I really enjoy Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro. I think my favorite is Spirited Away with Kiki's Delivery Service being a close second. I like the characters evolve in these movies and become more independent. It's funny how, in a way, Chihiro becomes more wise than her parents.

Howl's Moving Castle didn't really do it for me. The plot was convoluted and there wasn't really a good explanation as to what's going on with the spell Sofie is under. I've heard it's explained in the book, but I'm talking about the movie here.
I guess I also didn't like Castle in the Sky either. It seemed to drag on and the characters didn't really appeal to me. They all seemed really flat in development.

oh!!! I really love his films. My favorite one is Princess Mononoke.
I really like how in the beginning of the movie something exiting is already happening.

I finally watched all of Mononoke (long story as to why I haven't watched it all...) and I still think Spirited Away is my favorite. I may even go so far as to say that Howl's Moving Castle was better than Mononoke as well.

I say this as an ecologist working for a conservation NGO who's giving a panel on ecological disasters in anime. Mononoke was quite good, and I like what it was trying to do, but I had a few concerns.

And what are some of those concerns? 3nodding

Most of them are really good. Another anime director to check out is Satoshi Kon, who directed Paprika, Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, and Tokyo Godfathers.

I think Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky were my favorites. Although I love all of his movies. I've seen almost all of them. xd The first one I saw though was when I was like 4 it was My Neighbor Totoro, although at the time I didn't know it was an anime. O.o Still like it, but I prefer some of the others before it. ^_^ I would have to say though out of all the one's I've seen Porco Rosso is the weirdest. o.o

I've heard people compare Porco Rosso to Disney's Tale Spin, and it's because of that that PR is one of my favorite Miyazaki movies. Or perhaps I should say Tale Spin is one of my favorite TV shows because it's so much like PR.

I've also noticed a lot of similarities between Disney's Atlantis and Princess Mononoke. Then, of course, there's always the BIG debate over whether Disney's Lion King is a direct rip-off of Tezuka's Kimba the White Lion.

I really liked Princess Mononoke I remember I would watch it whenever it came on the movie channels( now I own the movie DVD), Laputa: Castle in the Sky was kinda of a letdown, and Porco Rosso was pretty good( although I can't wait to hear the English dub instead of the sub). More of Miyazaki's films I really enjoyed( and have on DVD too) is Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, and Howl's Moving Castle. I have to admit Calcifer is hilarious where he goes "I don't COOK, I'm a scary and powerful fire demon. Blah blah blah blaaaaaah" and "Here's another curse may all your bacon burn" rofl . The one thing that you can count in all the Miyazaki movies is the beautiful music, come one everybody I'm obviously right, aren't I? I particularly love the musical score in Spirited Away that was definitely the best. The Miyazaki movies I've seen is Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, The Cat Returns, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and part of My Neighbor Totoro.

Totoro will always be my fave. *huggles Totoro plush* It introduced my to anime. Princess Monoke is a very close second though.
