This is my first shot at this, take it easy and don't beat me too hard. If the idea is to complex or massive, say the word and I'll try to define it more, but know that I have faith in you.
May the force be with you.

The General Idea: We all know how Final Fantasy Seven goes (or at least I would hope so to be in the guild), but lets take a step back from the opening scene of Cloud Strife jumping off that train for his first Avalanche mission, and start over. Let’s go back to when Tifa first enters Midgar after the incident of her home burning. Let’s rewrite the entire game-in a much more twisted way.
And while we're at it-lets have Tifa meet Aeris first.

The Heroes

Tifa: Suffering from a massive slice down her chest, the pain of watching her entire town slaughtered, the hate of a certain massive corporation - and possibly a few smacks to the head- Tifa Lockhart has been transported from the nearby Rocket Town to the massive city of Midgar for Medical Attention to her wounds. Alive thanks to her martial arts instructor she awakes in an unknown hospital bed alone and probably in emotional instability. In fighting reflex and fear she flees the hospital and is picked up by Jessie to wrap her in the world of Avalanche and her revenge.

Aeris: Between her caring and abnormal Cetra qualities-Aeris has found a perfect place working as a nurse for the Slums hospital of Midgar. The very same hospital that a certain Miss Lockhart happens to be checked into (who would have guessed). Meeting the strange torn girl when she was in a coma, Aeris has never had the chance to speak to the woman but has found an interesting puzzle of trying to piece together what happened to Tifa to put her in the shape she arrived in. Knowing nothing about her-she stitched up the scar-nursed her to health and during one of her breaks had the shock to find out that her patient had run off on someone else’s watch. Guess she'll never get to speak to her after-all...or will she?

Cloud: With the guilt of his recently dead companion-Zack, Cloud has been walking through the plains to arrive in Midgar three days after the incident. With nothing on his back other then a massive sword and torn clothing- he stumbles through the streets still suffering acute Mako poisoning and the paranoia that someone is following him.

Vincent: Head Turk-second only to Tseng-Vincent is an elite in ShinRa's mafia, hand constructed by scientist Hojo to make the perfect killing machine. In retrospect it would make sense that he would be dispatched to keep the Nibleheim incident under wraps-including silencing the suspected survivors. Tailing Cloud for a few days now, Vincent figures that the boy will ultimately lead him to the other rumored survivor-already having taken out Lockhart's martial Arts instructor- all seems to be going well until he moves in for the kill only to have a girl that looks hauntingly like a certain Lucrecia he once loved. Her name-he find later- is Aeris. Finding a strange fascination with her-he considers amending his sins for the women he loved and helping her by betraying the company that made him.

Red XIII: Working as a test subject for experimentation for medical purposes he was once a trapped animal for the hospital Aeris worked in. However, it was his fortune that the flower girl took breaks next to his cage and one day struck conversation with him. A few days later he had mysteriously broken free and is no where to be found. Now living with Aeris and her mother, Elmyra-he pays the Cetra back by guarding her and acting as big brother for the girl. He's developed a close bond with the girl and tends to keep others at bay for fear of her getting hurt-he didn't much care for zack to say the least, and he's heard all about Aerith's puzzling patient.

Yuffie: A pickpocket trying to make it big in Midgar- she sees the city as a means to kill two birds with one stone: get some Materia, and strike against Midgar's economy by stealing from its people. Of course her pickpocket habits and loud mouth tend to get her into trouble when she wanders into the wrong people.

Cid: With ShinRa having not pulled the plug on the space department yet-Cid is in Midgar for a briefing and meeting with the company for a final blueprint of his mission into space. Being the cheap man he is-he's opted to stay in a bar, Seventh Heaven that doubles as an inn for the two week trip. The only thing is he starts to notice some oddities about the place quickly and gets wrapped into something much bigger then what he paid for.

Barret: Since the massive hunt and destruction of Avalanche, Barret has managed to ban together a small fraction of what the anti-ShinRa movement had been-acting as a fatherly figure over his gang of teenagers he gladly takes Tifa in. In the hard times, he's forced to rent out the single spare bed room to passer-bys. The fact that the room is currently in rent to a ShinRa employee doesn't escape his notice and he uses Cid's lone brief case, when the pilot takes a leak, to his advantage.

Cait Sith/Reeve: Having the robot planted at a Reactor that Avalanche was suspected to attack- the toy has been picked up by the group as a machine Avalanche thinks is programmed in first aid. It was Jessie that begged for it to be taken and her idea that she may be able to program it to help the group fight-or remotely detonate bombs in the Reactors. Little do they know that while the toy sits in the corner when not in use, there is a man on the other end watching hours of live feed of the group. What he chooses to do with it...god only knows. But the arrival of the wanted Lockhart girl leads him to investigate why exactly ShinRa wants her arrest-helping him uncover a dirty little secret of his company...

The Bad Guys:

Rufus ShinRa: With his father's sudden and unexpected death (in which Rufus clearly has an excuse that places him across the globe at the murder*cough*-I mean...accident), Rufus now has control of the most powerful company in the world...WAL-MART! (kidding!). Unlike his old man using money to silence the world to ShinRa's screw-ups, Rufus finds silence much simpler in death. With the Nibel burning- it is his orders for all survivors to be found and destroyed. But Rufus is interested in something much darker-cutting money from the space program he funds the gill into the science net-re-opening old experiments. Such as the Jenova project and the creation of the super soldier-or another Sephiroth.

Loz, Kadaj, and Yazoo: That's right, these three children are making a call. Since Rufus ordered a new Seph, and bumping up Hojo's pay in hand, he got three for the price of one (told you it was WAL-MART). These three are the newest test for the super soldier ShinRa has always wanted. With the Wutai war gone and done, their only job available is the destruction of Avalanche.

The Turks: Since the creation of the perfect soldiers-Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj, the Turks have been a little irritated that these sudden silver-haired kids have been granted the mission of finding Avalanche-something the Turks should have done long ago. Having the pressure on the squad turns up the heat in the chase, with a little friendly fire by throwing off the silver haired trio whenever possible.

Sephiroth: Discovered by the Turks in the North (something Reno has yet to stop bragging about) his body is completely incased by Mako crystal. Currently resting in Hojo's lab, the scientist has had little luck in finding means to break his beloved experiment free but one day a certain Ancients energy and power happens to wake the silver being up-and then all hell breaks loose.

Things to Consider:
1. The RP can move in whatever direction it wants- it is not limited to the actual proceedings of the game, but rather the idea of the game as a base and possible track for which to move on. The basic concept still applies though-The heroes should eventually gang together to defeat ShinRa/Sephiroth.
2. For the Bad Guys- this was designed so that the powers could move independently from one another. That there could be three or two different forces acting against Avalanche in their own ends. I guess all three could move and act together but the idea of the Turks working against groups for their own gain sounded very Reno.
3. Not all aspects or characters need to come into play, I simply detailed each character in hopes that no one could end up with a boring part (that is in sense that this gets off the ground). It is vital that Tifa, Aeris and Sephiroth (you thought I was gonna say Cloud huh?) are present. After-all, the only three roles that intertwine are those three characters and that was done purposefully.
4. I am an over the top fanfiction author, so if this sounds too complicated-scratch it, and I'll just write this idea into my latest work. lol. No harm, no foul and I apologize for making you read it.

Rules
1. You of course may play as many people as you like-I ask that different people take the roles of Seph, Aeris and Tifa. Simply PM me for the role you would like to have.
2. Obviously no god-mod, and I'd like to see characters constrained to their actual abilities and to take into account their mental stability-example: Aeris shouldn't be one to throw around a buster sword or take a five mile climb up a 90 degree cliff without a sweat. Likewise, Cloud and Tifa shouldn't be the happiest people at the moment...just watching everyone die an all.
3. I'd like to ask that no original characters are added- of course a random guy on the street named bob may appear to give directions- but I don't want any leather clad-neon eyed super humans walking around. Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj have already been supplied.
4. Have fun...or else!

If you have any questions or clarifications-feel free to post directly to this thread or simply PM me...that's about it I think.

Stumbling from the bed she hit the floor with a heavy body, her arms extending too far in the landing causing one side to crumple shoulder first to the tile below. Cool and smooth to the touch there was an instant sensation of the temperature to her forearm.

Lifting from the fall her vision was wrapped in darkness, a single slide of light visible to the far opposite corner. It's small window letting enough light touch upon small features of the room to let her distinguish her surroundings.

A hospital.

Taking hold of the bed her nightmare had caused a tumble from, she attempted to stand - taking more measure of her physical well being and locking all thought away to a simple task. Posture stiff and sore she made it upright in strain and muffled curses.

Limping the distance she paused to catch her breath on the handle before whispering a prayer and turning - it opened.

Removing herself from her darkness an instant pain and searing of the eyes took hold, turning her vision into blotches as the fighter struggled to make sense of the sensory data streaming through. She could guess that she'd been in that darkness for far too long now.

Moving blindly along the wall, her sight came back in pieces - not before she'd already managed contact with several misc. objects, but she'd manage to slip undetected. Common sense would suggest that it was late then - or perhaps early was a better ideal?

Her trek was silent, mind around the next corner and focus not in the tugging pain at her memory - eventually she managed a fire escape down to the dark street adjacent her prison.

Who she was- where she was - what she was - was a mystery at his point. Taking the only direction forward Tifa Lockhart moved from the shadow of medical attention to stand beneath a street lamp, to gaze upon the dirty cobblestone. The disgusting city.

The bigger prison.

--------

"Yes?" The responding voice was muffled in his ear piece, causing the Turk to tense in focus. "You found her?"

With one hand distracted to the cell phone at his attention he sent his left over the mess of paper work on the mahogany, sending files crashing to the carpet. Catching the corner of her file it was pulled under his eyes while the source continued on in their report.

"She's been moved from Rocket Town?" Taking a pen he fumbled the phone with the other hand to jot a note in the corner. "Which hospital?"

He froze at the next words, his chocolate gaze slanting harshly to his computer screen- an array of post-it's framing an open spread sheet.

"I know that hospital. Yes, I understand, I'll have the team dispatch and eliminate." His gaze found the post-it he had been searching for. "Thank you, sir."

With a click of his phone his left found the frail paper a single name scribbled at the top: Aerith's Work

How convenient, two birds with one stone.

Setting the sticky note to the file he gazed again before opening his cell phone. "Tifa Lockhart" printed neatly across the front, the "hart" hidden beneath the hospitals address on the post-it.

"Vincent, I'd like you to look into something for me, I need to know how Miss Aeris is doing these days - and I need to know if she knows something about a certain patient..."

----

Rufus Shinra frowned at the click of the call. He was too important to be the highest paid paper pusher, and yet his father somehow still managed to entangle him in the business of 'who cares'. This is a conversation much more suited for Miss Ku Ha Ha Ha and her Gah Ha Ha Ha sidekick in their Mu Ha Ha Ha failures.

Since when was the Vice President asked to deal with the Turks in such shady deals? Wasn't good for election when the time came - that's for sure.

Tossing the open report into the shredder beneath his desk another dirty secret was forever spared from the publics eyes. Something he was sure wouldn't escape the nosy eyes of those bombing Tree hugers.

Honestly, who did Avalanche think they were kidding? They were nothing more then Hippies with explosives - and everyone saw how well that turned out. 683 innocent deaths - the only story ShinRa didn't both spinning and the easiest piece of paperwork Rufus had ever touched.

Why couldn't they screw up more often?

And speaking of screw up - he had another call to make. Hojo would still be up at this hour...

-----

He flicked his tail in annoyance. There was a reason he wasn't a house cat, or should be even remotely considered a cat. He was far too intelligent to be caged by these four walls of a simplistic brown floral wash. But circumstance had never favored the beast but fortune had to shine - even in Midgar from time to time.

So he supposed he should be happy that he was safe inside from the rain, rather then caged in some hospital miles away. And he had one person to thank for his fortune, however; she was gone.

And thus, here he was. Fattening on a window seal, waiting for his fortune to return home from the rain and work. Her fragile frame probably soaked to the bone by now - she'd forgotten her umbrella and today was scheduled for rain, help the growing season under the Plate.

Just another reason to hate this man made sickness - it was now causing his savior suffering. He flicked his tail again.

Where are you Aeris?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 11:14 am

No work today, luckily, Aerith was making her time in the church. Her church. Well... it wasn't legally her's, but no one else came there, nor did they kick her out, so it was only fair that she thought of it as her own little place. Besides, the flowers loved it here.

Running a hand over a white petal, she smiled softly. It had been pouring hard all day, and she wasn't about to go out into the rain and get soaked. Especially not after she worked so hard on her hair!

Well, that was a horrible reason to stay. She didn't work on her hair as hard as the normal girls in Midgar. She barely touched it, save to brush it and get it trimmed to keep it healthy.

Sitting down on the cold, wooden floor, her green eyes stared intently down at the flower bed of white and yellow Easter Lilies. She was planning on waiting for the rain to clear up before going home, but it might be until the next morning before then. Sighing softly, she wrapped her arms around her legs and pulled them to her chest, resting her head on top of her knees. Waiting was such a trivial thing.

You've got to be kidding me!

As if going hungry for a week wasn't bad enough her karma continued pour over her in revenge. Apparently this city had marked another tactic in going against Gaia - it could rain underground...

You could imagine her annoyance. Exposed legs and open t-shirts were not the greatest attire to sport in the hail. The theif cursed loudly with no one populating the streets to hear. She didn't know if this annoyed her more.

Ducking across the road her eyes scanned the area for any sort of shelter from the rain, landing on a broken down building shoved to the back of the trash. Midgar was such a disgusting place.

Praying to Levianthan she tested the door only to find it unlocked. Suckers! Upon entrance however she found it to be a church...there was no karma in robbing the holy, even if she didn't agree.

And better yet, someone was here as well - curcled position ahead of the pews. Whoever it was, they weren't the brightest with their back turned towards the door letting the theif duck around the mahogany benches for cover. Sneak attack in order?

Making her way up along the prayers, Yuffie was in line for the assult when she suddenly made the wrong step and shattered through a rotting floor board. An instant pain overtaking her shin and blood splattering into her sock.

That and she started to scream. So much for sneak attack...
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 3:55 pm

Aerith closed her eyes, feeling a spell of sleep fall over her. The rain was so soothing, and it didn't help that it was louder than it would be in a normal house, due to the fact there were holes in the roof. Ah, well, at least she didn't have to worry about watering her precious flowers.

The door's creaking hinges were barely noticeable, her ears occupied with Mother Nature's lullaby.

Shooting to her feet, she turned to where the crash originated. "Who's there?!"

Her rather silly attack mode melted away when a scream echoed around the place. She ran over to where the girl, who had fallen due to rotting wood, was in pain. Immediately, her helpful nature kicked in.

"Are you alright?!" She knelt beside the girl, her hands outstretched, hesitating to touch the stranger.

"Do I look like I'm okay?!" The teenager hissed while contracting her wound to her chest, securing the injured shin with her arms wrapping the leg tightly to her chest.

Great, so much for making a quick gil. This lady was actually interested in helping the ninja, that was rare in Midgar. Even the teenager could understand that.

"Don't touch it, it STINGS!" She went to beat the pink clad women back before something caught her arm. Something that hurt even more then her shin. Something with teeth.

"THE HELL?!"

----

It appeared the he'd arrived just in time to save the day, easily closing the distance between himself and his fortune to snatch the attackers arm before they landed a blow on his flower. His teeth clamping around the limb and ears laying flat to avoid the cries of pain.

He'd saved the day.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 5:43 pm

Aerith flinched. She wanted to help, but this girl wasn't going to let her. The smell of a wet animal entered her nostrils, forcing her to look to her side. That was... her savior.

"Nanaki!" Her pink lips formed a happy smile, relieved that her friend and protector had come to get her. He must've been so worried.

Of course, the fact that he was biting an already hurt girl wasn't on her "Okay" list. "Let her go. It's alright. She won't attack me."

She stroked her fingers through his soaked fur, hoping to calm him down a bit."She's already hurt. Let's take her back to the house and treat her."

A few minutes later and a scuffle short he'd been ordered to release the young girls arm, Aeris scolding his actions with a soft tone and playful flick on the ear. The young girl however wasn't as playful, getting a good jab at the animal when Aeris was quickly gathering her things.

Take it home she suggested, take care of it she wanted. Her kindness was going to get her killed one of these days, that was the shame of it. But nonetheless he complied, being used as a chocobo the entire way home, the small annoyance sitting on his back and complaining of her leg.

He swore she could probably walk fine. She just wanted to torture him. Con artist, he'd already decided. Not that Aeris even knew the meaning of that word. She left harsh sounds out of her vocabulary.

So they trotted home, Aeris protecting his flank and tail with the umbrella he'd brought her, leaving the ninja to soak on his back.

Victory was sweet most of the time.

----

"So how do I know you aren't taking me away to be raped?" The ninja sat stiff in posture, arms crossed in annoyance. Today was turning out to be a nightmare - as usal.

And now she was to smell of wet dog for the rest of her life.

"Where are we even going?!"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 6:57 pm

Aerith held the purple umbrella low enough to keep herself and Nanaki's tail dry, feeling bad about leaving the girl out in the rain. She had a pout on her lips, brows furrowing slightly as she stared intently at the girl's back.

She was helping her, and all she could do was complain! Ah, well, human nature, supposedly. "Do I look like the type to do the raping?" The brunette scoffed, then her tone softened. "I'm taking you to my home so I can fix your injury. Besides, you look like you've never been here before. You must be hungry."

They soon reached Aerith's home, the garden filled with beautiful flowers. Opening the door, she let Nanaki and Yuffie go in first before closing the door behind her. "I'll get some tea going. Nanaki, put her on the couch and get her a towel to dry herself off in, please."

Before Aeris could finish her instructions for the patient there was a loud crash and cursing from the other room - Nanaki having dumped the girl off his back and (painfully) on the doorway entrance.

But he went one further.

Free from Aeris, he shook his coat widly leaving the girl victim to his trashing. Herself dragging away while yelling some more. Elmyra was sure to have awoken by now - not that loud visitors were uncommon in Aerith's house. Curse that Zack Fair.

Taking up the stairs he fetched a blanket at Aeris request.

----

"Stupid animal!" Grabbing the blanket the ninja quickly patted herself down and limped into the kitchen area, taking seat at the tiny wooden table.

"Isn't he supposed to sleep outside?"

"Animals sleep outsdie, which is where you look like you've been..."

"IT TALKS!"

----

"She's goign to wake your mother up. Aeris, what took you so long? Are you okay? You know work called while you were out." He circled her feet several times, carful not to rub his damp body on her, then took seat in the corner.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 30, 2008 7:18 pm

Rolling her eyes, Aerith went into the kitchen, despite the controversy between the two. She knew her mom wasn't mean when it came to being awoken like this. Unless it was Zack.

"Don't be so rude, Nanaki." Turning to her guest, she smiled gently and shook her head, explaining some things. "Nanaki is someone I rescued. He's not a pet and he's not like any other animal. He's very intelligent and sweet, if you get on his good side. Please, don't make such a big fuss. I don't want mom waking up. She works hard to pay for this house."

Turning to the stove to work on making some delicious and hot tea, her mind started to whirl. Work called? But, she had the day off. Something must've happened.

"What did the hospital say? Did they want me to come in today?"

He was silent for a minute. He should have been smart enough to hold this off till she was sleepy and not listening. He never liked to be bring bad news upon the girl. His shoulders slumped in a very "sigh" like expression before he brought himself down to the cold tile.

"It's about that new patient you had, the girl. She woke up apparently... and wandered off..."

----

Checking around the kitchen there wasn't anything in this house worth looting. The girl was lucky. That and Yuffie wasn't so sure about getting away with anything major while Mr. Whiskers was around to ruin the fun.

Instead, prying into their conversation was more fun. She was going to get a good rest and some food out of the trip, might as well get some information too...

Aerith's eyes widened and her mouth partially opened. Tifa had escaped? But, it was dangerous! Where would she be?

Worry clouding her eyes, she abandoned the tea and ran for the door. She had to find Tifa before someone else did. She was still in the process of healing, and the shock of being in Midgar would possibly harm her. She couldn't let this happen.

Nanaki had expected this sort of behavior - positioning himself closet to the door before telling her. Easily beating the girl in her escape.

"Come now, Aeris. What good will running off to look for her do? The hospital has already alerted the authorities, she just got out of a coma - how far can she go? You return to work tomorrow - if you get the sheets she slept in I can help you find her in the morning."
