Story
Akane is your typical teenage girl...until she swallows the Dragon Jewels and is transported to the Heian period of ancient Japan! There in the capital city, Akane learns that she has been foreordained to lead the people as the Priestess of the Dragon God!

Tohko Mizuno made her mangaka debut with Night Walk, which ran in Lunatic LaLa magazine in 1995. Showcasing her delicate line work and use of rich textures and patterns, the quasi-historical Haruka is Mizuno's first serialized manga and is based on a video game of the same name. It has spawned several books, including a fanbook, a super guidebook, and a collection of illustrations. Mizuno is also the author of Mukashi, Oboronaru Otoko Arikeri (Once Upon a Time, There Was a Hazy Man).

Volume 1

Princess Fuji informs Akane that the Eight Guardians must find the Four Sacred Talismans if they ever hope to control the Four Gods. That's going to be difficult since the location of these sacred objects is secret. Akane's got to be quick, however--Shirin and Sefle are looking for them too.
Volume 9
Shirin will do anything to get her hands on the Four Sacred Talismans. Disguised as Akane, she tries flirting with Eisen. When that fails, she travels to the Matsuo Taisha Shrine and tries to kill Takamichi!
Volume 10
Eisen and Little Tengu journey to Funaoka Mountain in search of the second of the Four Sacred Talismans. Unfortunately, they bump into a spirit who insists on blocking their path. One more unyielding phantasm, one more talisman… just another day beyond the stream of time.
Volume 11
Working together as the Phoenix of the Heaven and the Phoenix of the Earth, Inori and Shimon go after the Talisman of the South. There are evil spirits hanging around, however, and they need to be vanquished before a third talisman can be added to their cache. Meanwhile, back at Tsuchimikado palace, Akane has an idea about how to stop the ongoing war between humans and demons. Could love be the answer?
Volume 12
The Azure Dragon of the East (the last of the Four Sacred Talismans) continues to elude Akane and her friends. In the past, the location of each heavenly charm was revealed in a dream. But for the past ten days, no one has been sleeping or dreaming. Without this last talisman, Akane can’t assemble the Four Gods. One way or another, she needs to get some rest. Otherwise she will never ascend to her rightful place as Dragon God priestess.
Volume 13
Even though all Four Talismans are now safely in their possession, Akane and the guardians continue to face seemingly insurmountable challenges. For one thing, they discover that the Four Gods have been cursed. Now, instead of protecting the Capital, the heavenly deities are compelled to demolish it. And if the city is destroyed, that means the Eight Guardians will be destroyed as well!
Volume 14
The bond between the Eight Guardians has been severed, sending them into confusion and chaos. Worse, they've all lost their memories of Akane! Unless the Guardians can save the Shinsenen Garden, the Capital will die. But how can they accomplish anything without each other--or their Priestess?

The Eight Guardians have lost their memories of each other and Akane, shattering the mystical bond between them. Akane's only hope is to find the Curse Seed, which has the power to restore their memories. But can she fight the Demon Clan, protect the Capital and break the curse without the Guardians by her side?

Akane is determined to face Akram on his own turf, but within the sacred cave of the Demon Clan nothing is as it seems.
