1) You are allowed to host your own contests.
2) Keep contests to just one thing (e.g. bumping) - if you have more than one ongoing contest, put it in a separate thread (it makes it easier to find)
3) You are allowed to charge a fee to enter the contest, if you give at least 90% of it back as prize money. No hording gold!
4) Try to keep your contests fairly original - I don't want a million avy art contests!
5) As on the main thread, respect the Captains and Crew - they can delete your thread if they need to (but it doesn't need to come to that)
