Should people be allowed to talk on their cell phones while driving?
In my state this is about to become illegal. People will only be able to talk using hands free devices and only then if they are 18 or older. I think this is a great thing.
There have been many occasions when another driver has almost hit me due to the fact they were on a cell phone all the while they were completely oblivious to this.

I've talked on my cell phone while driving, and i nearly ran myself off the road. after that i have tried to avoid doing it because i know how distracting it is.
The new laws are good.

I think it should be illegal to talk on the phone while driving. I suppose those hands-free things might be nice. I haven't encountered those, and it would be more like talking with someone who was in the car with you, so I can see where that would be acceptable.
If you don't have the hands-free stuff, then it only takes a moment to pull over to talk on the phone. if it is an emergency, then that would be the best anyway, and if it isn't an emergency, then there is no reason to be on the phone while driving in the first place.

I'm glad the no talking while driving law comes into effect tomorrow (July 1st), because I've noticed many clueless drivers on the roads, and most of them have a cell phone to their ear, the other 5% or so of clueless drivers are eating or doing other stupid stuff like that.

I think the world will be a safer place if people were not permitted to use their cell phones while driving!

I am going to be for this one. I love to talk on my cell phone. However, I would use a hands free device if it were made illegal. I am a careful driver.

well no people should not be able to talk on cell phones while driving, ther attention is supposed to be only on the road not about whatever the S.O.B. wants to say to them while he or she is driving. if its that importantthe driver should pull over to the side of the road or nearest gas station whatever to avoid anything from happening

If people are so obsessed that they end up getting in crashes from thier cell phones, then it should be illegal.
