So after a comment about someone who found out they were lactose intolerant, I have somehow managed to convince myself I am too. Which is odd for me considering I don't really care what goes into my system so long as it tastes good.
But there have been certain problems brought to my attention. Such as cramping - not during a period but I don't get cramps then anyway. Unexplained stomach pains which I admit could be due to some other bad habits of the past. And sometimes bloating for no good reason.
But nevertheless being opposed to seeing doctors I decided I'd do my own trial where I just wouldn't eat dairy for a week or so.

I lasted 23 hours before I grabbed the chocolate.

You see over half my diet is dairy!!!

On a daily//weekly basis I consume:
* Milk in my coffee
* Butter
* Chocolate
* Cheese
* Yogurt
* Phili cheese spread
* Ice-cream
Etc....

I HATE soy products. I HATE immitation products and I HATE low fat alternatives.

So I guess all I can do is just REALLY cut down.

So is it all in my head? ((I hope so))
Or am I actually gluten intolerant instead of lactose intolerant?
Which would also suck becuase the other half of my diet is carbs.
HA! I'd be real ******** if it was both. Then I wouldn't eat anything ever again.
Although you know it could just be something else completely, something far more sinister.
Maybe I've got a parasite! Nah....Although there was that time I ate the rare steak.....Damn my stubborn arse! I knew that would come back to haunt me!!!

No, my dear, you are probably slightly lactose intolerant. I say this from experience (it runs in my family), It really really sucks.
But you've got all the symptoms. The best thing I can say for you is to cut back. You can still eat all dairy products, just keep in mind how much you're eating and what the consequences will be for that amount.
The worst things to eat with this sort of thing, I have found, are cake with a glass of milk, anything cheesy with a glass of milk, etc. So basically, if you combine more and more dairy, the worse you'll feel.
So don't freak out. I doubt you have a parasite or gluten intolerance, etc. Just cut back on those dairy products and you should do fine. If you start early, the better it will be later on.

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it.

And I'm really trying too. Infact I've decided while I'm being diet conscious I'd cut out more junk and put in more health. I'm even working out now.

I'm cutting out alot of dairy eg. no more cheese with lunch all the time. And I've decided I can't not have coffee and I can't have soy so that's my only dairy on a daily basis now. But I'll probably change that for herbal tea every now and then.

So now instead of chips I'm actually eating fruit. I drink water instead of those manufactured "juices" that are almost completely sugar and preservative. If I can choose something thats real and not been pumped full of s**t then that's what I'll eat for sure. Right now I'm just thinking keep it all natural.

I just feel like I need to get healthy now while I can break all my bad habits instead of waiting till my metabolism fails me and its too late to get motivated. And besides 2 days in and I'm already feeling heaps better.
Not to say resisting nachos and pasties is easy...

About milk - I drink Parmalat Pure Organic ((Full cream)) that isn't pasteurised. Is this any better than regular milk from a lactose level? Cause it sure as hell tastes amazing. It even forms its own cream, like it used to be back in the 70s and earlier when milk was delivered to your house.

Well good for you L_E_G! I really should take up dieting as well or eating healthier, but it's my summer!

As for the milk, I honestly don't know because I've never had anything but "normal" milk. But I guess if it doesn't make your tummy hurt as much, then there's less lactose in it.

Well so far so good. I've cut my dairy intake in half. ((I can't give up milk. It tastes too damn good.))

I've substitued almost every snack food for fruit. ((Who knew apples tasted good without the toffee?)) Eating sourdough instead of white bread. Its been an annoying transistion but not that hard once you get the ball rolling.

Wait till summer ends! Then worry about dieting. biggrin

Congrats! Glad its going well. Yes white bread is really really bad for the system. Sourdough is the s**t! I have to fight my dad for a single slice everytime we buy some. And I just found out today that he stole my stash while I was at camp. XD
Try apples and peanut butter. It's still a healthy snack and peanut butter has protein in it! Even better!

That's what I'm planning on. I've been spending to much time with my friends to cut back on pizza for now.

Thanks! Yep. Although chocolate and strawberries will forever rock my world.

And burgers, oh how I love them. But I'll keep 'em to holidays.

Apples and peanut butter - I'll try that.

Mmm pizza. Try lebanese pizza. It's fullfilling and delicious but its also incredibly healthy. It doesn't get greasy and it isn't full of fat. So you won't go "ARGH! WHY DID I EAT ALL THAT PIZZA?!" You'll go "I am so glad I ate all that pizza".
PostPosted: Tue Aug 05, 2008 6:04 pm

Awesome. That's one of my favorite treats, but its only for Easter that we have them.

Burgers...Ewww...I'm so sick of eating burgers and I think PETA has nearly accomplished another brainwashing. XD

Lebanese pizza? Huh. Usually I just stick with normal Pepperoni. And I dab as much grease off as I can. And I always keep myself to about 2-3 pieces anyways. So I never feel that guilty.
But I'll look into it!

Yummy.

Ah I only eat the real burger that come from the fish and chip shop. Not Maccas anymore. Though have you noticed the considerable difference between a Maccas burger and a Burger King ((Hungry Jack's)) burger in size? Normally we end up at Hungry Jacks but on this one occasion a while ago we went to Maccas and I unwrapped my burger and launched into a hissy fit about its size before realising I had the wrong joint.

Awesome. And Turkish fairy floss!!! Tastes like pastaccio nuts and doesn't leave that horrible fake sugar taste in your mouth. Its proper-spun, all-natural sugar.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:54 am

My dear, what is a Maccas? Is that like Miccy D's or something? Usually if I want a burger, we make em at home with turkey meat instead. And it tastes a thousand times better.

Fairy floss? What is all this stuff? America's missin out!

Macca's is our abbreviation for MacDonalds. We abbreivate everything, including things that have already been abbreviated. Why? Because we can.

Fairy floss is the same as Candy floss. I don't know why the names different. I suppose "fairy" appeals to kids more.

I found a new milk today! A lactose free milk! Its called Zymil. I didn't think it was possible. But it is. I also found a completely natural lactose free milk that comes from sounds rare breed of cow but they only farm them in the next state so few places sell the stuff. Its called A2. I've had it before and from memory I liked it... So you know what this means don't you? I world full of dairy that I can eat without feeling sick, oh yeah. It'll be so expensive, but soooo good.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 25, 2008 4:43 pm

That's amazing. I have trouble abbreviating things that aren't even abbreviated already. XD
I've never even had Candy Floss. I wasn't raised on sugar, my brother was. So our tolerance for sweets is much different. And there's so many candies out there that I've never had. Like Pixy Stix. I had my first one back in June, and now, its my crack.

Does it actually taste good? I don't think I've found and lactose free here, just Soy stuff, which tastes hella nasty. So I usually just stick with Fat Free, its not all that bad for me.

We think we just like to find new ways to be lazy. Like just just this morning I won the prize for laziest action of the day before 9am.
"These pages are too heavy to turn!" Yep I refused to turn the pages of a street mag because of there weight.
Wow really? I've never heard of Pixy Stix but they sound a bit like Pocky. They're asian sweets that basically is a sweet ((not savoury)) straight pretzel dipped in chocolate that come in a range of flavours including chocolate, strawberry and Man Pocky! For Men.

A2 did. Rich, creamy and tasted like milk supposed to. Haven't tried Zymil yet. If we have it here you must have something like over it there.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 6:55 am

I know what Pocky is. That was my crack long before Pixy Stix. And both will always be replaced by FunDip.
A Pixy Stik is basically a long plastic tube and inside is colored and flavored sugar. Totally simple, and totally addictive.
As for Pocky, I've had many flavors. And I've seen the bitter chocolate kind (man pocky) But I rarely go to the Aisan Market anymore, so it'll be awhile till I get some.
But PariPo is better.

Is FunDip the same but with sperate chocolate?

We have Pixy Stix! Only thats not what we call them. But I remember those. We had sour ones aswell. But I always prefered the tubes filled with honey instead of sugar. The sugar always got stuck halfway cause I'd suck 'em to make 'em last longer.

So man pocky is bitter? Awesome. I must try.
The only Asian markets around here are overpriced because of the lack of competition. Unless I go to Smith St but I don't feel like running into OJ as I've affectionately called him.
What is PariPo?

And have you ever had Mi Goreng?
