Should people living in apartments or condos be allowed to own roosters?
It is not like they make a lot of noise at ALL hours!

sure why not, you could probably train a rooster not to crow a dawn. If it doesn't crow and wake people the no one else should care if you have a rooster.

I'm against this one in an urban environment unless it's like a house with a fenced in back yard. Roosters naturally need lots of room to run around and they just poop wherever they need to, so it would be impossible to keep your house clean if there was a rooster running around in it. And to have just a "Rooster Room" with straw or something for it to poop on and keep it locked up in there all the time would be cruel and inhumane because it wouldn't have enough space to get the exercise needed. Also, roosters naturally can fly at least like 30 feet in the air (I owned a rooster a few years ago and it slept in the trees around our house) so being inside all the time would be going against its nature. And to let a rooster outside in the city would be dangerous both for it and for passing traffic/pedestrians/etc.

I have no idea whether or not this should be permitted, so i will have to remain neutral... Which reminds me... I think all polls should have a neutral option, since that is one of the three choices we have for ALL the threads in this section. mrgreen
(In fact, I am editing the rules to include something about this.)

When I worked at an amusement park 2 years ago, as a ride operator, there was a petting zoo next to one of my rides, and the petting zoo had a rooster in it. Somewhere I heard a myth that roosters crow at dawn, that is true, but they forgot to mention that they keep crowing ALL day long. gonk
I'm against urban roosters they are worse than barking dogs scream
btw that ride I worked at is gone now, it was replaced by an even worse ride rolleyes

Yes, I would love to have a rooster as a pet! They are so pretty! People should be allowed to have any pet they please anywhere! They are natural alarm clocks. They are birds that should be able to be trained so that they will not disturb the neighbors. I want a rooster! cool

I think roosters would make too much noise, and I like to sleep past dawn. I say no roosters. xp

if the person has a big enough place to keep the rooster why not allow them to keep it, people should be up first thing in the morning anyway

I'm for
They must have enough room for the rooster. If you like sleeping in, i have another solution, go to sleep earlier It's not like urban areas don't have enough noise.

I like chickens, and I support the idea of keeping them as pets because I really want one. As for the noise problem... I'm sure that can be figured out somehow...though since I don't own a chicken and haven't observed them much I can't think of a humane way to shut them up. 3nodding

I'd have to have a backyard if I had one. And I'd try to watch it closely to prevent it from getting hit like any other doggy I would own. 3nodding
