Post your votes since there are too many contestants for a poll & please make it noticeable (bold it or make it big or something) so that it's easier to count and I don't skip anyone's.

No elimination except for nonentries, I believe.

-------------Sher!ock's Comments

---Kyuuchan
The sprinkler idea isn't something I would've thought of (creative), and though it does fit the theme, it doesn't really scream Childhood. Your face looks a little upset to me. A close-up may have been better, like from an above angle of you sitting over the sprinkler (I used to do that all the time). It looks a little more like a candid shot than something a camwhore would pose for. You could've done more with this.

---K O K O- is too delicate
First of all, a fourth of the picture is your wall and window. Cropping is your friend. Beneath that, I find a very childish picture. It was a cute idea to have the teddy with a calculator. The picture's a little dark, but it's clear and smooth. I'd've liked to see your face a little more, but I'm glad you're not looking at the camera. It wouldn't suit this picture. I like your feet in the air. It bothers me a bit that I can see a bunch of stuff in your room mainly in that shelf thing, but it's not as distracting as some I've seen, and it is an appropriate setting. Maybe if it were other toys on the shelves, it'd've been better.

---Casanova Kiss
I don't really understand this one. You've got a toy that you're stepping on, and then you're posing with it as if for a Myspace picture. Someone suggested that it's when kids beat up their toys and then love them again, which I guess fits the theme, but you don't convey that well. On a lighter note, your quality is great, and you do look like a camwhore in the second photo. You're barely in the first, but that's acceptable with two photos.

---Mintea Drops
Your photo needs to be sized down, and I don't like the text. I can see that it's a blanket and you, so the text was superfluous. The glasses make you look older since most kids don't have glasses like that. And are you wearing a robe? You already know the quality is poor, and I understand your intent, but I don't think you were successful with it. I realize kids are attached to their blankets and it may be important to you as childhood, but I feel like you could've done something a little better and more universal than that. But although the shot isn't quite camwhorish, you're at least the obvious focus of the shot.

---Previously Kagome_Kitsune
My favorite. This oozes childhood. I may have been confused for a bit without the sign, so that was a good touch. Love the rainbow gate. Your hair, bracelets, socks, and shirt are all perfect. Your expression and pose are great. I love that I can see a teensy bit of what's in the closet, and it adds to the childish theme (like the pumpkin thing?). While the quality isn't bad, it could've been better. But this picture really wowed me. As soon as I saw it, I said aloud, "This is so cuuuute~!"

---sandwich artist
Fits the theme well, but I think you got a little too deep in your role and forgot to be a camwhore. You look exactly like a kid whose mom came in to take a picture 'cause she thought her little girl was being adorable, which includes the quality of a mom taking a shot. I'm not sure I like the dress, and your room is distracting, but your hair is great, and it's interesting that you're feeding one of the party guests. You had a great idea, but I feel you could've done it better.

---Sminkle is a Parasite
I like the way you've made a collage of photos in a polaroid shape, but it should be white not grey. In the first picture, you look sleepy, which is kinda boring. In the last one, you still don't look too excited, but it's improved. I wish you hadn't cut your face off so much, though. Bubbles don't really photograph well since they're clear and shiny. I do like the crown in the first shot and the second shot with the ice cream and stuff is cute. I don't like the third shot at all, though. I'm not sure you really pulled off the theme entirely. Overall, I think the polaroid collage thingy was the best thing about this.

---Lady Glompage
As always, your photo stands out the most, and takes a twist that no one else's does. Yours is the only one that isn't playful. I love the idea here. I'm not really sure if it's an issue or not, but the photo is dark enough that I didn't notice the person under the bed for a moment, but I did notice him/her after a second or two. So maybe it should be slightly lighter, but that may take away from the meaning since every kid knows that monsters don't exist when there's light. I like that the light at the top left of the photo draws attention to you, and I love that you're hiding under the blanket with your feet poking out. This is a very artistic photo, and I love it.

---Hover.Crab
I love the color and all the accessories and all that stuff. Dress-up is rather uncreative for the theme (it was the first thing I thought of & I went with it for my example), and you don't really pull off "child" in this picture for me, except for the messy lipstick, which is a great touch. You look more like a teenager who thought it'd be fun to wear all the necklaces she could find and a silly hat then take a photo shoot. It's very camwhorish, though, and the quality is great. The stuff around you in the room is a little distracting, but overall I really like this picture.

---kentaa
Your fuzzy chin is distracting from the theme, and your smile unfortunately looks really fake. I was hoping for more than just, "Hey, I'm holding some toys!" but it seems that's what you've given us. On the bright side, your quality is fine, you're definitely the focus of the shot, and I love how the picture has an overall blue theme to it.

---Veenilla
This photo's kinda boring, from the background to your clothes to your expression. (Though at least this means there's nothing distracting). Childhood to me was all about extremes. I understand what you were trying to accomplish with this, but you don't look excited enough to be playing with a cat. Maybe if were holding him up and grinning at him or something. Also, the picture's quality could be improved such as with lighting or color, but you're clearly the focus of the shot. Overall, it's kinda cute, but mediocre.

-GrilledTofu-'s Judgment

~~~Kyuuchan
Theme:
Playing with water and sprinklers during hot summer days,
has been a childhood tradition for a long time. I love the
quirkiness of the picture of an attempt to fly. I would have loved
to see more colors, when I think of childhood, I think of strong
bright colors, and here I only see the dark blue and the green grass
Score: 20
Wow Factor:
I like the way your arms and pose bring the viewer to you.
Again colors would have been more eye-catching, for this theme
keep in mind.
Score: 16
Creativity:
I actually would have never thought of having fun with a sprinkler
for this theme. So, props on that. You could have been a little more creative
with the sprinkler itself because I wish I could see more of the water.
Score: 12
Quality:
I like how the camera is focused on you. I wish you could have cropped the
picture a little closer. I see some empty space and I don't think it's necessary.
Score: 7
Camwhorishness:
Again you are the focus: props! However, your face is in the shadows and
covered by your hair. Just a little more attention to little details like that.
Score: 7
Pending Score: (62+(Popular Vote)) / 100
~~~K O K O- is too delicate

Theme:
I remember when one dollar made me feel like the richest boy in the
world. I think this idea is really cute and it does show childhood,
especially with the added teddy bear.

Score: 21

Wow Factor:
The teddy bear and the coins bring me into the picture. However,
the lack of face and abundance of extra background does not add
any wow factor.

Score: 17

Creativity:
I think the idea is really creative, you could have easily just been playing
with the teddy bear, but you brought another element of childhood. I'm not
complaining about your creativity, but more cute props like paper to take notes,
with childhood handwriting, and like different teddies doing different jobs.

Score: 13

Quality:
The foreground is well lit, keeping the focus on your actions. However, the
background is slightly distracting. And some picture cropping would help, too.

Score: 7

Camwhorishness
I can see the lighting focuses on your face, but it's still hidden. Not necessarily
looking at the camera, but certainly not lost.

Score: 7

Pending Score: (65+(Popular Vote)) / 100

~~~Casanova Kiss
Theme:
I can see the love/hate relationship children have with their toys and possessions.
The only thing that I can critique, in terms of the theme, is the emotion portrayed in
the second picture. I don't feel like it contrasts the first picture (if that's what you were
going for: contrast) More excitement, joy would have shown that contrast.
Score: 21
Wow Factor:
Three aspects of the pictures bring me into the picture: the lion's eyes, the rainbow, and your eyes. I think this is a picture that could have been more powerful, if you were looking at the camera.
Score: 18
Creativity:
I like how you created a story by putting two images together props on that. Sadly, teddy bears are probably the firs thing I would have thought of doing, and I did, for
one of the sample picture.
Score: 12
Quality:
I really enjoyed the rainbow. Reoccurring elements in a series of pictures help the
viewer understand that the pictures belong together. I also like how you played with
the both pictures colors to create different moods.
Score: 9
Camwhorishness:
I'm still debating if your face should have been in the first picture or not. But other than
that i can clearly see you are the focus of the picture.
Score: 9
Pending Score: (69+(Popular Vote)) / 100
Mintea Drops
Theme:
Personally, I've never had a close relationship to a blanket, but I see this idea
reoccurring in many American kids shows. I understand the terms of a comfort
blanket, especially as a child. I wish I could see more comfort with your emotions.
Score: 20
Wow Factor:
It's hard for me to get drawn into this picture. I wish there was a third element
to understand the comfort you take in the blanket, then I could get more drawn in.
Score: 16
Creativity:
I like the contrast between you and the blanket. Making it clear you are separate
entities. I wish you could thought of more creative way to present this relationship.
Score: 10
Quality:
The picture is really blurry, cellphone? Perhaps adjust some settings in the camera itself. If you are using a camera lower the ISO level to reduce the grainy look too.
Score: 6
Camwhorishness:
You are the focus. Your face is clear and so are your emotions.
Score: 9
Pending Score: (61+(Popular Vote)) / 100
Previously Kagome_Kitsune
Theme:
Being an only child, for some reason I have never been grounded or received
time-out. I love the playfulness of the picture and the emotion in your face. You
look like a little kid, it's cute.
Score: 24
Wow Factor:
There is a lot going in the picture, yet I'm drawn to the picture. After looking at your, I'm
forced to look around the picture to understand the story. It's like a storybook: reading a story, each elements adds a new dimension.
Score: 18
Creativity:
Instead of choosing the happiness of childhood, you chose the opposite. Props on that. I love the combined of props, clothing, and paper to interpret the theme.
Score: 14
Quality:
The only complain I have is the background. It really doesn't fit the theme. Watch
your background when you take pictures.
Score: 8
Camwhorishness:
Focus on you and your emotions. Your face is a little less bright than the rest of the picture though.
Score: 8
Pending Score: (72+(Popular Vote)) / 100
sandwich artist:
Theme:
Oh! The playfulness of pretending to have lunch with your stuffed animals. They were
real and they talked to me, you know! It's a cute concept! Every kid pretended their toys were real one time or another.
Score: 24
Wow Factor:
What draws me into this picture as well, is the fact that it looks like an actual snapshot
from the past. It looks like you were are actually playing with your toys and your mom
came in with a camera and took a snap shot of you. That draws me in.
Score: 18
Creativity:
I like the added touch of the dress. It looks like you took it out of your mom's closet
to play with it. Something a child would do! The props are excellent.
Score: 13
Quality:
I don't know what to do about this category, because it does look like a snap shot,
which added to both the wow factor and the theme category. However, this is when I have to take some points away. Your strength is also your weakness. Balance?
Score: 7
Camwhorishness:
The camera is slightly more focused on your toys than you. Watch for that. You are the
star!
Score: 8
Pending Score: (70+(Popular Vote)) / 100
Sminkle is a Parasite
Theme:
Bubbles, Ice Cream Cone, and Stuffed Animals! Childhood to the extreme. Same with
the colors, the purple and blue theme is apparent. The playfulness of the polaroid collage adds to the childhood theme as well.
Score: 23
Wow Factor:
I like the different art medium of presentation. It's bringing a reality into a single picture. It's almost as if the pictures were laying down on my table. It's a good way too
catch the eye.
Score: 18
Creativity:
This clearly shows your creative talents with digital editing. I just hope you don't always rely on this medium to present your work. Perhaps, try to use it in a different
medium every round.
Score: 14
Quality:
I find the presentation a little messy. I like order, but I can see why disorder works
too at times. It's really up to the viewer to decide.
Score: 7
Camwhorishness:
You are both lost and found in this presentation. You are evident, but hidden too.
Score: 7
Pending Score: (69+(Popular Vote)) / 100
Lady Glompage
Theme:
I remember being afraid of the monster under my bed or in the closet. I could not
sleep peacefully. This picture captures this exact emotion in a very dark humor style.
Both elements of the picture compliment each other to tell the story of a child in fear.
Score: 25
Wow Factor:
This is my favorite picture this round. It captures so many things at once that I just want to keep exploring it. The colors are beautiful.
Score: 20
Creativity:
Everything is so well though out, the colors, the contrast, it's creative genius!
Score: 15
Quality:
Lighting is perfect and so is the angle of capturing this moment. The digital editing is
basically flawless.
Score: 10
Camwhorishness:
One thing: I see your face perfectly fine as the monster, but your hair covers your eyes a little too much as the child on the bed. A tiny bit less bangs would have made your
eyes pierce fear in the viewer.
Score: 9
Pending Score: (79+(Popular Vote)) / 100
Hover.Crab
Theme:
Dress up! I still play that sometimes. And I of course take pictures! Everything about it, including the small details, like the messed up lipstick, adds to the childish theme.
Score: 25
Wow Factor:
This is my second favorite picture of this round. It also tells a story of a little girl
rummaging through her mother's closet and putting on her clothes.
Score: 20
Creativity:
It must have taken a lot of time to put on all those necklaces. The outfit is so ridiculously amazing! Very a la mode!
Score: 15
Quality:
I like the green sheen and the lighting. The background is what concerns me. The left is acceptable, but the right is a little out of place. Cropping!?
Camwhorishness:
You are the star, baby!
Pending Score: (79+(Popular Vote)) / 100
kentaa
Theme:
I like how you brought all those childhood toys and games, but kept with a blue theme. It adds consistency to the picture and also some playfulness. Your face is great: a kid enjoying his toys.
Score: 22
Your expression is the one of the best elements in this picture:
Score: 17
Again, the color consistency is a great element for pictures.
Score: 13
It's a little unorganized. Would have loved to see more consistency, not just with
Do you { know } what it's all about
Are you brave enough to { figure } out
So before I say anything about anyone elses picture, I want to say something about mine.
My picture was inspired by real life and "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown", a musical. When I was little I always carried around my baby blanket, we were inseparable. I also always loved Peanuts comics, and related very well to Linus. We did the musical in my senior year, and I was stage manager for it. The blue blanket used in this picture was used in the scene "My Blanket & Me" which is a song sung by Linus about his blanket.
:]
The lighting wasn't too great on my picture, but it looks like a lot of the pictures of me when I was little. My mom always used to put my hair up in this little Pebbles ponytail thing. Haha. I tried to do a thumb sucking shot, but it didn't get the loving emotion across like I wanted it to.
My Critique of the others:
Kyuuchan:
I enjoyed how free spirited yours was. I used to run through sprinklers all the time as a child. I would have liked to see more of your face though.
K O KO- is too delicate
I loved the lighting in this, and the idea behind it. My family used to collect change then count it together. We would sit on my parents bed and make it a family affair. Again though, I would have liked a little more in the face. You looked a little upset or bored. I know when I was a kid, counting change was the most exciting thing for me. (OMG I HAVE THREE DOLLARS IM RICH sort of thing. xD)
Casanova Kiss
I don't quite understand what you were going for. Angry against the toy, then loving it. It was a weird transition of emotions for me with no explanation that I can see. I adore the color of your eyes and the lighting in both pictures. I just don't understand what is going on.
That one was so cute! The colors just radiated childhood to me, and your expression is PERFECT. I loved the many bracelets, I used to wear a ton of home made bracelets when I was little. The rainbow gate type thing and the time out sign really reminded me of Rugrats for some reason. I loved it. <3
Teaparty! You look a little crazy in this though. D: Like EAT IT b***h PUPPY D:< o.o I think the multitude of food is funny and adorable. There is a drawer open in the background and what appears to be a potato chip bag on the floor. Messy, messy. x3
Sminkle is a Parasite
This collection of pictures really didn't tell a story or anything which is kind of what I expect when more than one is made into a collage. You ":3" expression looks like you were hypnotized, almost bored. The "i love bubbles" one was very cute, and "POP!!!" was adorable. It just seemed that the first one and the one under "i love bubbles" threw me off. It was disconnected.
Lady Glompage
Oh my! Monsters under your bed, dearie. I enjoyed this because monsters under my bed was a big thing when I was little. It gave me a chuckle. At first I didn't notice the person under the bed, but as soon as I saw he/she I was like OHHHH I GET IT.
Hover.Crab
One of my absolute favorites. I thought of doing dress up, but changed my mind because I figured everyone would do it. xD The colors and the expression are amazing. This picture is absolutely wonderful. I think you did an amazing job on this one.
kentaa
Another favorite
You look so adorable, bright, and happy. Three very big things in childhood. <3 The blue color scheme was nice too. Your expression is priceless, and brought a smile to my face as soon as I saw it.
Veenilla
I have no idea how this has to do with childhood to be honest. D: I like the lighting, and the cat looks pissed. xD
---
So as you may have garnered from this my Favorites are kentaa and Hover.Crab...and my vote goes to....
Hover.Crab !
Hers was just my absolute favorite. I loved everything about that picture.
Mintea, in Veenilla's defense,
I do think I understand where childhood comes in there.
In fact, I was thinking about it the day I saw her entry, a few hours before.
Kids LOVE to mess with animals and love on them and stuff,
and animals haaate it. xD
'Cause kids always carry them in awkward ways or don't realize they're hurting them.
Ahh! biggrin So cute. I wanted someone to make the tea party with teddies.... My wish has been granted. xD How much of the food is real??? The cake looks too good to be true (besides its partially on the bed sheets lol) I know the cookies are real! lol, right?
And thanks so much for the vote sandwich artist! <3
I used to count the money when i was young too... It was entertaining! XD Make piles and piles... But they weren't all quarters, K O K O you're rich in quarters!!! lol
Sminkle is a Parasite- your bubbles look dangerous! xD
Full critique comes later.
actually, 100% of the food is fake. o:
as a child, I had basically any type of play food you could think of.
I had a full kitchen set, too.
a stove, fridge, microwave, and table. n___________n
I also made my room a mess to try and get the feel of childhood, as well.
that's why there's cups on the dresser and drawers open and blankets all over the floor mad
Teddy isn't good at adding, so we lost count of how much we had already counted out. EVEN THOUGH I GAVE HIM A CALCULATOR! D:<
It's actually $164 in quarters. There's a few other banks for seperate coins like dimes, only $40 in that one. & nickels, almost $25 in that one.
We're saving up for a new lense that's $400.
Eventually we'll [Anthony & I] deposit the money in a bank account so it's not all quarters when we buy it! biggrin
I didn't want to show my face. ;__;
Not really, I just liked that shot the best out of three billion.
Now that I'm not in the contest I can vote without being biased~
That being said, my vote goes to Previously Kagome Kitsune.
It's colorful, she's getting time out, and she's pouting.
Although that pen looks a little small for her, I love it. x]
