Hey babe, don't worry. All I want is for you to come a little...
 Closer.
Don't you find the monsters of Silent Hill fascinating? I just love their significance to the main characters persona and fears. Have you ever noticed that most of their (humanoid) faces are indistinguishible, and if they are it's usually a mask or somesort? I just love that. It takes away any human feeling from them and fully demonstrate what they are; symbols.
^^^ I might just make that my signature.
EDIT: Just in case anyone's wondering I don't mean the whole post as a sig, just the top.

Does anyone else think the closer's head resembles a fleshlight? If you don't know what it is, it's better you didn't.

^^^ I might just make that my signature. Totally put it in your signature! Share the Silent Hill love around. And I have to agree with you. I love how each monster is a symbol that the characters created with their own fears. It's just a fascinating idea! (Especially Pyramid Head ^ totally PH fangirl right here!!!)

According to the Monster Concepts Designer, the idea was to make them relative to human form for extra creepy-ness, rather than just vicious animal-like beasties.
The human-metamorphized aspect of their design is a Silent Hill trademark. x3
The armless monster from SH2 came from a concept design that the artist had thought of, when he saw a fellow employee walking down the isle with his hands in his hoodie pockets. The artist thought that was such a creepy kind of shape that he designed the armless monster based on that. xD If you look at the armless monster again, you can actually make out the arms, which are placed just like a person would if they were tucking their hands in the pockets of a hoodie sweater.
In the Silent Hill movie, that suggestion of actual arms is taken out completely. I like it better that way, really. xD

And now I will never be able to look at someone with their hands intheir pockets or put my own hands in my pocket without thining of those monsters. Jeez I hate them! And I must say that the ones in the movies seem a lot creepier than the ones with the arm outlines.

And I must say that the ones in the movies seem a lot creepier than the ones with the arm outlines. It's actually the prospect of an "incomplete catagory." You see human legs and arms, but no human body, or one that's disfigured. It's a bend of what you conceive as natural and that makes the monster itself seem disturbing. It's something very familiar turned into something unnatural. Whereas you might be more used to seeing an eyeball monster, because you expect an eyeball monster to have lot's of eyeballs. xP You don't expect a human to be missing arms, or a head. sweatdrop

That is why anything ever bothers someone: because the thing that bothers us is out of the ordinary of unnatural. But actually I think it's the way the monsters move and the noises they make that bother me more. *shivers*

Only the human-like monsters are partially familiar, which makes them disturbing. ninja The motions are even familiar, too. sweatdrop Like a monster walking backwards, or its head twitching too fast. The occasional gurgling is something you would hear any person doing, if they were dying. ninja

In earlier designs, the Lying Body was actually supposed to have knee high red boots further showing James hardcore sexual desire (Most all monsters in SHII were female. Even Mandarin has breasts.)
I'm a total PH fangirl too, except I have a p***s. ;D

Especially if PH is suppose to be a symbol of James, and PH likes to...well rape things. It does make sense that they would be feminine. And it's quite okay. You are still totally a PH fangirl wink whee

I bet I could find the original concept drawing if I looked. Found it!
Lulz, I ripped it directly from a page of a magazine on a website. Don't forget though, The Abstract Daddy monster from 2 is Angela's, and because of Jame's sympathy and worry for her it allows him to temporarily enter her horrid visions of Silent Hill, like the room in the prison and the burning staircase. They look so different from any typical view that you can tell it varies person to person.
You've touched me. ;D
Siam's a sexy beast (pun intended) too. Man, woman, and bondage? What could be better?

I totally forgot about Angela's Dad and that he could kind see what SH looked for her. I wonder what my SH would look like? (I smell a new thread coming on...) blaugh Siam is a sexy beast! wink Not one I'd really want to meet but still. ANd as for bondage, hmmm I can only think of one thing better but it's still amazing!
