In this topic I am going to describe a number of different ways to go about an rpg multiplayer game. I will also list the pros and cons of each one and since I've tried every one of them I have first hand experience.

Elite or Hardcore Gaming- This style of gaming requires a regular commitment to the game itself. To properly use this playing style you need to regularly set goals for yourself and fulfill them. It also requires that you spend a moderate to high amount of time to familiarize yourself with the game. But after you study the game learning the pros and cons of the character you have chosen. Then it requires less time to achieve the same result as when you didn't know what you were doing.

Pros- Your character will quickly rise in power as will your knowledge of the game itself. Since you are regularly playing the game all the knowledge you know will stay fresh in your mind. And you will accomplish more in the same amount of time as a regular. You will establish strong friendships with some of the other games which you can regularly keep in touch with to keep the game from growing stale.

Cons- The down side to this type of gaming. Is that the game itself will become rather irritating. There will be an increasing number of people that will resent your accomplishments. And since it is an internet community those same friends that make the game interesting. Will be much more quick to cut communications off entirely than in real life. The ones you regularly team up with are in fact going through the exact same strain as you are. And your less than active friends will occasionally beg for goods. This can sometimes get sticky if you don't know how to handle the situation.

Regular Gaming- This style of gaming makes up the bulk of an Rpg community. A regular style of play is rather flexible allowing for more freedom. You can login, chat, join guilds maybe even try out some pking if you are into that sort of thing. A regular gamer will generally play the game without any goal to accomplish. You can just enjoy the game as it was meant to be enjoyed this way.

Pros- You will be much less likely to burn yourself out this way. Casual chat with friends. And the occasional gift from a generous passerby are always a plus. All of the features of the game are available to you and you can enjoy them without any hindrance to your goals.

Cons- You will generally have average equipment unless someone was generous enough to help you out. It will also be near impossible to join any of the elite guilds of the game.

Player Killer- This style of gaming requires a large understanding of the game itself. It's often a path your hardcore gamer will take at one point or another. But unlike a Hardcore gamer. There will be a lower sense of morality on the part of the player. I personally only do this from time to time. And I refuse to engage in the lawless mindset that these users take.

Pros- Once you learn how to properly Player Kill. You will occasionally gain items that are worth quite alot. The constant player vs. player battling will also give you a slight edge in making your character to fight monsters.

Cons- While there is the occasional high item you will gain from this. You are better off just farming for the gold in the long run. The other players will not be the only ones that will be loosing gold keep in mind. There will occasionally be a strong pk party that you will encounter.

Player vs. Player- This type of playing involves combat between two players. As will Player Killing you will need to have a good understanding of the game before you can do this effectively. But unlike Player Killing the battle has to be agreed upon by both parties before it can begin.

Pros- You will gain the same edge from fighting players this way as you will Player Killing. There will also be a slight amount of respect gained in some situations inside of the anger that comes from people you track down and kill.

Cons- There will be no gold gained from doing this just knowledge but at the same time you will not loose gold upon defeat. The problem is you will occasionally run into a little twit that will break the rules set for the match. Never put any items on the line when you are fighting another player. Some will try to trick you into doing this but it is a mistake 9/10 times to do so.
