Physical Description: Hayes' age seems to have caught up with him, that or the years of stressful experiments and studies with FTL travel are deciding to finally take their toll. His hair is short, gray, and extremely unruly. His body isn't quite built to that of a prime soldier of the Alliance, but he isn't exactly a slob either. A scar runs over his chin, caused by an accident during one his experiments.
Background Summary: Dr. Thomas Hayes is quite the extraordinary physicist, choosing the comfort of an Alliance vessel over a lab on a colony. He has spent most of his life studying FTL travel as well as inspecting and upgrading weapons and armor for the soldiers aboard whichever ship he happens to be traveling on.
Dr. Hayes received his PhD in Quantum Mechanics with a minor in both Astrophysics and Physics. Dr. Hayes chose upon gaining his degree to join the Alliance military to help pay off his college debts. While it was recommended he become an Astrogation officer or Navigations officer he chose rather to work on the weapons of each ship while performing experiments and tests of his own during down time.
Most of his expenses are not on housing or things of that sort, no Dr. Hayes has spent all of his earnings from the Alliance on his own ship, though he does not use it often as he rarely takes breaks from the multiple tours aboard the Cruisers and Frigates of the Alliance military.
His ship however, the CSV Spirit is not a military or merchant vehicle, but rather a civilian vehicle. It boasts no firepower and is about half the size of a SSV Frigate class vessel, it is primarily used as a vessel for research. It is Dr. Hayes' home and laboratory. He spends all of his time when he is not serving the Alliance on this vessel preforming experiments on FTL travel and even on weapons.
However, after years of work this Alliance and the Council Dr. Hayes has retired from the military life and now works only with private companies and investors. He spends most, if not all of his time, researching FTL travel as well as it's affects on systems, or working on weapons upgrades. Recently he was involved with a few private deals for the Shadow Broker including weapons technologies as well as space vessel technologies and research findings.
