- The largest continent, broken from the Valley of the Sun by the mother of all rivers, the River of the Gods. The land boasts great stretches of beaches on the coasts, rocky harbors, and island chains, but the most defining feature of this land is the giant network of forests covering thousands of miles, with some areas almost divided from the mainland by mountain chains or deep rivers. Tales seem to stem from the swamps, in the deepest parts of the forests, of strange animals blessed by the Goddess of the Earth herself.
The cultures are just as vast and diverse, being home to the largest population of wolves in Dacaiana. As more and more wolves came to live here, the land was given many different names such as, “Land of A Thousand Forests”, “Earthsheart”, and “Terra”, and even the individual child-forests are often named by their inhabitants.
- Weather This continent has the best examples of all four seasons. In the spring, the forests across the land are in bloom, yet still a little thin from losing their leaves. Temperatures are comfortable (in the high 60s and mid 70s F), and the breezes are fragrant and light. Spring showers and the symphony of birdsong afterwards are common. The temperatures rise in summer (into the mid 80s with cooler nights), and the balmy air feels more humid in the south. The forests are thickened and the meadows are tall, and warmer breezes suggest summer storms. The land experiences a rainy season in late summer and early fall, where strong thunderstorms happen nearly every day. Late autumn becomes cooler (low 60s to mid 50s), and the foliage begins changing before it drops completely with the onset of winter. Heavy snow or blizzards are uncommon, though areas in the north of the land do occasionally get a nice thin blanket. Southern areas get flurries that almost never stick, though winter rain storms are much more common.
- Prey A large range of prey (namely North American) can be found in A Thousand Forests, as well as other predators. Common prey includes small mammals like mice, squirrel, ferrets, rabbits, possums, otters, hogs, and wildcats, while large mammals include mostly deer. All manner of bird can be found here, from songbirds to waterfowl to falcons and owls. Many species of freshwater fish can be found in the lakes and rivers, while the swamps are teeming with frogs and the occasional alligator. Large predators consist of bears, cougars, lynx, and foxes. Small lizards, snakes, and uncountable insect species make up the rest of the list.
