So does anyone have any experience with 4th Ed? I've skimmed through the handbooks, but I haven't played at all.

Love it? Hate it?

I haven't played it either, it seems very...complex compared to the 3.5v which I play...I do want to try playing it some time though. A good friend of mine played and said it was the most confusing game of D&D ever, it was like he had to re-learn 12 years of playing. Right now I am much more interested in finding more people to play D&D with. I recently moved leaving all my D&D buddies behind. I still have some of my sheets I just need to go out and buy the books and dice...but before i do anything like that...I am going to the beach...I need it lol

Yeah, looking through some of the books, I was totally like "wtf?" I've only been playing 3.5 for about a year (could never find anyone to play with), and 4th came out. I like some of what they've done, but other stuff is just... bleh. Like taking away prestige classes? I love prestige classes! I've still never had the chance to become a Blackguard! crying But I like the fact the races no longer have negatives to ability scores, and I like the +2 humans get to any score they want. and the new Sneak Attack = heart . Sneak Attack anything? Hecks yeah!

To be honest it has always irked me that everyone always plays as a human...I usally play as an elf, I once played as an orc fighter...that was odd. But I always wished for more...difference amoung the group like a halfling would make a great rouge and half elves make amazing druids...orcs and drawves make wonderful fighters.

hehe don't get me started my Arcane Archer...I love her TT.TT I miss playing as her, she was so god and her arrows were great, she even had a death arrow.

I hope they keep the prestige classes, they are lots of fun when your DM lets you use them.

I never saw if you can still play at Epic levels in the 4th edition.

I have play tested some 4th. Let me tell you, forget everything you have ever known about Dungeons and Dragons. Unless you played 2nd and converted to 3rd be in for a world of change. It might as well not be Dungeons and Dragons but a whole new system.

I am currently reading through the books I just bought and plan on running a game sometime after GenCon once my group has some books and have had a chance to learn some of the system.

As for Prestige Classes and Epic Levels they are both still there in a sense. At 11th level you can start to choose a path to take your character down, there are at least 4 or 5 paths for each basic class. At 21st level you choose a new path to undergo and start learning all new different abilities.

With the buff they gave to the human it seriously needed it, in 2nd ed the human had the benefit of being any class it wanted to be, as long as you rolled the stats required. This was a huge thing being as there were racial restrictions on classes. 3rd comes along and the only thing that they get is an extra feat at 1st and few measly skill points, totally gimped. In 4th they fixed that, although the race to watch out for is the half-elf.

All I can really say is find a way to try it out first before jumping and buying the books, because the gameplay will feel at a completely different pace than any game of D&D you have ever played.
