Strange things are known to happy at night, much less in the company of ogres. Those that come, to sit around the fire of Junkan Iron Fang, do so at their own risk. After all, a half ogre is not known for their, hospitality.

Those that brave the company, might hear wonderous stories, the oral history of this man's life, and those that he travels with. Perhaps, even become one of his reckoners.

The greater the risk, the greater the reward. Even now, the man settles down, starting his fire, and ready to speak his story, whether someone is there to listen or not.

Break them, and die. Or at least, I'll complain, and probably ask one of the mods to do something.

1) Since the summoner is, well, illiterate. This thread will not be a 'Journal' per se, but rather, the stories the man speaks around the campfire at night, both to help him remember, and to pass along the knowledge to anyone who might listen. Of course, right now that's just his familiars.

2) As this is a 'campfire' and not a book, people are welcome to come and listen. Though I wish no RPing in this thread, UNLESS, you are traveling in the company of the man within the confines of the RP in the guild. If you do, I suppose you could consider all the entries here IC information you might have, as he will talk around the fire, every night just about. OF course the mods might have a problem with it, just saying I don't.

2A) A note on the above rule. Junkan is not fluent with the common language. Thus to intrepret his stories, your character would need to be skilled in the language of ogres.

3) Because it might not be clear, I ment no RPing in here, except on special occasions. Just that if you're traveling with him, you could use the stories in here, in your own RP in whatever thread we are resting in.

4) Gifts to the familars, Junkan, and the eventual Elysian, are welcome. Just pop in with a short 'dropping by' sort of RP post, your offering, and then dash off. I would prefer only people I RP with do this, but hell, I'm not picky.

5) For those special events which I might let people RP in here, I do expect people to follow the rules of good RPing. If you don't know what they are, there are tons of threads on Gaia to help explain it, and quite a few people that could explain it better than me. A good rule of thumb is, if you wouldn't get to do it in Project Nexus, don't bother trying to do it here.

6) And as I always say, have fun. The G in RPG does stand for Game, does it not? No matter if you're just reading this, or perhaps RPing with Junkan, I hope you all have fun.

To be entered when I actually have a Elysian of my own...

Also, my Familiars. The first and foremost, being Lilith.

User Image

Name: Lilith
Age: Unknown, though Junkan thinks she is quite young, relative to perhaps around age 4 in a human.
Date of Bonding: September 10th, 2005
Height: 6 inches, more or less, seems a bit more due to the volume of her flame hair.
Length: 8 inches, from nose, to rear. Her tail is an additional 4 inches to the end of the puff.
How they Bonded: See Legend entry number one, further on this page. Keep in mind that might not be exactly how, or why it happened, but that is what Junkan percieved to happen. Perhaps it was a vision, perhaps he just ate some spicy food and had a weird dream. Still, both Familiar and Summoner accept that as the truth.
Hit: Fire, Spicy Food, Rough and tumble games.
Miss: Quiet time, loud strangers, and bland food.

And here, the Cavetoad, Glop.
User Image

Name: Glop
Age: Junkan believes him to be relative to perhaps 12 in a human.
Date of Bonding: January 7th, 2006
Height: Just a hair (Or a wart as is) over 3 inches in height, as measure in the standard 'standing' position, rather than from foot to head.
Length: Again, measured in the standard 'standing' position, rather than with his legs spread, just a wart under 6 inches.
How they Bonded: (See Legend Entry Number 3)
Hit: Commanding positions. People respecting his authority. Frogs.
Miss: Certain loud, rambunciious, disrespectful familiars. "Lesser" (Normal) familiars. People saying "Aw, how cute!"

From before this thread even existed...

-- First Visit to the Crystal Temple, at the Masquerade Ball. Ate himself into a stupor, and passed out, missing all the excitement over the stealing of the crystal.

-- Acquired his first familiar, a small, cute little creature, named Lilith. Feels a special bond with the tiny thing, takes it along as a pet/animal companion.

-- And coming soon... the familiar Glop...

From after this thread existed.

Junkan and Lilith meet Odilen and her familiar BoCo. First contact with another familiar, they seemed to get along well.

Project Nexus event completed, somewhat. Well, he was there, though sick, to see the end of it.

Recieved the familiar Glop, the Cavetoad... of DOOM!

Found Turtle's Paradise.

Some might call them friends, some my call them brothers. To Junkan, these concepts are completely unknown. However he does know about reckoners. Sometimes they are little more than thugs, sometimes it is the closest of bonds. Reckoners work together, help each other, and will always avenge the death of one of their own. To become a reckoner with Junkan, is an honor he has only reserved for one person, and is not something to take lightly. Nor is it something you should back out of, without a lot of thought.

The oath:

Those he calls reckoners:

A traveling shaman, known only as Kha. Little is known about this reckoner, and Junkan rarely speaks his name, not without being so drunk that he completely forgets himself. Those that have heard of the man, know little about him. A little research, might reveal a nigh mythical figure. A human that was never believed to exist other than as some cautionary tale. Still, Junkan swears that he exists, that he's met him, and that he is in a reckoner pact with the man.

Got to thank Lady Ghost, Lady Khel, and Miss Epine for the shop, without them, none of this would exist, now would it? All hail them, shower them with your love. Shower I said! And gifts, gifts are always good.

Anyone reading this, is in the guild of course, thus, I don't have to advertise the shop here, you all have the link right now anyways.

There is probably more I should say here, other than things like "The Familiars, concept of Crystals of Gaia, and Elysians belong to The shop owners Paperghost and Kheleksul", and probably something else like "Original monsters and summons are trademarked by Square-Enix", and something else like "Steal art and die." or perhaps "I will crush you like an insect if you dare take anything from me or the shop! Buy/Earn one yourself, chump!"... but that's probably not a problem, since all of you should know this stuff already.

And I gotta thank Pie, for making all things good and possible.

*looks back at the man and then at her feet, blushing at her own awkwardness* "er...thank you"
"No problem, My Lady." D offers his arm, "Shall I show you the way out?"
*smiles quite relived and takes his arm gently* yes please...it probably would have done me well to study the maze myself... i was just on the balcony no more than twenty minutes ago
D laughs, "It could have been useful. So My Lady, how are you feeling now?"
*she smiles looking up into the moonlight* quite safer now...I nearly was in a panic haha...oh me! *turns to run back, and picks her delicate rose off of the ground again and returns to his side* ah...I nearly left this *gently puts the rose to her lips, feeling the soft maroon petals against them as they walked through the maze*
D stares for a bit then blushes and looks away. "My Lady, you are a Siren." D leads her to the stares that leads into the ballroom. "My Lady, it seems that someone is claiming the necklace I found. I must talk with him and will hopefully catch you before you leave. So I can have at least one dance with you." D bows.

I had followed the man clothed in the symbols of Fasali. He was, cold, the aspect of Winter's Wind. I hated the man, but knew it was my duty to follow him, help him, and witness that which would occur.

If not for Lilith, my flame would have been extinguished.

The horrors on the path were many. One in particular, this uncomfortable feeling that most seemed to enjoy. The earth dropped under me, and I was thrust into cold, bitter air, with no way to escape, except in death. My stomach leapt into my thraot, and my heart dropped to my toes. Never have I felt such a debilitating pain before, and I care never to again. Those that listen, beware of this 'flying', and the boats that sail the skies.

On the path towards the spark in the earth, I met several strange people. One, a quite mean looking person, and one that seemed quite useless as well. The humanoid female was very loud, though I don't know about what really. We met her in a place full of trees and plants, she seemed to be guiding around some green creature, much like Lilith, but different. Could this be a servant of Sellis set to help that woman? Perhaps imparting the strength and patience of earth, that she sorely lacked?

Another was a, strange woman. We would call her "Grenashint". How do you say, insane? She seemed to enjoy the flying boat, and inflicted much pain upon me and Lilith, while she took the controls. I am not sure if she's a cruel servant of Fasali, or just, crazy. During our time in the wooded land however, she recieved one of the small creatures as well. Perhaps this is some sign of importance? Hers seemed as well to be a servant of Filare.

I did not recieve a creature within the forest. No, there I had a task to do. From the look of things, it was what I was ment to do. Truly Filare must have been watching over my attempts. There was a man, injured, sick, and dying. The two women bickered over him, like Ogresses over a piece of mutton. Nothing was being accomplished though, and they seemed to refuse to go to blows for some reason. Humans... weird creatures.

Meanwhile, I was busy, doing what I must. Gathering the herbs and roots that would help heal the man, using my skills and magic granted by the Flame. With a little help from her guidance, I had the skills, and healed the man. Another worshipper of Filare, I believed at the time.

Saved, he got up, and left. Not even a token of tribute in return for saving his life. Humans.

The rest of the trip is... hazy now. I remember finding a spark of brilliant flame, deep underground. A large creature... flying. Sickness... confusion, lots of talking.... it was... odd, a nightmare.

Glop.

A Cavetoad, or so he says. I've never seen a toad that lives in a cave, but he swears they're quite common. Though he is of course, vastly superior to any other mere cavetoad.

And it's been like that, from day one. I cannot tell if he is supposed to be a servant for Fasali, or perhaps Fernai. What I do know however is that I am stuck wit him, and that he was sent to help me. Perhaps Filare wants me to become more than a Druid of Flame? Perhaps to cover all aspects of all the goddesses?

But there is no telling, at least, not for now.

....

It was in the aftermath of the quest. There was lots to reflect about. The nature of those I traveled with. The Druid I saved. Things I saw. Especially the Flame beneath the Earth.

That thing, it called to me. It made me sick, just being near it. But surely such a thing had to be a marvel of Fire and Nature. It had to be why Filare sent me.

I spent those next days looking for the Flame that burned beneath the Earth.

But I couldn't find the way back, no matter what I tried. So much time had I been ill upon that trip because of Fasali's cold touch. Hours turned to days, days to a week. I had not found anything, I had not time to eat, time to sleep. Everytime I closed my eyes or left to hunt, I would be tormented by the image of the Flame.

Lilith left me, to go hunt and fill her belly. Somehow, she seemed, different, as I looked, did not speak to me as often, did not play around me.

Finally, a crack in the earth was revealed to me. It was not the crack I had traveled down before, but I hoped somehow, it would lead back to the Flame.

The crack widened, and Filare surely must have blessed this route. A strange thing grew upon the ceiling, shedding a pale, faint light down over everything. It clouded my dark vision, and was low enough I could not normally see, but in my fevered state, I did not realize it.

A small form, broke from the foggy light, hopping towards me. Yellow it blended in well with the rocks in that half light. I didnt' see him coming until he was right on top of my foot.

And with a haunty voice he stared up at me evilly, hundreds of times his size and said, "FROG!" and gave my boot a lick.

I stared down at him, confused, hungry, tired, and not knowing what the hell to make of it.

The cavetoad frowned at me, and gave another lick. Nothing happened. Nothing at all. He huffed, and started stamping around me, croaking and throwing a fit. He talked more than, than anything else I ever knew, and he talked loud, for being so small. Cursing mostly, from what I got of it. Cursing me, cursing magic, cursing the caves, anything, other than himself. For as he said several times, he was perfect, it couldn't be his fault.

About that time, I started thinking about eating it.

The Flame was out of mind in the presense of that creature. Soon however, the peace would be interrupted.

Out of the half light it came. Four legs, covered in bony shells, pincers clacking loudly. It was easily a match for my own size, and might have killed me, if not for Glop.

Frustrated, it hopped up on it's face, giving it a lick, calling "FROG" again, and cursing. Nothing happened. Nothing at all.

But that was enough, I brought the War club out, called out Filare's name, and slammed it home with all the power I could muster, snapping the hulk's left arm, shattering the bone armor, and revealing a tasty, fleshy inside.

It gave a shill scream, tossing the toad off his face, and thrashing about as I brought the club back to a guard.

The toad, saved me, for surely without it, I would have died beneath bony claws and hard muscle. Instead, as the hulk charged in rage and pain, I slammed it time and time again, hitting that weak spot from before, causing it to reel with pain, and eventually collapse.

That night, Lilith returned.

Glop told me his name. We took the oath, and dined upon Umber Hulk. Afterwards, Lilith and Glop fought.

The Flame was out of my mind now, I looked, and had not found it. I shall never find it again, I think. And I'm at peace with that, for now. The company of my living flame Lilith, and my cavetoad, have filled that hole in my heart.
