Hey there, I'm Squabbo/Thomas.
Thought i'd get my ball rolling and throw this into the mix and see what people thought.
I've been watching this programme for the last three weeks and have found it fascinating and insightful.

The Girls :- Sophie who is in a wheel chair, Lilli and Kellie who are deaf, Rebecca who is a leg amputee, Jennie who has partial paralysis, Debbie an arm amputee, Kelly who is also an arm amputee and Jessica who has ME and HNPP(cant remember what it is but its not nice).

SO...after that long winded introduction I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on disabled people in fashion? at first it was something that hadn't occured to me im ashamed to admit and something when I heard about the programme i thought would just be some cheap tacky programme but its actually brilliant!
And has made me think why dont we use disabled models in fashion? and not as a gimmick, just models.
I definitely feel when I graduate and get a job in art direction it would be something that would be normal and not shocking or different. This week saw them on the catwalk and they really did look stunning.

So what do we think?

Yeah I definitely agree with that, this week the judges did have a huge argument about such issues and did bring up that as real models they will have to hide their disability sometimes and not bring attention to it sometimes too. Which i think is the point.
The models should be models first and their disability shouldn't come into it

Oh god definitely! She was the worst on catwalk and the silly moo shot herself in the foot with her flirting. But i could definitely see her in print advertising.
Yeah I liked that too and I agree with him I'm not sure there will ever be 5 disabled people on a catwalk again kind of sad.

No he wasn't too had on her at all I dont think though I generally dont like that guy but he did have a point.

Sophie deffo will have problems, i know when i've designed something it needs to flow on a catwalk and you see the fabric move, but then after this its changed my mind alot and if i had a show i'd use sophie because firstly she is stunning.
On the first challenge they did a couture shoot and she didn't use her wheel chair which was disappointing they could have popped some pearls on, bit of fabric would have looked nice.

Lol designer wheelchairs, there is a niche in the market!! Haha i'd copyright that if i were you!

I've never thought of that. All kudos to them, seriously mrgreen

That's amazing.
I hope it isn't something that dies out but keeps going for generations to come.
