Any idea what this is? I planted it thinking it was 'Southern Charm' Verbascum (it was still only a couple inches tall then), but now I can see it obviously isn't, lol.

Kiera, I tried using this site to try to identify the family, but it was difficult as some of the specifics I can't take a closer look at in person (such as the flowers).

Tum and I will look into it further. smile

The flowers look tubular but I cannot be certain. It looks familiar but I cannot recall. Let me gaze about for a bit and perhaps I will happen upon it.

Ah ha! Finally! So for the longest time we (Urbeth and myself) suspected that your mystery plant was part of the morning glory family Convolvulaceae but it isn't! (Though the flowers do look like they would fit that family.) Instead you have yourself a Jimson Weed (Datura stramonium) of the family Solanaceae. Here's a link to the url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datura_stramonium]Wiki page on the plant. Solanaceae has everything from the tomato, potato, and eggplant to the lovely deadly nightshade. And Jimson Weed is entirely toxic so don't go eating it.

Hurrah! Now if you get to looking at the pictures of Jimson Weed and you don't think that it is the same plant, you just let us know and we'll take another look about! Hope this helps!
