever he's out of uniform - black Vans sneakers with a gray and black checkered pattern and zippers on them.[ t h e s l i m y t r a i l ]Moochie, like so many other kids in this world, was unfortunately born into a hostile environment. The fighting had started long before he was born, and only seemed to worsen as he grew older. His father abused his mother, swore, drank frequently. When Mooch was six years old, his father came after him in a drunken rage, and that was where Marie drew the line. She filed for a divorce, and moved from their nice suburban home to a halfway-decent apartment in a low-income neighborhood. She took on extra shifts at her job as a Nurse whenever she could. Moochie's half sister, Gabrielle, who was fifteen at the time, moved out of her father's house to live with Moochie and their mother and help take care of him. She babysat, cooked meals, and helped him learn to read. When she was old enough, she got a job and drove him wherever he needed to be.
Moochie grew to love reading, and always had a thirst for knowledge, despite various learning disabilities such as ADHD and dyslexia. He picked up math quickly, and became the top of his class at his elementary school. But Moochie wore hand-me-down clothes and never had lunch money. When he was in the third grade, the other kids at his school gave him the nickname 'Mooch', because he always used to 'mooch' off of them at lunch. He was a target of bullies because he was the poor, smart kid.
The day came when Moochie received his Hogwarts letter. His mother was incredulous, and his sister was ecstatic, never questioning it. They'd always known that Mooch was special, that there was just something about him. Strange things had been happening around him for years. Animals always liked him, and no matter how many risky things he did, he never ended up seriously injured. That one time that his father had hit him, he'd drawn back as though stung. His hand had swolen to three times its size, and he'd had to go to the emergency room, but of course Marie hadn't been concerned about any of it then. But now, they knew what caused all these strange things, and were excited that Moochie would finally get to go and be with other kids who were up to his standards. He was sorted into Ravenclaw. It was a whole new challenge, and he welcomed it.[ t h e s q u i s h y i n s i d e ]Moochie has always had a larger-than-life personality. He's excitable and hyper, always happy and ready for whatever. He makes life into a joke, even if it's at his own expense. He's the cute, loveable nerd, and though he's not particularly well-known at Hogwarts, he makes his appearances in about every group or clique that there is. He doesn't really fit in anywhere, but squeezes in everywhere.
He's very popular with the girls, even if it's just cause they think he's cute and funny. He just seems to get along better with girls than with other guys. He's always very energetic, jumping around and smiling all the time. And he's a genius, but he hates to show off. His favorite subjects are Arithmancy and Astronomy and Potions. He'll help anyone who asks him, but doesn't offer very often, unless it's to a girl he likes or something. He's also not into sports, and never got into Quidditch because, unlike most of the other students, he never knew about it until he got to Hogwarts. He's not a very good flier, either. But he does play hockey outside of school. One of the things he hates most about being away from the Muggle world is missing hockey.
He's also very close with his sister, Gabrielle. She practically raised him, and she and his mom are his heroes. He doesn't get the whole prejudice thing, because to him it doesn't matter where someone came from, just where they are now. He's also really big into Muggle video games. Hey's got deep eyes that are a sort of honey-brown color, warm and beautiful, and lined with thick dark eyelashes. His face is oval-shaped, and unique. He has a small mouth, a nose that's just a tad too big for the rest of him, and heavy eybrows, but it all pulls together into unexpected handsomeness. His smile is the kind that can melt away your worries.
He's a big guy, tall, with broad shoulders and plenty of muscle. He has a huge appetite, so he works hard to keep the fat off. His skin is a light tan color, a little dry and not so soft from sun exposure, and his hands are rough with callouses. The way he holds himself sometimes gives the impression of standoffishness, stubbornness, but at other times he can look completely friendly and welcoming.
He dresses very well, because he can afford to dress very well. He doesn't give a damn about designer labels or anything, but his mother does, so she buys him all the top names. He's most comfortable in a pair of jeans and a nice shirt or jacket, and accessorizes with hats and wristbands and necklaces and expensive watches. He also loves hoodies, and has quite a collection of them.  [ a mile in my shoes ] The Gellars were an old, wealthy Russian family, who moved to London in Dominic's grandfather's generation. There his grandfather met and courted an English woman, and they had one son, Christopher Gellar. They soon found that Christopher was much more special than they had imagined. He was sorted into Ravenclaw. He began to court Marcia Greco, a wild Itialian girl who was a Gryffindor in his year, at the age of seventeen, and they were married two years later. The Gellars and the Grecos traveled in the same social circles, and neither family could be happier that their two special children had found one special love.
Three years after their marriage, the Gellars had a son whom they named Dominic after Marcia's grandfather, and Matthew after Christopher's. They were delighted to find that he, too, had magic in him. They spoiled him, gave him everything he wanted, and so many things he didn't want. He had music lessons five times a week, took special tutoring courses to get ahead in school, which he thought was stupid, of course, because he'd be going to Hogwarts anyway. He hated the fact that they had more money than any of his friends. He hated the fact that everyone knew who he was before they knew him. He hated having all his parents' attention and devotion, and couldn't wait to get away.
The shocker came when Dominic was sorted into Hufflepuff. Christopher had been sure that his bright son would be a Ravenclaw, like him, and Marcia had hoped that he'd be a brave lion, like she'd been. But he was happy with being a Hufflepuff, and mostly with being different from his parents. He made several friends at school, had a few girlfriends, but the most important relationship he developed was with one Eleanor Davis, the grandniece of the prominent wandmaker, Ollivander. They became good friends. She was interested in his music, and he was interested in her writing, so sometimes they'd combine. She wrote songs, and he sang them. They dated on and off, and have remained good friends. [ under my skin ] Dominic is a very passive person. He'll let anything pass without thinking twice about it. Things that bother other people don't often bother him. He's a 'don't worry, be happy' kind of guy. He's spent most of his life so far resenting his parents and trying to live down their reputation, and he's done a fairly good job of it so far. Every once in a while, someone will remember that Gellar kid, and wonder what happened to him, before they remember that he's a Hufflepuff 7th year at Hogwarts, and has done not one remarkable thing with his life. And that's what he wants.
But they're wrong, on that count, at least. One thing that Dominic does that's remarkable is his music. Ever since he was four, he was taking music lessons - for voice, piano, violin. He also tought himself to play guitar, and his parents were finally convinced to get him professonal lessons for that, too. That's one thing he's grateful to them for: for instilling in him a love of music. He is truly amazing, and doesn't show off, but when you hear him play, you know he's found his special gift in life.
As far as other people go, Dominic is usually nice to most. He's not the type to hold a grudge. In fact, he's not really the type to remember a name, either, which is why it's such a good thing he's got Eleanor around all the time. He's interested in girls, of course, but doesn't really ever go out of his way to show his feelings unless they're strong, and he's almost completely oblivious to girls' feelings for him. He's very concious of his appearance, even though it seems out of character for him to be so. If his hair doesn't look right, he'll straighten it, use product, whatever he has to. He washes his face compulsively, terrified to have a blemish, and works out to keep his weight down.
He's very outdoorsy, and loves nothing more than to sit under a tree and strum a melody. Sometimes he'll be joined by Eleanor, but most of the time he likes to be alone. His favorite classes are Astronomy, Potions, and Herbology, and his least favorites are History of Magic, Diviniation, and Care of Magical Creatures. He's not an animal person, in fact he's a little scared of most animals, but he won't...phrase it in that way. He likes birds, though. Not as pets or anything, but he likes watching them, and listening to them. He's unintentionally funny a lot of the time. He can be very romantic, if given the chance, and he loves seeing people smile. [ good ]music

homework[ extra ] Dom likes all genres of music, except rap and most country. He also writes a few songs, but claims he's not any good at it. He hates when girls play hard to get. "As if they weren't hard enough to get already..." He's also been known to play shows every once in a while, mostly in the Muggle community, in small cafes and clubs.
