((woot! The first IC thread in here xD))
A young centaur sat in the library, scribbling in a book. She was black in color, though her skin was gray. She suddenly stopped, set down her writing utensil and glanced at the book. She then took a small piece of paper out of the front of the book, then glanced from the book to the paper. On her head of gray hair a little creature lay, also looking at the papers.
"Nolo, I think we've done it, successfully this time!" Shadow (the centaur), cried, slamming the book shut.
"Yes ma'am. Logging the past few nights was hard, but we finally got it done." Nolo chuckled, then buried himself deeper into her hair. Shadow rolled her eyes and plucked him out of her gray tresses, then set him down on the table. Her brown eyes glittered with amusement.
"Can you at least pretend to care?" Shadow queried. The kappa shrugged and lay down on the table. A few seconds later he began to snore. Shadow chuckled again and placed her book into her bag, then set Nolo into the front pocket of the bag.

Today was the day that Raya decided she should attempt to make a semi-difficult antidote, and so, she found herself in the library, in order to find the recipe for it. She walked up and down the many aisles of books, until her eyes came to rest upon a few interesting ones. She gathered them in her arms and headed towards the reading tables. A young centaur, whose name was currently unknown to Raya, was working at one of the tables, so Raya chose the table next to her, so as to not bother her. A few minutes later, the young centaur had a look of joy upon her face, not wanting to interrupt her moment, Raya went back to gazing at the book set before her. Soon, her eyes came to rest upon the antidote recipe she was seeking, Raya quickly wrote it down and quietly closed the book to replace it in its rightful spot among the shelves.

Cybelle pawed her hoof at the ground nervously as she waited for some signal that there were other centaurs in the library. It was always so difficult to find someone to read to her. It seemed an especially slow day today. Cybelle could hardly even pick up the soft clicking of hooves on the library floor.
Suddenly: "Nolo, I think we've done it, successfully this time!"
Cybelle jumped and dropped the book on rare flowers and herbs she was holding. She scrambled to bend and pick it up then tentatively made her way to where the voice had come from.
"Um, excuse me..." She said, her voice cracking a bit from not being used in a while.

Shadow turned, and pawed the ground. "I apologize. You are...?" Nolo let out a sour moan, then climbed up onto Shadow's back, and flapped his bitty wings.

"Oh, my name is Cybelle." She said, bending her front legs in a half bow, her unseeing eyes not swaying, "I was hoping you'd be able to do me a favour by reading something for me."

((OOC//I haven't RPed since my Neopet days, so pardon if I sound weird.. o_o))
A female centaur stepped lightly through the doors into the library, and moved purposefully towards a section of the library off to the side of where Shadow and Cybelle were talking. Her coat was a pale silvery grey, with neither dapples nor socks. Her head, arms, and torso were a lighter, slightly purplish colour. Her mane, tail, and hooves were similar shades of iron-grey.
On either side, belted to her waist with golden-coloured leather straps, rested a pair of thin blades. Neither of them had a scabbard, but they seemed to be in good condition.
Despite wearing what one would normally consider the robes of a scholar or mage, this centaur did not appear at ease whatsoever. Although her movements were graceful and her head held high, there was a sort of tension underlying her every action.
She glanced at the other centaurs in the library and blinked.
"They look like they're all busy."
Flicking the pale blue cloak pinned around her shoulders to one side, she leaned forward and pulled a tome out of the shelf before her.
Strangely, although there were several tables, she did not kneel down at one. Instead she stood where she was, her head bent low facing the shelf, and began to read.

Shadow blinked at Cybelle. "Read to you... ah, you are blind! What book shall I read... anything specific? If not... Nolo, fetch me a book from the shelves!" The little kappa began muttering to himself and ran over to the shelf, grabbing a small book.

Lilith stood in the corner of a room by a small stone table, she had a bottle of red liquid in front of her, and a book next to it, she was laying small pieces of herb in the book, writing detailed information about them, and pressing them into the page with magic, when she was done, she closed the book gently and wrapped it in a cloth, putting it in the small sack she had under her brilliantly colored mantle, she did the same with the small ride vile of liquid.
I'm attempting alchemy for health related cures....mother would be proud.... she thought to herself, gloomy staring at a book on a shelf.

She scowled and closed the book she was holding with a snap.
"Useless," she muttered under her breath.
For a moment she seemed to lose connection with the present, her posture going slack and her eyes unfocusing. This lasted for quite a stretch of time, until suddenly she came back to reality. She pivoted on her hind legs so that she was facing the rest of the room, and took a closer look at the centaurs in the library, as well as what they were doing.
"You've got to be kidding me. This must be the alchemists' library."
She walked towards Raya, hoping that Raya wasn't busy.
"If you don't mind me asking, are there any other libraries around here? Libraries that have books... books about the different known sentient races."

(pardon the lack of a character profile here but...I need to start somehow!)
A grey/white centaur walked into the library. On her forhead was a white horn. All she knew is that her family where the only centaurs of this nature. She was a pale filly as she gave a sigh as she looked around with her light blue eyes. Most people she ran into thought she was blind but it wasn't the case. She could see just fine. Her light white hair blew into her face she had to give another sight sigh of slight annoyance. She was alone in the world. Her family was gone. She looked around as she thought she heard a scream...no just her imagination. Her mind did that to her. She had to walk into the library. She was here to learn about her family. She wasn't here to make friends. For what she knew. She was aone in the world.

The centauress brushed some purple hair from her eyes. She was reading a book of star patterns, and was writing something down in the tiny book that she held in her hand. Her pale skin was a strange in comparison to the black centaur torso.
Kitti was mumbling something to her self when she head voices talking.
"If you don't mind me asking, are there any other libraries around here? Libraries that have books... books about the different known sentient races."
Kitti stumbled for a moment and then put the two books under her arm, and holding the pencil she had been writing with her teeth.
She wasn't very used to hearing this much noise in the library.
Kitti then quietly walked over and thought '...You know that answer, go say it!' She shook that thought out of her head and then walked quietly to the back of the library with the old books that many centaurs have used for stargazing and other things like that.
Kitti picked out one and trotted back to the oak table she had been sitting at. She soon went back to work in silence and back to her mumbling.

Her ears twitched a bit at the sound of a stumble. Not wanting to spread her attentions out too thinly, she turned her head in the direction of the sound. Taking note of Kitti, she turned back to the task at hand.

"Oh, no! There's no need. I have something here." Cybelle said, holding out the old book on rare flowers and herbs. "I was wondering if there was something on Alehoof. I've been trying to collect some, you see, but I'm not too sure on where to find it." She smiled, but her eyes still did not fall Shadow or Nolo.

Raya's ears perked up when she heard the female centaur speak to her, turning her head towards the voice, she saw a pale, grey centaur. "The only other library around is a elven one, it's about 30miles away from here, though. You might have to contact them in advance before arriving, they currently are preparing for a ceremony and don't like to be interrupted."

The grey centaur's tail drooped.
"Oh... I see. Thanks anyways, though."
A sigh.
"I suppose that means I won't be able to go check out their library for quite a while, knowing how elaborate Elven ceremonies can get." She chuckled and shrugged. "Can you tell me more about this library? It's my first time coming here. A centauress gave the directions to come here."
