I'm from a small High School (or I was before I graduated) where all the guard members also play instruments in the off-season. My junior year marching season had already ended and it was concert season. I was also part of Business Professionals of America through the local Vo-Tech. Fate would have it that the spring leadership conference (SLC) was on the same day as district concert band competition. Enough rambling, I'll cut to the chase:
I was kicked out because I chose SLC over district contest.
My reasoning:
-I'm only in band for guard. I wouldn't be here if I didn't have to be.
-Leadership conference where scholarships are offered, or band where there is no future for me.
Was I right or wrong in my thinking, and was the director right or wrong for taking such a drastic measure as kicking me out completly and dropping my grade by two letters?
He also pulled a bunch of immature junk, such as telling my best friend that I'm a bad influence and that she should stop hanging out with me.
Colorguard: Yeah I can spin that!
