The other day, I was riding my bike when I hear this pretty hefty motor behind me kinda revving at me like I was in the way or something. I pull off to the side thinking, "Goddamn Camaro" and I looked over to give the guy a stink eye when I see the most immaculate S30 Nissan Z (Datsun 240ZX) that I've ever laid eyes on. As the guy went into wide open throttle and screeched away, my jaw dropped to the ground and I nearly pissed my pants hearing an American V8 roaring out of that itty bitty Japanese chassis. Who'd a thought people would still be making scarabs in this day and age.

I really wish I could find a clean S30, just because they don't sell Hako-Sky's over here and I want a really classic looking car to throw a stroked RB28 into domokun

I remember a similar situation, where I was riding my bike, and a guy came reving up behind me, and instead of pulling over, I pulled to the right thinking he'd just shoot through, but alas. In my inexperience and lack of road knowlage, he took that time to over take me, cliped me and send me flying. lol

I've always liked the idea of getting a 1985 Ford Escort and squeezing a ford v8 into that little car. I saw one a while back, sounded mean as hell. I've also got a manga on the story and development of the first Z. Its kinda interesting to a car geek like me smile
Its called, Project X - 240Z, written by Akira Yokoyama and published by Digital Manga Publishing.
www.dmpbooks.com should have it.

Project X is actually a tv show that was running about 6 years ago in Japan. I know I've seen an episode on the rotary development for Mazda and how it was a great success for their racing r&d (even though it was a commercial failure during the 1970's oil crisis).

You might want to look into Wangan Midnight as well. The main character drives an S30 Fairlady and the story lines are, in my humble opinion, way better at character development than initial D is. I'm not sure if anyone publishes english translated versions though. You might just wanna d/l the subtitled episodes from animesuki.com instead.

Ah ok, I didn't realise it was a on-going series. Sounds like a educational show.
Yeah, initial D was cool. The recent stuff is boring. I wouldn't mind seeing a anime that perhaps shows how much the Akina Speed Stars progressed. *shrug*
I'll look into Wangan Midnight, there's also another manga about bosozuko(sp?) that also looks interesing, can't remember what its called though. sad

There's acutally a ton of manga about bosozoku. But my favorite one is Gigolo Jigoro. It's about a fat guy who finds a possessed Silvia that makes him the greatest love machine driver in the Kawagoe service area (^^; It's the most hillarious comic I've ever read, but again, I don't know if there's English translations available yet. I heard that they were trying to push this series as a cartoon too, but it got shot down because DVD companies didn't think that a fat, ugly hero would sell...
