Ok..I don't teach drums... I teach guitar... I dont play drums... I play strings and wood wind... I usually don't get much closer than a couple of feet... So why this post?
well because for some reason this drummer's teacher thinks it would help him improve his skill if he played with another instrument... "sure" I said when he came up to me and asked if I would play with him. But little did I know...
This drummer is the loudest ******** thing on the planet.
So, my problem is... How can I get him to quieten down a bit? It gets to the point where he can't hear me at all and just goes for his life. I've tried turning my amp up louder, but he just gets louder again and fights against it. I've talked about it with him, but he doesn't seem to understand that if he wants to play in a band, he needs to be a able to hear the other band members!
Should I try play some quieter songs with him and then slowly build up? Should I just yell my head off at him and turn my amp up louder? Should I just give up on him and hand him over to someone else?
