If you haven't heard of the Metal Gear Solid series, you have definetly lived underneath a rock the last decade.

With MGS4 coming out tomorrow (in Europe that is) on the PS3, I felt like playing one of these games on my PSP today.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is a prequel to the story of Solid Snake and a sequel to the story of Naked Snake (MGS3).

The game involves going through a series of sneaking missions (missions where you must not be spotted by enemies), recruiting soldiers and collecting infantry while trying to save the world (again) from nuclear holocaust with the #1 macho-soldier, again voiced by David Hayter.
If you played other Metal Gear Solid or stealth-action games like Splinter Cell, then you should be quite alright with the gameplay and the controls. If you are new to the series however, I suggest playing through the game on the Easy difficulty mode first to get a hang of the sneaking.
A minor problem is that the camera isn't always in the right position to see your surroundings clearly, tapping the left shoulder button occassionally fixes this problem though.
Final Words:
As you can see on the screenshots, the grapics are alright aswell as they set the mood for the game well. It took me a grand total of 12 hours to play through this game the first time on Normal difficulty, which is pretty long for a non-RPG PSP game! The controls are fine but occassionally the camera can be annoying, this is the only flaw in the game I could find though.
If you are a fan of Metal Gear Solid, don't hesitate to buy this game. If you are still in doubts then atleast I hope this review was able to convince you.

Note:
This game has online functionality!
- If you like this game, buy Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops aswell. It's an add-on (doesn't contain a storyline, though) that allows you too unlock characters as Old Snake (MGS4) and Raiden (MGS2).
Powerplay Rating: 8.0
