My side: For
But only in extreme, undeniably guilty cases ninja
If a person is an immediate threat to themself and others around her/him (such as a homicidal killer with visible contempt for random people) and has committed a crime such as pre-planned (the word is escaping my grasp stressed ) murder, and he's showing signs of wanting to harm inmates (threatening to kill/maim/hurt anyone who gets within a few feet of her, things like that), the death penalty is completely alright because by using it you're keeping him/her from causing a lot more damage to themself and keeping the other inmates safe. Each situation should be looked at in terms of safety for the other prisongoers and the guards, the person's own sanity and likeliness of reconciling themself, and the enormity of the crime.
The death penalty is also a lot more humane than other sentences, like life without parole. There's an extremely interesting short story called "The Bet" that I'll share when I get it typed up... If a person is in prison for the rest of their life and they know it, it's more taxing and destroying to their mind to know that they're trapped forever, so the death penalty would be a better choice in this case.
Now let's see some againsts ^.^ Both sides have very good points ninja I wish I could pick both xd

More people killed, the less in the jails. Jails take up alot of land and money. I'll go ahead and say I'm for it.

im both for and against it
Also it takes to long for a person on death row to be actually put to death. To much in between time, if they know the person did the crime like take other peoples lives, i say fry there a** instead of giving then life in jail.

I'm undecided
I'm against killing someone as a common punishment, but in those rare cases were someone killed many people, and is defiantly still a risk to others and himself, then the death punishment could be justified.

I am neutral on this one. I have heard of too many cases where someone has died when they were not guilty. I have also just read John Grisham's The Innocent Man.

But... What about those people who have murdered many other people and claim that they will not stop no matter what happens to them?
Would you rather have these people in jail, killing other inmates? Isn't that, in a way even worse than sentencing the one person to death?

well yes if they are still a threat to other people even him or herself, why wait around to see if they will change, as an example if i snapped one day and killed everyone in your family and loved ones wouldn't you rather have something done to me instead of sitting in jail for 30 years. Picture 30 years later and you heard i was being released. would your views change saying he changed his ways, or would the fact that i should have neen put to deather 30 odd years ago still be in your mind.
that was an example to help promote the death penalty.

Hmm... I dunno that your example is all that great, Questions box. If you snapped and killed my family, you would probably prefer the Death Penalty to what would happen if I ever got my hands on you... In which case I would be on trial, possibly facing the Death penalty myself...

i know it wasnt the best example but you get my point of why i should of been facing the death penalty instead of sitting behind bars for many years,. not regretting what i have down. and who knows if i or that person finally got out they could move onto the next person killing a pile of people disposing the bodies in different places.
the main point of all this was to speed up the death penalty if thats what they are calling for then fry there a**.

I'm for
As long as it is for people who've killed many others.
Just think about it. Everyone has a conscience and the guilt from killing those people would overwelm them. I don't believe people are evil. People just lack self-control. It would be better to kill them then to let them suffer through all that.

i must watch to much tv, because some show i was watching today was talking about capital punishment. the show was all in the family. Mike made a valade point what is the purpose of capital punishment. what dose that prove when you killed a person for killing others. Archie's response was something about wouldnt you like to get your hands on the person if god forbid the man slit your wifes throat.
