*Doesn't feel like answering all of those questions and decides instead to launch into her Manga search story of today.*
So it was this morning that I had decided to partake in going shopping with my X-boyfriend. (Against my better judgement, but it turned out okay. Maybe this "friends" thing will work.) It was a blustery cold day today, not as cold as yesterday but a good -25'C after all, so it was best to get dressed warmly. With my new Christmas gifts of scarves and mittens I was set to take the bus and train all the way downtown to a little shop that specializes in things like Manga and other things as D&D and Magic the gathering. This store still being a 15-20 minute walk from the train station, I was much relieved to get inside and warm up my toes.
Oh but to the shock and horror! The little shop did not have it in stalk the books I was after. All they had left were two gloomy little books that were too far away from the collection I was starting. When you're looking for the first issue it can hardly be expected of you to buy issue 4 or 5. Or so it seems so in my logic. So dismayed I went over to the card counter where the dear X-boyfriend was busy sorting through the 10 cents box of cards. I ended up getting something there and then we decided to hit a bigger store, atleast it was on the way home. So we braved the cold again and offered a homeless person a few meager dollars we met on the way. It was -25'C, poor fellow, you can't say no to that at this time of the year.
We get to this behemoth of a book store, my X-boyfriend assuring me that he had seen what I was looking fo here. A few moments in there we realized we were going to need a guide to get through this maze. There was bookshelf after bookshelf and little obscure piles in-between with 30% off signs over them. The smell of new books and ink wafting through my nostrils rose in me some very primal urge. It was so distracting that it took all of the will power I possessed to not drop down in front of them and start sifting through inside covers and bring home armfuls of books instead of the manga I so desperately sought.
Eventually we found someone who would help us. Eagerly he led us through the maze to a manga section and then asked us what we were looking for. "Chobits" my X-boyfriend uttered for me, and then we saw his face fall, poor man. It seems, he explained to us, that the manager has broken up that series and placed it in three different locations through out the store. General manga, young adults, and the children's section. Why, we'll never know. After a fairly confused and rushed jaunt through the maze we soon discovered there was none on the shelves. So we were lead away to a little computer that our guide used quickly, typing away and reading excessively quickly that I swear his eyeballs could have rolled right out of his head. Then forlornly he said that Manga had a high theft rate and that they would be getting new ones in 1-2 weeks.
Alas, no Chobits for me today. crying So I went home slightly gloomy and really cold, but now I've had some hot broth and a nap on the book I was reading so it's all good. ^_^

I don't know if you guys are as particular as me when it comes to dubbed manga... but I think the best dubbed manga producer is Del Rey. I hate TokyoPop and Viz- Del Rey does a great job. If it isn't Del Rey, I just buy my manga japanese. heart
(I can't understand it yet, but I'm in Nihongo no Karasu, so I should eventually.)
