I was thinking about this ability just recently and came up with a question. If Aang has now discovered the way to take bending away, do you think it would also be possible for him to give people the ability to bend?? Because then, if that's the case, he could restore the airbenders.. I know it's a far-fetched idea, but it could make sense to be able to give the ability as well as take. Anyway, what do you guys think??

Well maybe in the next 10 or 12 years when Aang and Katara have children he could teach them Airbendeing.

I don't think he can give bending to people. The only reason he could take it away is because it was already there. You can't give or take away something from someone if they never had it in the first place....
Kind of a let down, but that's what I think.

I think...I think the only way that would work would be if he actually gave his bending to someone else, which now seems plausible. But yeah, basically going with what Doggie said before me, you can't give what isn't there.

Well the lion turtle said it was bending of the energies within ourselves, so speaking from a purely physics driven point of view, it can't be done. Energy can be neither created nor destroyed, so I don't think he'd be able to give bending, although one interesting point to consider is when he takes away someone's bending, it has to go somewhere. It can either be expelled and dispersed throughout the univers (which it seems happened to Ozai) or perhaps he can transfer the energy from one person to another, maybe even take it for himself, increasing his own bending abilities. Just theoretical stuff, which will never be answered, lol, but things to consider nonetheless. biggrin

well....people who cant' bend can have kids that do. so it might be a genetic trate like hair and eye color. if the person already had that trate in them it might be posible to bring out there bending. but to create air benders he would have to find people who have air bending in there gens...
