"After many complaints surfaced that the latest PlayStation 3 firmware update, version 2.40, was bricking user's consoles, Sony has confirmed that it is looking into the matter.
The latest update, which will bring gamers a few of their most requested features, in-game XMB (XrossMediaBar) and "trophies" for online gaming, was officially released this morning but many users have claimed that the update is freezing or even bricking their consoles, making reformatting the hard drive the only solution. "

Ive had no problems, seems to be while or shortly after that the bricking occurs

Yeah it makes playing a gaome online hard esspecially Guitarhero and rockband online with all the lag.
It freezs horribly for me i was waiting for an hour to leave the in game xmb to continue my career in skate.

i've had no problems, i played gta 4, burnout paradise and some ps 2 games...and so far no freezing, plus i've had home running when i'm not playing video games and so far no freezing.....i bet it's the people that are whining and complaining that it freezes up on...and those who are happy we finally got the stuff we been asking for, the systems are fine (lol)

jbloodbath2000 i've had no problems, i played gta 4, burnout paradise and some ps 2 games...and so far no freezing, plus i've had home running when i'm not playing video games and so far no freezing.....i bet it's the people that are whining and complaining that it freezes up on...and those who are happy we finally got the stuff we been asking for, the systems are fine (lol) it's not freezing ps3's after it been downloaded and installed. it bricking them while the update is being downloaded/installed
