The first round of the tournament will be over with by tomorrow. For those still going at it, wrap it up. All matches will be graded by the faction leaders starting sometime in the evening, so whatever's there will be judged.

And as a heads up for those who haven't got it yet, the winners will be judged on their literacy, battle skills and originality/interest.

The mods are currently reading over all your battles... well, we should be...

*skims through*

Wow, this'll take a while.

We're now in the second round of the tournament. All contestants to the field, and battle on!

((Question: It's been more than 3 weeks for many of the fights.. Is that not the limit for the tournament before judging is done? Some of us have been waiting for our opponents' next posts and none have come in nearly a month so... I'm wondering.))

I was actually trying to wait for you and Yogi to get to page 3 before closing the fights down, but you're only two posts away, so I guess we could start soon. I've actually already come up with a victor for each fight, but haven't done anything due to not wanting to. Anyway, now's as good a time as any to start, since most of the fights seem to be about done. I don't know, maybe we'll wait another few days.

Alright, we've been at round 2 for long enough. Everyone's about done, anyway, so the threads are now locked. What's next? Well, the same thing that was next last time: grading.

Quite honestly, I haven't even looked at those matches. Right now, I have people picked out as winners and all, but I don't have enough knowledge of the battles to back up my decision. So a quick review'll be done.

Don't worry, this won't take that long (unless I don't do it), about a day or two, so just kick back and wait. It'll happen soon. Then the next matches'll be up, and the next, and then it's done.

Neo I got a question. I must admit that your post above puzzled me a lot...

You have ALREADY winners WITHOUT having even looked at the fights?!

eek eek eek

Does that mean that whatever our role play skills and so on during the dual you already decided of your decision and the fight is only secondary is the final decision?!

I must have misunderstood your post... sweatdrop
Please tell me that I am wrong...

Exactly... not... sorta... yes... no... maybe so... I don't know.

My mind is weird. Yeah, what you said is true, but the order's wrong.

In my head, I practically imagine how each of the fights would turn out based on how you people role play in the guild. You could kinda look at it like the hypothesis of my scientific method. The fight is the test part, the thing in which I gather the data needed to either support or go against whatever I had in mind. After the test, there's the conclusion. Either my hypothesis is right or wrong and that's the ultimate result.

So in short, the fight has the final say, which is why I haven't chosen a final winner.

That being said, the fights have been graded. Ugh, "graded" is such a school word. The fights have been judged... no, that makes me sound like some supreme ruler or somethin'. I'm not feelin' that word, either. The fights have been looked over... no, that makes me sound like I just skimmed over it. Darn, I need a word.

If anyone wants to see how I got the results of the fight personally, just send me a PM.

Yeah, you should know by now, me and dates don't agree. Whatever.

So here's the breakdown of how the matches are scored. We judges look over everything given and analyze the mess outta it. Here's what we came up with for Dimitri and Reya.

Dimitri vs Reya

xx__CBK__xx
Fighting;

I started reading on page three, and was not happy.
"unlimited arsenal of fiery rock"-Tonas
Just no. Unlimited? Where's he getting all this lava, anyway? My captain character probably couldn't do that. She gets the energy for her fire from within, using bits of flint hidden in her arm guards to get the spark going. The minerals she hides there as well affect the color, though her fires are naturally blue because they're fun and magicy. I'd at least like an explanation as to how he makes this stuff appear. Reya, as well, isn't that much better. With her magic destroying of buildings, though she at least explained how it worked, I didn't like. It seems a bit..... much. Plus, she seems to be flying for almost the entire battle. Flying is tiring. Almost anywhere you read, flying wipes out the person involved if one is in the air for too long. She doesn't seem to show much fatigue from that at all. This really comes down to whoever power-played less, but that's pretty even. Tonas pulled out an all-powerful being, which angered me, but Reya pulled out a wonderful move, but then basically added 'Haha you're dead' at the end. So there she takes the fall. In her argument towards the end, she points out that there really was no escape. But what if Tonas's character just so happened to be anemic?! o:

~Tonas~

Literacy;

They're both extremely literate, leaving good substance and such behind. Generally they explain most everything that happens. They slip here and there, but that's to be expected. They both wowed me with their ability, though at points I was disappointed. This goes along with what I said under fighting, power-playing and god-moding. It does not make CBK happy. Anyway, I believe that Reya was a bit too informal. A lot of the time her posts start with a question or a friendly deduction, which is nice once in a while, but I feel she was being too friendly, which doesn't correspond with her character's personality. Maybe it's a stupid reason, but it bugged me.

~Tonas~

Interest;

Normally this would go to Reya, because her fighting style applies more to myself. But being the type of person I am, the quality of her posts affects my interest. Her posts are just a bit too narcissistic for my tastes. But on the other hand, Tonas is boring half the time. I can't honestly come to a conclusion, look back, and not find something to change my mind. This fight really didn't interest me at all to be honest, much unlike Yata and Zulma's fight.

~Neither~

Winner;
~Tonas~

Tokushi Sarin
Literacy
It seemed from my perspective; both Reya and Dimitri were making a good flow of references to their fighting techniques. It had the thought of the actually summoning varies of elements along with the disabling powers of them.
True Dimitri had some impressive text, yet Reya countered with her own writer’s detail so it was defiantly a display of two writers putting there all into each post.

Winner: Neither

Battle Skills

The fight was something to enjoy between two writers. Yet what really ticked me off was the fact they were both trying to get the better over another by over powering another, thus leading to the transformation of alternate forms or letting a demon control their body. It was really too generic for my taste. It was a good fight in the beginning yet as it got to trying to dominate the other with power play after power play, it lost interest.

Winner: Neither

Interest

Well it seemed interesting in the beginning as I mentioned previously. Yet what really lost my interest was the ultimate form thing. Out of Reya and Dimtri with their alternate forms when going against each other, Reya played the fair part against Dimitri in my view. A mark on Dimitri for over using the healing factor in the match-up practically making him to the border line of god-mod.

Winner: Reya

Overall

Truly a battle that would have been excellent if both learn to not rely on forms so much. It’s overly generic if your trying to become more powerful than the other. Plus a limit of powers needs work, most were beyond that of a 3rd rank. But that’s the case when dealing with forms. Really this judging was difficult, yet seeing the results, Reya stood up against that healing factor fairly until it got real old in the match-up.

Victory: Reya

Reya vs. Dimitri

Literacy

Naturally, both competitors were both highly skilled in this department, at least to some extent. They’ve made it to the semi-finals, right? So they at least know how to construct a well written post. They both did well to add on to that little prompt I gave them, and that sorta made me feel good inside. Not much else to say about that here. They have their own styles of writing, and that was evident, but to say one style was better than the other wouldn’t be right. I didn’t even care about that too much, so in the end, the literacy results in a tie.

Winner

Neither

Battle Skills

Alright, with the battle itself… it was highly entertaining. I liked it a lot. The flames darting across the lands, the darkness surrounding the area. It was great. I looked forward to each post like a kid eager to watch the next new episode of DBZ. Great stuff… but… as it drew towards the end, both players got tired of it and wanted to end it, which is good. Everything needs to end at some point in time, but their problem was they wanted to end it with them as the victor.

They got so caught up in winning the match that they couldn’t come to terms and do so properly, you know like a writer should. They ignored the limits of their characters, and all sorts of stuff. In short, they started godmodding. That’s bad, and I condemn both of them for that, but I also gotta praise ‘em for it, because it makes this job easier. Whoever godmodded the worst would ultimately be declared the loser of this part… except for the fact that they both did. It was equally as bad. Neither of them saw clearly enough to go, “alright, this fight’s getting out of hand, I’ll just have my character take the fall so we can stop.” Nope, nu-uh, none of that. If either player had’ve done that, then most likely, that player would’ve been the better role player and taken the win. It saddens me to an extent that none of that happened, but oh well.

So I guess that’s enough bashing of the two. Let’s look for some good parts. Dimitri did well to have his character use his head during most of the fight, so he, the character thought out most of his moves and executed them almost flawlessly, and when they were countered, he always had a plan to come back even harder. Dimitri the writer was well to add in some sense of logic in the fight. He did well to incorporate actual happenings like the “heat negates corrosion” thing. Reya the character was good with her attacks. She’s a trained angel and still regains her skills even though she’s fallen from grace, so her attacks were well and on the mark kinda stuff. Reya the writer was sorta okay with the physical actions, but not as well as Dimitri. She had some flaws in her logic of things, and I think that just may have cost her the match.

Winner

Dimitri

Interest

Oh wow, this was perhaps the funnest match in the whole tournament. I looked forward to each of their posts. They both had a good theme goin’ on. You know, Reya being the angel fallen from grace left to embrace the darkness, and Dimitri trying to redeem her, but he soon grew tired of his efforts of redemption and treated her like any other demon. That was cool. That was really cool. Dimitri’s good at starting up different stories and subplots in his works, so props to him for that. He did it in each of his matches thus far, and he did it here. Reya was good to stay true to her character of despising the light. Yata was right in his comment on the fight in the OOC section. This fight was indeed very, “epic.”

Winner

Neither

Overall

This match was great to watch. I enjoyed every moment of it, right up until the end, which it didn’t really have. As advice to both the competitors, get out of that “Win at any cost” mentality. It’s okay to have your character to be like that, but as writers, you need to learn to take the fall at times. Most of the time, losing a match gives your character even more opportunities to learn and develop. These fights aren’t based on who actually wins the physical fight, but who’s the better role player, the better writer.

Victory

Dimitri Solidari

~NeoPaladinOfLight

So out of it all, the winner of the match is, Dimitri Solidari
