WHAT IS ROLEPLAYING?

Roleplaying is when two or more people get together to tell a story, they decide on a certain place, time, ect. The each descide on a character and each character interacts with each others characters. Role-playing, in this sense, is very much play-acting in the mind. You imagine what the other player describes. Then, you imagine your character’s response to this situation, and describe that to the other Players. They, in turn, each do the same with their characters.

Most of the time, characters are involved in adventures, adventures of the type that are immortalized in adventure movies and serial novels. In one game, the characters might be a group of secret agents trying to save the world from nuclear destruction. In another, you might play a rebel force, trying to overthrow an evil star-spanning empire. You might play a group of warriors in elleventh century Europe, or King Arthur’s knights, or Superman, or Batman, or an original character you create, in any world you choose, But in our case you will be roleplaying with Characters from the Mushroom Kingdom!

ROLEPLAYING RULES:

1. STAY IN CHARACTER; Always stay in character, don't suddenly start chatting in the middle of a roleplay, its not only annoying it defeats the whole purpose of roleplaying. If you must go out of character for some reason during a roleplay session, then put OOC; (Which stands for out of character.) before your talk.

EXAMPLE: OOC; Sorry guys, I have to go out with my friends, I'll be back in about an hour.

2. MAKE YOUR CHARACTER BELIEVABLE; Think hard about your character, don't go out of their characteristic zone! No one likes a perfect character, its the characters imperfections that make roleplaying so interesting.

3. USE DESCRIPTION; Don't just say "Jane walked into the room and sat down on a chair" Where is Jane? What does the room look like? How did she walk in? How did she sit down? You need to think of all these questions whenever you roelplay. Instead, you could say something like, "Jane briskly walked into the waiting room at the doctors office, wrinkling her nose at the antiseptic smell. She glanced at the medical posters on the walls, and the magazines by the hard backed chairs lining the walls. She went, and quickly sat down in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs, folding her ankles properly." Now do you see what you're aiming for?

4. NO GOD-MODDING; God-modding is when you control someone elses character. For example, if you said, "Jane briskly walked into the waiting room at the doctor's office, dragging Jim beside her. Both of them wrinkling their nose at the antiseptic smell. She glanced at the medical posters on the walls, and the magazines by the hard-backed chairs lining the walls. She went, and quickly sat down in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs, folding her ankles properly. She watched Jim walk up to the pretty nurse at the front desk and talk to her." Here, you are not only controlling the character of Jane, but the the character of Jim. This makes it hard for others to RP, and should never be done!

5. COMMIT; Please do not start something, if you don't plan on finishing it. If you no longer wish to be in a certain roleplay, either kill your characters role, or pass your character to someone who wants to be them. You can kill your characters role by sending them to a far off land, or simply just having them die. Either way if a character's role is killed off, they can easily be replaced.
