So I saw this amazing skirt... donned by Mary-Kate Olsen...
High Waisted... Poofy... Adorable.
I thought, hey, I want to make that. It would be cool if I made it look really hippie and stuff...
So I set off to Joann Fabrics and bought some white fabric... they only had Rodeo cotton, but I thought I could get by even though it was a bit stiffer than I wanted... I went and picked out some fabric paint markers...
Go back to my dorm room and alas, I discover my sewing machine is broken... What???
My $400+ sewing machine is broken??
Why isn't the fabric feeding...
Go online... check possibilites... Okay... clean off the foot... Check... Check the bobbin... Wtheck? A piece is broken??
Okay... No problem there's a singer sewing machine repair place nearby... Take it there...
The next weekend comes along...
Man... I want to sew... No sewing machine... eh... I'll wait... no... I'll sew it by hand.. yes.
Go to Target to get some sewing needles... What they have a $20 sewing machine??
What is this?
A piece of plastic crap...
Hmmm... I always say I'm a pretty decent sewer... so I wonder if I can sew on a $20 piece of crap machine without a reverse... I buy it., thinking Project Runway should use this idea some season... give all the contestant $20 sewing machines and see if they can survive... hahaha...

This pic says it all... What kind of junky equipment was I working with here?? I literally was sitting on the ground doing this... it was sad.

Yes, my shoe is actually longer than the machine... Sad, but true...

So I somehow manage to sew this skirt... Not perfect, I always think I'm larger than I am... so it's about two inches too big..

Now I have this white high waisted skirt... Time to get it pop arty...
Fabric markers!
What design?

The outline and a bit of coloring...

Okay now that I have that... I can have her blowing stuff... I saw a pic like that once... I'll use that as inspiration...

I'm still not 100% finished but alas, here it is:

Not 100% complete, but it's getting there...

Cute design! Looks like you made that machine work just fine. :3 I can't imagine you'd want to do a big project with that thing, but in a pinch it seems to have done the job!

I've had that problem happen to me. I once had to use one of those hand-held sewing machines that singer makes. It was Horrible! My hand crapped up so bady.

The design is very happy-go-lucky I think. I like it!
