'Welcome to the Laboratory'

User Image
Deep within the recesses of Dawn Castle lies the dungeon like room called the Laboratory.
Within this dreary mess of alchemy symbols, potions brewing, and plants being grown off the very walls and tables is a workspace for all Striders. Within this dungeon Striders may advance themselves in the arts of Poison, Alchemy, Potions, and Herblore.
Aligned with book cases filled with tomes and scrolls of various plants and substances, all the information you will need to make the deadliest poisons, or most vital healing potions is right here. The entrance only known to Striders in at the dead center of the Courtyard of Dawn Castle, which also makes for a very good stronghold...

Raigon walked into the labratory and took off his coat but not before taking a pair of spectacals out of his coat that are enhanced and allow him to see things even clearer than he already could. Raigon then removed quiet a few rare herbs from his trench coat. Grabing an enchanted pedastol and grinding stone that was from he race he went over to the other tables picking up heaters glass viles and other tools that he would need for making the potion he was making. Raigon was down there for hours working on the potion when he hit a problem. Raigon said in a frustrated voice while looking down at his notes " I have been calculating this formula for well over 10 years and i still cannot get it down perfectly." Raigon looked at it knowing that as soon as he was able to make it perfectly he was going to start distributing it out to the Dawn Striders for it was a potion that allowed one who was out of energy from fighting and still has many opponets to go would allow them to go on fighting with the strength of a werewolf along with the agility and speed. " This would definatley help us out this potion is a addative that allows the strength of a werewolf and speed and agility to be added onto that of the host who drinks it will have their normal strength times that of a werewolf." Raigon looked down at his notes making scribbles on it. "The only thing i have to do would be to make the draw back not so bad because if you drink this potion one could be out for weeks depending on how thier mental strength was." With that Raigon sat down and started to think.

Abrien Crept into the Lab hoping to be able to create a potive or salve that could make his horrendous scarring go away

he grabbed a mortar and pestle and began grinding away at a few herbs he knew had rejuvenating properties, once all the liquids had been ground from them he poured it into a glass vial and scraped the pulp from the bottom and smeared it into a small dish. Abrien boiled a container of water and poured the vial into the container to water. "Now for the last ingredient..." He murmured to himself as he pulled a small vial full of the blood of an infant...Abrien was not proud that he needed this ingredient but it is the most powerful rejuvenation source known to vampires. All of the components were in order and the potion would need to ferment until St. Andrew's Eve.

"I'll check back with that later..." He said as he left the Labratory

After many hours of hard work he came up with a little progress but not much he then packed up all his stuff and replaced everything that he used after cleaning it. He then left the labratory heading for the training grounds.

Cyrus arose from the shadows of the lab's bookshelf "....Now......for some supplies...." He walked in the lab to the cabinet that contained the potions for healing alliments. From what he saw left it wasn't going to be a lot against a large force.....but it would have to do. He put them in his shadow for a means to keep them safe from breaking. Shadow magic was definatly something he could rely on for support after fights or even during a brawl.

After getting his healing potions he went to the arrows that were made for his sister Neciel. They weren't like his metal coated ones, yet they were lighter and allowed more distance. Plus they had posioned tips on them.....so his opponents would be feeling the pain eventually when they sunk in.

Once he was done with the arrows he went to the table and got a mixing bowl with acid. He was using a crystal he found in the mountains to mix on these arrows with it's poison's. He put only a few dabs of crystal juice on some arrows to test out. The rest that was melted with this acid was placed into three vials that went into his shadow like the potions so they wouldn't break. Once it was all together he placed a red stone near a bunson burner. It was so small it would be hard to catch with the naked eye unless they were close enough. With all this done, Cyrus left the lab and went to the training grounds to prepare for the big fight for the castle of the Dawn Stridders "......Sister....you owe me big......"

Lor was happy.

She had found a nice room with lots of books in it, and she definitely liked books. She knew that humans could learn things from these pages, could suck the knowledge right up somehow. Well, other races could do it too, of course. Anyone could, she supposed, even an imitation human like herself. But for some reason she was always more interested in humans. They had the most complex emotions, it seemed, and the capacity for both the things called "good" and "evil" in very equal amounts.

She still didn't quite understand what made someone good or evil. She had thought that she had figured it out the other day. Maybe it was killing that made people evil, she had thought. But then she realized that the people who said they were good killed just as much as the evil ones. So now she was back to square one.

She looked around the room with something like awe - it was fascinating, after all. Plants hung from the walls, and various tools were scattered over work places in mindless patterns that reminded her of the fireflies at home. She imagined them moving, zooming between each other in their little games of tag. But most importantly, this room had books.

She pulled one off the shelves at random, sitting down right on the floor and flipping through the pages. Books, books, books...she could feel herself getting smarter. She cocked her head to the side, squinting hard at the patterns printed before her. Letters, they were called.

"These are letters."

She spoke the words aloud, tasting them on her tongue and listening joyfully as the sound moved from her vocal cords out through her mouth. She loved the humming, buzzing feeling that caressed her throat as she spoke. These letters would teach her things. She held the book out at arm's length from her face. Now if only she could figure out if she was holding the book upside down or not...oh, what did it matter? She was still learning. This book was teaching her that people sometimes liked to eat while reading - she was fairly certain that that was a soup stain. Turning a page a bit too fast, she winced at the ripping noise she created. She was also learning that books were fragile things and should be handled with care, like butterflies or babies. Strange, though: butterflies and babies weren't smart, but books were. This required some analysis. Why were such different things all so fragile?

She put on a thinking face, frowning slightly at the old tome.

Maybe...maybe it was because everything was fragile, in one way or another. Yes, that sounded about right. Everything had a weakness, no matter how smart or strong it was. It just had to protect it as best as it could. Her weakness was probably that there was so much she still didn't know that everyone else took for granted. She didn't understand attachments, and she didn't understand beauty, except for what she saw through other people's eyes. Oh, and she wasn't a very good fighter yet, comparatively. That was probably important.

So things, and people, all had weaknesses. She had learned her tidbit for the day. Good.
