This is my first shot at this, take it easy and don't beat me too hard. If the idea is to complex or massive, say the word and I'll try to define it more, but know that I have faith in you.
May the force be with you.
The General Idea: We all know how Final Fantasy Seven goes (or at least I would hope so to be in the guild), but lets take a step back from the opening scene of Cloud Strife jumping off that train for his first Avalanche mission, and start over. Let’s go back to when Tifa first enters Midgar after the incident of her home burning. Let’s rewrite the entire game-in a much more twisted way.
And while we're at it-lets have Tifa meet Aeris first.
The Heroes
Tifa: Suffering from a massive slice down her chest, the pain of watching her entire town slaughtered, the hate of a certain massive corporation - and possibly a few smacks to the head- Tifa Lockhart has been transported from the nearby Rocket Town to the massive city of Midgar for Medical Attention to her wounds. Alive thanks to her martial arts instructor she awakes in an unknown hospital bed alone and probably in emotional instability. In fighting reflex and fear she flees the hospital and is picked up by Jessie to wrap her in the world of Avalanche and her revenge.
Aeris: Between her caring and abnormal Cetra qualities-Aeris has found a perfect place working as a nurse for the Slums hospital of Midgar. The very same hospital that a certain Miss Lockhart happens to be checked into (who would have guessed). Meeting the strange torn girl when she was in a coma, Aeris has never had the chance to speak to the woman but has found an interesting puzzle of trying to piece together what happened to Tifa to put her in the shape she arrived in. Knowing nothing about her-she stitched up the scar-nursed her to health and during one of her breaks had the shock to find out that her patient had run off on someone else’s watch. Guess she'll never get to speak to her after-all...or will she?
Cloud: With the guilt of his recently dead companion-Zack, Cloud has been walking through the plains to arrive in Midgar three days after the incident. With nothing on his back other then a massive sword and torn clothing- he stumbles through the streets still suffering acute Mako poisoning and the paranoia that someone is following him.
Vincent: Head Turk-second only to Tseng-Vincent is an elite in ShinRa's mafia, hand constructed by scientist Hojo to make the perfect killing machine. In retrospect it would make sense that he would be dispatched to keep the Nibleheim incident under wraps-including silencing the suspected survivors. Tailing Cloud for a few days now, Vincent figures that the boy will ultimately lead him to the other rumored survivor-already having taken out Lockhart's martial Arts instructor- all seems to be going well until he moves in for the kill only to have a girl that looks hauntingly like a certain Lucrecia he once loved. Her name-he find later- is Aeris. Finding a strange fascination with her-he considers amending his sins for the women he loved and helping her by betraying the company that made him.
Red XIII: Working as a test subject for experimentation for medical purposes he was once a trapped animal for the hospital Aeris worked in. However, it was his fortune that the flower girl took breaks next to his cage and one day struck conversation with him. A few days later he had mysteriously broken free and is no where to be found. Now living with Aeris and her mother, Elmyra-he pays the Cetra back by guarding her and acting as big brother for the girl. He's developed a close bond with the girl and tends to keep others at bay for fear of her getting hurt-he didn't much care for zack to say the least, and he's heard all about Aerith's puzzling patient.
Yuffie: A pickpocket trying to make it big in Midgar- she sees the city as a means to kill two birds with one stone: get some Materia, and strike against Midgar's economy by stealing from its people. Of course her pickpocket habits and loud mouth tend to get her into trouble when she wanders into the wrong people.
Cid: With ShinRa having not pulled the plug on the space department yet-Cid is in Midgar for a briefing and meeting with the company for a final blueprint of his mission into space. Being the cheap man he is-he's opted to stay in a bar, Seventh Heaven that doubles as an inn for the two week trip. The only thing is he starts to notice some oddities about the place quickly and gets wrapped into something much bigger then what he paid for.
Barret: Since the massive hunt and destruction of Avalanche, Barret has managed to ban together a small fraction of what the anti-ShinRa movement had been-acting as a fatherly figure over his gang of teenagers he gladly takes Tifa in. In the hard times, he's forced to rent out the single spare bed room to passer-bys. The fact that the room is currently in rent to a ShinRa employee doesn't escape his notice and he uses Cid's lone brief case, when the pilot takes a leak, to his advantage.
Cait Sith/Reeve: Having the robot planted at a Reactor that Avalanche was suspected to attack- the toy has been picked up by the group as a machine Avalanche thinks is programmed in first aid. It was Jessie that begged for it to be taken and her idea that she may be able to program it to help the group fight-or remotely detonate bombs in the Reactors. Little do they know that while the toy sits in the corner when not in use, there is a man on the other end watching hours of live feed of the group. What he chooses to do with it...god only knows. But the arrival of the wanted Lockhart girl leads him to investigate why exactly ShinRa wants her arrest-helping him uncover a dirty little secret of his company...
The Bad Guys:
Rufus ShinRa: With his father's sudden and unexpected death (in which Rufus clearly has an excuse that places him across the globe at the murder*cough*-I mean...accident), Rufus now has control of the most powerful company in the world...WAL-MART! (kidding!). Unlike his old man using money to silence the world to ShinRa's screw-ups, Rufus finds silence much simpler in death. With the Nibel burning- it is his orders for all survivors to be found and destroyed. But Rufus is interested in something much darker-cutting money from the space program he funds the gill into the science net-re-opening old experiments. Such as the Jenova project and the creation of the super soldier-or another Sephiroth.
Loz, Kadaj, and Yazoo: That's right, these three children are making a call. Since Rufus ordered a new Seph, and bumping up Hojo's pay in hand, he got three for the price of one (told you it was WAL-MART). These three are the newest test for the super soldier ShinRa has always wanted. With the Wutai war gone and done, their only job available is the destruction of Avalanche.
The Turks: Since the creation of the perfect soldiers-Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj, the Turks have been a little irritated that these sudden silver-haired kids have been granted the mission of finding Avalanche-something the Turks should have done long ago. Having the pressure on the squad turns up the heat in the chase, with a little friendly fire by throwing off the silver haired trio whenever possible.
Sephiroth: Discovered by the Turks in the North (something Reno has yet to stop bragging about) his body is completely incased by Mako crystal. Currently resting in Hojo's lab, the scientist has had little luck in finding means to break his beloved experiment free but one day a certain Ancients energy and power happens to wake the silver being up-and then all hell breaks loose.
Things to Consider:
1. The RP can move in whatever direction it wants- it is not limited to the actual proceedings of the game, but rather the idea of the game as a base and possible track for which to move on. The basic concept still applies though-The heroes should eventually gang together to defeat ShinRa/Sephiroth.
2. For the Bad Guys- this was designed so that the powers could move independently from one another. That there could be three or two different forces acting against Avalanche in their own ends. I guess all three could move and act together but the idea of the Turks working against groups for their own gain sounded very Reno.
3. Not all aspects or characters need to come into play, I simply detailed each character in hopes that no one could end up with a boring part (that is in sense that this gets off the ground). It is vital that Tifa, Aeris and Sephiroth (you thought I was gonna say Cloud huh?) are present. After-all, the only three roles that intertwine are those three characters and that was done purposefully.
4. I am an over the top fanfiction author, so if this sounds too complicated-scratch it, and I'll just write this idea into my latest work. lol. No harm, no foul and I apologize for making you read it.
Rules
1. You of course may play as many people as you like-I ask that different people take the roles of Seph, Aeris and Tifa. Simply PM me for the role you would like to have.
2. Obviously no god-mod, and I'd like to see characters constrained to their actual abilities and to take into account their mental stability-example: Aeris shouldn't be one to throw around a buster sword or take a five mile climb up a 90 degree cliff without a sweat. Likewise, Cloud and Tifa shouldn't be the happiest people at the moment...just watching everyone die an all.
3. I'd like to ask that no original characters are added- of course a random guy on the street named bob may appear to give directions- but I don't want any leather clad-neon eyed super humans walking around. Loz, Yazoo and Kadaj have already been supplied.
4. Have fun...or else!
If you have any questions or clarifications-feel free to post directly to this thread or simply PM me...that's about it I think.
