A sandstorm rages, and the two competitors are in the middle of it all. It's burning hot, but the sun is nearly blocked out by the sandstorm raging. Both women are equipped with local clothing to keep the dust out of their noses, and mouths. Goggles have also been provided.

Mori adjusted her new googles with annoyance. True, they kept the sand out of her eyes, but they also cut down her visibility slightly. Pulling the cloth over her nose and mouth more tightly, she scanned the landscape, or what could be seen. Even in a sandstorm, her skills lay in ranged attacks, not close combat. It took her a few minutes, but she finally found an outcrop of rock that stretched up into the sky. As quick as she could, she skid over the sand to the brief shelter. The outcrop blocked the worst of the winds, and there was a shelf that was only a couple of feet off the ground that she could crouch on rather than the twisting and unstable sand. Climbing up and removing her bow from her back, she drew a single bolt and kept a sharp lookout for her opponent as she nocked it on the linen string of her bow. Even in this kind of storm, as long as she corrected for the wind she should still be able to fire... She hoped. In all honesty, she had never experienced gales this powerful before, so she would be guessing for her first couple of shots.

Gabrielle's eyes were screening the environment. Analyzing every bit of information which the surrounding elements could provide her with: sand and wind. She smirked, wind was a good thing, she would not waste energy into creating it but would be able to focus on disrupting it and changing its patterns. For the time being she let the wind birching her clothes. It would have been pointless to use energy to escape the wind. She was embracing it, gathering energy from the tormented flows.
The storm and thickness of the air brought even more happiness to the woman. She could felt the potential that her lightening abilities could have in this setting. But she repulsed into using this energy, perfectly aware that it would probably accelerate her shifting. Knowing that the energy was there, latent, was bringing hope.
One concern popped to her mind. The heat. Or rather the lack of water. Water was there. Water was always there, where life was. But here it was mostly in gaseous form. She liked particularly this element, but it seemed that today was not the day of Water. However, to increase her level of comfort, she concentrated and decided to gather a reserve of water, underground. That might come handy... Stopping her steps, Gabrielle put her right knee in the sand, raising her right hand with Aqual in it, she abruptly jabbed the blade in the sand.
((sorry for the delay I hadn't noticed the arena thread...))

Squinting through the sand, it was the half-demon's telepathic abilities that told her someone else was out there. It took her a little while, but she finally was able to make out the form of the other woman knelt down in the sand. Raising her bow, she raised it higher and slightly to the right to adjust for the wind, knowing she would have to apply more force to combat the onslaught of the gusts. It was why she kept her draw about ten pounds or so less then what she could actually pull. Releasing the arrow, she had another nocked and the kisser touching her lips as quickly as possible, releasing the new arrow immediately after the second. Rather than risk a third to the churning storm, she knelt back down, waiting to see if her attacks hit their target.

Gabrielle was ready to stand up when a new noise added itself in the wind, something like a whistling. Looking up she saw an arrow arriving in her direction, more or less, the wind seemed like a playful cat, poking the wooden stick here and there. The arrow seemed off balance and Gabrielle did not need to move to avoid it. However the woman was impressed by how close the arrow reached the sand. Wind or not, my adversary is a gifted bowman... she thought and he has very good... her thought was stopped as heard a second whistling striking her. In a reflex, she pushed on her right foot, rolling her left side, her right hand grabbing her katana. The arrow pierced the fabric next to her right calf. The woman fulminated. So much for enjoying the environment...
This time Gabrielle did not lose time watching the prettiness or accuracy of the arrow and stood up all at once, holding Aqual in front of her face, concentrating on any new noise. As nothing came, Gabrielle put Aqual back to her belt and grabbed Eosy from her back. Apparently the sandstorm did not seem to disturb her opponent into seeing where she was, thus her coming movement would not provide him with any advantage but would bring them to equal level. Anchoring her legs in the sand facing the direction from where the arrows were coming, Gabrielle's arms leaving from behind her head dropped vertically all at once, the blade hitting the sand. The air wave created by the blade opened a one second corridor allowing the woman to see an amount of rocks on which a dark mass was kneeing. Here you are... smirked Gabrielle. The sandstorm immediately swept inside the corridor and the vision disappeared.
The woman was disturbed by the fact that her opponent had so easily identified her position. A moving target is more difficult to see... she thought. Trying to understand which technique her adversary had used, she started running, following a circle with her adversary being the center point. If he is using a bow, I shall come closer... suddenly interrupting the pattern of her run, she converged towards her opponent, using Eosy in front of her to create disturbances. Her goal was both to break the balance of her opponent and potentially arm him in his fall and to prevent from another arrow attack by shifting the wind coming ahead of her.

"Bugger..." Mori muttered, "I had to get an opponent with wind capabilities..." Reaching down, she nudged her dagger in its sheath, making it easier to grab should this become close range. By balancing with one knee on the rock beneath her and her other foot flat on the ground with the knee bent, she was able to withstand the worst of the gusts being sent her way. However, she was forced to duck her head a couple of times from the amount of sand stirred up. All the while, she was trying to figure out how to shoot in this mess, Perhaps...? Yes, it would do. Raising her bow, she searched telepathically again for her opponent, using it to identify how they were moving and in what direction. Once sure, she released two more arrows, this time wrapping her telekinetic powers around them to guide them through the wind. However, the half-demon wasn't staying put. The other person was heading her way, and it wasn't worth the risk.
Gingerly climbing down from the rock shelf, she hurried across the sand in the same direction her opponent was walking, then veered to the right. She hoped to find another rock, or at least a dune, to hide behind and continue to shoot from a far. It was her only advantage in this fight; using her powers more than necessary was too risky, and her dagger work left much to be desired, according to her old teacher. Mori was lucky; there was a sand dune, it easily allowing her to see what was coming her way. She grit her teeth and blew out a puff of air in annoyance, then hurriedly climbed the large pile of sand. Once on the top, she slid down the back side slightly, hunkering down to be hidden from view. The Dawn Strider waited, wanting to see her opponent's reaction to her last attack before firing again.

Gabrielle's progression was slow due to the ample movements she had to make to prevent an attack. Her foot touched the first rock when the whistling noise came again straight in her direction. Looking up Gabrielle saw the arrow diving straight at her. The wind is not affecting it... Eosy's was in her left hand and with a cracking noise it broke the arrow into two pieces. Gabrielle did not make the same mistake twice and indeed a second arrow appeared, her guard was down, but her right hand quickly grabbed Aqual at her belt and sliding upwards it set about the second around. Quickly Gabrielle closed her guard, Aqual protecting her heart and Eosy protecting her face. As she waited, she noticed a running shadow passing her on the left.
Torn between running after the shadow and waiting another couple of seconds to insure that no other arrow were to come, she waited. Once insured that no threat was coming from above, the woman walked into her opponent's direction. She was about to leave the zone of rocks and walk in the sand again when she noticed some mosses. Her smile widened. "Stay gently there..." she whispered to the plants. Knowing that in that wind she had lost her adversary again, Gabrielle had to locate her again. Putting Aqual back in her sheath at her belt, Eosy passed back in her right hand. Spinning on herself, her weapon in the prolongation of her arm, she 'became' the wind. She was brushing the earth, caressing her, feeling its up and down, feeling...a bump which was not a rock. She knew for sure as when she had opened the corridor earlier she had noticed that nowhere else than where her opponent formerly stood was rock.
She reopened her eyes and ran to the side of the dune. She stayed at distance and with a circular movement of Eosy created what seemed like an horizontal mini-typhoon which she cast vertically. Once it reached the floor it expended, until it encircled both opponents, clear the sky between them, going on rolling around them. The woman knew that she would less be able to use the wind in that setting but she was tired of their hide and sick game.
For the first time, Gabrielle was able to see her opponent, who was...a woman. That was all she could see due to all the clothes wrapped around the woman. She smiled.
"Greetings to you My Lady. I did not know that my opponent was one of my kind." she said with a smirk. "I am Gabrielle Camille, at your service." she introduced herself with a bow.

Oh, hell... Mori grabbed an arrow out of her quiver and loaded it on her bow as fast as she could, drawing it back and aiming down the side of the dune, now without the disadvantage of the unpredictable winds. "Mori Dae," she said shortly. The gods hate me... she thought with a strong feeling of dread. The distance between the two of them was just barely within her range. If worse came to worse, she could slide down the dune and face the storm once more, hopefully finding another hiding space to start shooting from afar again. Was it the technically honorable way to fight? No, and Mori admitted it easily enough. However, honorable fights usually equalled dead demons, and with half of her blood being of that line, she was taking no chances. Rather than risk giving her opponent to attack, she released three bolts one right after the other, trying to throw the other woman off to see if she could make her retreat, even if just by a few steps. She knew that she needed to make her hits count while the winds were gone; she had already used seven of her twenty odd arrows.

Slowly, too slowly, looking up from her bow, Gabrielle heard the girl pronounced her name as she realized that three of the arrows were rending the air in her direction. Eosy still in her right hand, the human managed to cut the first arrow in half. However the second arrow was close, far too close to the first one and it slided open Gabrielle's earlobe. A growl of pain came out of the woman. She had just the time to throw herself on the floor to avoid the last one. She did not stay more than a second on the floor, rolling on her side, she stood up with Eosy in her right hand and Aqual in her left hand. A drop of her blood fell, the smell gained her nostril quickly. However this excited her more than it disturbed her. "Nice shots..." she commented. She stepped forward, her katanas in defense position, she was ready...to attack. I have my own type of arrows...

Drawing another arrow, Mori thought through what she was about to do. It was either really stupid or brilliant... Time would tell if she was thinking clearly or not. I always was better at shooting items in the air than on the ground... she thought grimly, releasing the string with its soft sigh. As her opponent was busy with the arrow, she sent her telekinesis through the sand, making it move like a giant wave. Hopefully, it would knock the other girl off her feet, sending her airborn, flat on the ground, or under the sand. One of the options gave her a solid chance to shoot; the other two were prime chances to run for where her opponent had previous been to gather the four arrows lost in the storm, then find a new hiding spot to wait the other woman out. The odd stillness of the center of this whirlwind was making Mori edgy, her entire being preferring the chaos of the sandstorm then this unnatural calm. Her gem was glowing slightly, showing that edgyness, her marks not far from erupting into a garnet glow with her powers prepared to cause trouble. Mori had a slippery hold on them for now, but her nerves wouldn't let that continue for much longer.

Gabrielle noticed the wave forming and pouncing on her. She knew that she would not be able to stop it. She could stop the turmoil surrounding them and block the wave, but then they would start back at the beginning and Mori would disappear in the storm. Deciding to take the hit, she had the time for an attack before the wave hit her.
She rose both words at opposite forty-five degres from the ground. Eosy in her right hand, the Wind katana and Aqual in her left hand, the Water katana took a strange glow as Gabrielle concentrated her energy. The falling blood drop from her earlobe stopped in mid air, made ninety-nine percent out of water and a small coil of air detached itself from the typhoon. Gabrielle's arms cut the air in a sharp move crossing at her hips level. Simultaneously, the coil and the water became two blasts as sharp as blades, heading at high speed towards Mori. The attack was frontal, however the two elemental arrows were arriving from two different angles, attacking from right and left at the same time. The wind arrow coming from Mori's left, was aiming the heart, while the water arrow, issued from Gabrielle's left hand, was aiming the face.
Before Gabrielle saw the impact of her attack, the wave hit her grabbing her legs and raising her ten feet above the air. Her anchored feet enabled her to maintain a somehow standing posture and her strong hold on her katanas provided her with a somewhat balance position, however she feared the fall.

Feeling her breath leave her in a woosh, Mori hit the ground, rolling over from her stomach to her back to see the two blasts of energy, too much like arrows for her liking, pass overhead where her heart and head had been. "Dear lord..." she breathed, her lungs protesting her sudden drop to the sandy surface, though she didn't take the time to gawk any longer then she had to. Raising her gaze upward, she hopped up to where she was crouching rather than laying flat on the ground. She began firing arrows, leveling them so they were actually passing just ahead of where the other woman currently was each time she released her string. Mori was hoping to cause damage, though not actual death. After five arrows, she scurried down the dune, though her body protested the quick movements. The whole drop and duck routine had earned her a bruise or two.
She was forced to pause at the mini-typhoon her opponent had created. Think, Mori, think... Sand is solid, right? Then you can move it... Or hold it still! Taking a deep breath to steady her panicked thoughts, she held out her hand, focusing on the wall of the vortex in front of her. It was so fast... She had never tried to slow something down before! The panic she had worked herself into was the extra push her powers needed to flip out. Her marks flickered into their garnet state, and her powers thrashed violently against the walls of sand. They literally forced it outwards, creating a temporary hole that Mori wasn't about to waste. She dashed forward, ducking her head from the swirling sand as the hole vanished. The half-demon was back in the sand storm, thankfully. She paused only long enough to gather her control, then set off back the way she had come.
Passing her outcrop of rock from before, she slowled down and kept her eyes on the ground, though telepathically she tried to be aware of her surroundings. She need to rearm, and there should be... Ah, there were her arrows. Both were split in half, and completely unusable. Mori slid another arrow out of her quiver just in case she ran into her opponent again, then tried to follow the other person's path to this point. Her luck was better this time, once she found the spot; both arrows were still usable. The teenage girl slid the two into her quiver, then retook her string between her forefinger and middle finger, anchoring it with her thumb. Her eyes scanned for a new place to take refuge, not wanting to stay out in the open. Rather then finding a new place, she back tracked to the rock. It had served her well, and she had a different plan in mind. Strapping the bow to her back, she found hand and foot holds and made her way up the back of the rock face. About six feet above her previous spot was a smaller, narrower shelf. Anchoring herself was trickier, but managable. Once safely in place, she turned her sights back to where she had last seen her opponent, preparing herself for some very bad retaliation.

Gabrielle was half flying in the air. The sand wave was paralyzing her head. Her fear beard out and soon the whistling came to her hear. Both swords were ready. A swing coming from behind her head got the first arrow just behind its head, while an horizontal movement from her left blade cut the feathers of the second. That was clo... The thought froze in her her mind as the third arrow passed through the fabric of her clothes, snicking her left arm slightly behind shoulder. "Owww..." gasped the woman. Her right arm was reading for the next arrow when from the corner of her eyes she noticed that her opponent was 'escaping'. So much for dignity...
Then...there is no need for the winds not to blow... and releasing the energy which created the typhoon the sandstorm entered the artificially created peaceful zone, sweeping away both reminding arrows in a blast. Her control of the winds provided Gabrielle with a somehow decent landing. Eosy and Aqual back in their sheaths, she looked at the sand and noticed the arrows, full and in bits and pieces. Two more were ahead...she is definitely skillful... she admitted, grabbing the two untouched arrows and breaking them apart on her knee with a roar. She escaped again...
Trying to clear her mind from the anger, she concentrated and analyzed. She is constantly running away, I need to come in close range...Where can she hide...? There was only one answer: the rocks. Her opponent would not risk in open field again. Gabrielle had to keep moving, she now knew that the power of her opponent where kinesthetics. She can move and feel things... She decided to reuse the technique from earlier and grabbing Eosy, she slowly brushed the landscape in front of her, in the rock area trying to spear energy, in hope to 'see' her enemy. She brushed back and forth. Ready to admit that she might have been wrong, she felt her, against the rocks.
Putting Eosy aside, she grabbed Aqual with her right hand, she decided to use some part of the water that she had gathered. She ran into the rocks's directions and noticed the little plants again. How about growing and becoming alive...? she asked them with a smirk. Putting one foot on each side of the plant, she slowly let the blade touch the plants. They started moving, growing, wreathing like snakes. Raising her blade, Gabrielle pushed it down, cutting the plants, creating a soft glow around them. Immediately the plants crawled, becoming like vines, they quickly reached the rock where the opponent was. Arriving from all sides, the curly roots emerged between the rocks, they wrapped themselves around the rock, and hopefully around the girl. Gabrielle stayed a couple of seconds with her blade in the plant, hoping to give the roots more strengths. Retrieving her blade she rushed into her opponent's direction, Aqual in her hand and ready to grab Eosy.

"What is she doing?" Mori muttered, still unable to see her opponent. It was so odd... And what was that noise? Looking down at her feet to make sure she wasn't in deep trouble and the stone was crumbling, she was stunned to see plant roots viciously climbing the sides of her perch. Plants... She can also control plants? This is not going to end with me winning... the half-demon thought, though she didn't give up. Instead, she returned her arrow and bow to her back, pulling her dagger out of its sheath for the first time in too long. As the roots tried to wrap around her, she took the time to cut them off, rather than risk them snaring her like a caught rabbit. It worked for the time being, though it also left her in a risk place when her opponent did arrive-. Oh no. She hadn't been keeping her eyes out! Whipping her head around and sensing telepathically, she found her opponent well within her range and approaching dangerously fast. Mori returned her dagger to its sheath and etrieved her bow and an arrow, then used the same technique before with a twist. As she released her three arrows in succession of each other, she wrapped her telekinetic powers around them to guide them, her telepathy helping her aim. However, unless her oppponent destoryed the arrows, she was planning on making them curve right back around, one heading straight back towards her opponent and the other two back to her. It was a plan that would give the powers itching in the back of her head something to do, and it would save her arrows out of her rapidly depleting supply.

Gabrielle was close to her opponent when the now familiar whistling came ahead, without slowing down, she armed her defense and easily slided the arrow. She sighed Always the same technique...this is starting being annoying... Still racing her sword got ready for the second arrow, which did not come...she realized that the whistling was close, far too close and coming from...behind. She spun in a reflex, her blade hitting the second arrow just in time.
However before she realized it, the pain in her left shoulder brought conscious to her. There was a third one. A long scream came from the woman as the metal pierced her skin and flesh. Holding her sword with her left hand, she grabbed the arrow and pulling it out of her arm. She was bleeding and any movement of her arm or hand or finger was causing deep pain. However she could still use her arm. She cast the arrow on the floor and crushed it with her foot.
Putting Aqual at her belt she grabbed Eosy, her wind katana. The arrow had slowed her down, but she knew that the roots had slowed her opponent too. She rushed again and in three strides she was facing the woman again. She hold Eosy horizontally pointing at her opponent. They were in sword distance of each other. So close, the sandstorm was not enough to prevent them from seeing each other. "This time you cannot run away..." said Gabrielle. Her opponent was taken between herself and the rock. Climbing upward or sideways would mean turning her back to Gabrielle and that would be suicidal. This time they had to face each other. 'You owe me dry cleaner for my clothes..." she smirked. Her left hand was full of her own blood.
