Dominique sighed into the gilded summer wind, the call of Pegasi ringing in his ears. Around him, the lemongrass swayed, reaching above his head like hands of prayers, calling for a deity far, far away. The lush, verdant smell of soil and irises drifted in rhythm with the day, and as he reclined beneath a butterfly bush, he imagined what his life might be like, not so far from now.
It wasn't that he was a total failure, or he had no idea what to do with his life, it just seemed so fine in this moment right now- like this garden would be the end and start of him for the rest of his life.
Crinkling his nose nervously, he closed his eyes, listening to the tink-tink of the watering machine behind him. It was something that his blind brother, Vincente, had come up with- something that could help him water his ginormous plants without underwatering them or straining himself. He admired that brother of his for his perserverance and expertise in whatever he did, but it seemed like he would never be like him- not with his lazy outlook on life.
A small smirk painted itself over his countenace before he sighed and leaned back into the grass again, the bright rays sending shivers up his spine.

This would've been a wonderful day, a wonderful day indeed. After all, the sun was shining brightly up in the vast blue sky and there wasn't a single cloud to be seen. Yes, this would've and could've been a wonderful day... if he hadn't gotten lost that is.
No no nooooo, it wasn't because he was lost - because he wasn't - it was because he was.... misplaced. Unfamiliar of his surroundings. Yes that's right, he was a tad flustered, but most definitely not lost.
The soft sigh of the wind reminded Kai of how he could be out at the beach; paddling along lazily on his tiny surfboard, letting the cool waters wash themselves over his overheated body, the cry of dangerous gulls in the sky, the feel of the warm, silky sand between his paws, the... the...
"Oh stop it Kai, you're only makin' yourself feel worse..." He mumbled to himself irately as he reached out with a paw and grabbed onto a leaf. If only he hadn't decided to take a shortcut... If only he hadn't decided to check out that curious hole in the fence... If only he hadn't been so freakin' curious... He could be at the beach right now, enjoying the luxuries of a carefree life. But no, here he was, lost in someone's jungle of a backyard and he was pissed.
With a strong swipe of the paw, he swept the large leaf aside and stomped past the tall, green stalk that it belonged to. He ran a paw through his red tipped hair and let out a small sigh, "Dude, chill. Yeah. This... forest...can be enjoyable too.... IF I WERE ELLI."
Shoving his paw into the front pocket of his overalls, his fingers touched.... nothing. Well this was just downright peachy, he was lost, beach deprived, angry, lonely, and he didn't have any snicker doodle crumbs left.
"What'd I do to this deserve this?"
