Along the length of the canyon, multible villages have popped up, along with several reservoirs, manmade lakes created from the damming up of water. As this is a desert, without any natural lakes, these have come to serve as them, with the release of fish and other aquatic life. Not all have a village built around them, but rather several kilometers away.
