If you know anything behind the history of Walter Sullivan or the Walter Sullivan Case, post it here.

Walter Sullivan was born in South Ashfield Heights in 1970, but was abandoned by his parents right after his birth. He was discovered by the superintendent Frank Sunderland *it was thought he was the father of James Sunderland, but this is not proven* He was then sent to live at St. Jerome's hospital until he became old enough to live at Wish House.
So he was then sent to live at Wish House, the orphanage ran by one of the Silent Hill cults named The Order. When he became a teenager, The Order taught him about the 21 sacraments which he could use to ressurect his "mother", when in actuality it would ressurect the devil.
When Walter was homeless, he met Eileen Galvin when she was 5. She gave him a doll then walked off with her mom. *That doll is the same doll Walter gives you on the stairs* in the game he even says, "I got this from Miss Galvin, a long, long time ago.... she was younger than me back then.... She looked so happy holding her mother's hand..."
When Walter hit the age of 24, he began his killing spree. He killed 10 victims in 10 days, each of them with their heart removed. He carved in each of them the corresponding numbers, 01121, 02121, and so on and so forth which we can identify easily by changing the 1 in the middle to a / sign, reading 01/21, a key trick in the discovery of understanding the 21 sacraments. Walter stabbed himself in the neck with a spoon while he was in prison *they mention the spoon went in 2 inches, severing his cartoid artery*.
They claim Walter was buried in a graveyard near Wish House, which is true because while you are there you find a grave marked Walter Sullivan. However, it is mentioned that three years later a man fitting Walter's description was seen walking out of room 302, which fits perfectly as to why Walters Grave is dug up, but how it got dug up and how he became alive is a mystery still. Also I should add, while at Toluca Prison in Silent Hill 2, you will find a grave marked Walter Sullivan in the Prison's graveyard too. Out of common sense that one person cannot be buried in two places, and since Walter's grave was dug up at Wish House, we can only assume the grave at Toluca Prison was nothing more than just a marker. *there are no records "stating" Walter was buried in Toluca Prison*
Another body was found however marked 12121, so the cops suspected a copycat. Joseph Schreiber, who lived in 302 before Henry Townshend, developed a theory that they captured the wrong Walter. Shortly after two more bodies were found and then Joseph went missing shortly after THAT event.
It is believed Walter had a connection with Dahlia, first seen in Silent Hill 1, from when she tried to make Alessa birth their god. The reason being is, when Henry visits the Wish house, he finds a note that states "Has Alessa been found? Is Walter ready?" I have yet to figure out "what" Walter was suppose to be ready for, but we can only assume it had nothing to do with the 21 sacraments because like I said, the note was found in Wish House, meaning Walter was a kid at the time. If anyone has any tips on that or anything else please post, I too will post if I find out something new about Walter.

Update~~~~~
I know why Walter was alive when he was killed. Referance yourself to the topic "21 sacraments" to find out why.
Also, in Silent Hill 2 you read a newspaper article about Walter killing 2 children Miriam and Billy Locane. There is also a quote from one of his old school mates saying that Walter said, "The Red Devil was making him do those things". The Red Devil could be a reference to Pyramid Head, which is more or less Jimmy Stone, Walters first victim. It could also mean Xuchilbara, the "Red God" of Silent Hill, whom Claudia mentions.

Update~~~~~
Also, in the 4 endings of Silent Hill 4..... in the ending called Escape, it appears as though Walter is 100% dead..... I just want to remind some of the stubborn people that Walter, even though the 21 sacraments were not completed, he did complete the part that releases him from the bonds of flesh and blood..... My proof of Walter still not "completely" dead being:

Supposidly after Walter was defeated in all of the endings, his spirit went to reside within 302.... they say in Escape the apartment and his room are fine, but Walter has to be somewhere, because of the ritual he performed.

it just bugs me when people post messages like "Walter was killed forever" or "henry's job was to put Walter to rest, forever" because it's impossible..... If that were true, Walter would have died forever when he killed himself, the ritual he performed kept him alive and is keeping him alive.... and apart from anything the endings "show".... the text in the game says:
"Those who are swallowed up by that world, will wander forever undying".
So even if Henry "did" kill Walter, wouldnt that make him living in Silent Hill, right now undying? Every beginning has an ending, and every ending leads to a new beginning, so in this case, was death really the ending when it began a new beginning? *its fun knowing a lot about characters, espcially immortal ones like Pyramid Head and Walter... they usually have more history and things to learn behind their name*

Walter Sullivan is a freudian field day! lol

I'm wondering if maybe his older self dies in the "21 Sacraments" ending because we see little Walter lying on the couch, finally reunited with his beloved mother, and older Walter standing quietly in the corner. On closer expection we see that his eyes are closed. So maybe the spirit of his older self moved on while his younger self staying in room 302?

Hmm, It's possible. But I also always thought maybe he was just sleeping standing up. Just based on his stance, that is. I've actually just posted a lot more good info on Walter, I'll have to transfer it to this post in a bit.

This is 98% true statistics. Very very very limited amount of what's here is not researched material, but stuff I have theorized. It explains the connection a little simpler between SH4 and SH2

The Data I have found is this. At the time Walter Sullivan was born, Frank Sunderland would have been 21 years old. Frank and James had about a 22 year age difference, so James was not yet born. Walter was not directly sent to the orphanage as Newtionary had stated, but rather he was sent to St. Jeromes Hospital where he became a ward of the state and then was transfered to Wish House.

When he was 6 years old, he began making weekly trips to Ashfield Heights. So I do believe Walter and James could have seen each other, but the chances are very unlikely. Even more unlikely is them actually conversing. Walter never stayed longer than to take a quick peek and leave. Certainly not long enough to get to know anyone. Walter had no childhood friends, and was often bullied by other kids. Tenants in the apartment treated him badly as well, so James could have caught the same vibe.

The deal is that Frank would have had time to get the umbilical cord and hid it away somewhere. Just because he was better about talking about it in Silent Hill 4, doesn't necessarily mean he was comfortable preaching it right from the start. I mean, how much do all of YOU hide from people you live with? I've got bunches of things no one in my house knows I have. So it's not like James could walk up and say "Hey, you're Walter! My dad totally has your umbilical cord!!!" Plus, none of the other tenants knew he had it. Everyone knows kids cant keep a secret. Why would Frank tell James about it when he knew very well James could, at any age, tell other people about it.

When Walter was 24, he committed suicide. By this point, the first 11 victims, including himself, had been killed and the Holy Assumption was completed. Three years later, when James was 26 and visiting Silent Hill with Mary on vacation, Walter began killing the next 4 victims in a nearby town called Pleasent River. This was also the time when, shortly after their vacation, Mary died of an illness.

Three years later, James makes his historic return to Silent Hill. At this point in time, James was 29 years old. Seeing how it already happened, James stumbled across an old looking newspaper with an article about Walter Sullivan. Now, by the end of the game James has gone missing. Also worth noting, by this point Frank would be 51 years old.

At the time of Silent Hill 4, Frank was about 55ish. A photograph explains that Frank had said, "A Few years ago, my son went missing there". 4 years is definitly considered "a few years".

As it was intended biggrin I was and still am quite obsessed with his character... in fact, the only thing creepier than Walter stalking you in the game is that if you glimpse carefully in the background you'll see me stalking Walter! eek Bet nobody saw that coming.

I used to think the same too, but I've found with Silent Hill sometimes things just need a longer look at. The game developers did such a great job burying so many things deeper than surface details. Walter was just one of the better examples in the series history. How they gave so much depth, history, and detail to a guy who's only connection to the series was an article clipping in a trashcan in a completely different game is just outstanding work on their part.
