___==[[ ]] [[ ]]==___I would like to thank HereticX for coming up with the brilliant idea of making this thread! Basically, the idea is that, here, in this thread, you may post ideas for RPs that you would like to see made. So, any idea that you come up with just might interest someone else in the guild, leading to the creation of your desired RP. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, you are welcome to post ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE! This means that ANY IDEA is acceptable. Whether it is a futuristic RP, a fantasy RP, or even a romance RP, it's all good! LET THE BRAINSTORMING COMMENCE!___==[[ ]] [[ ]]==___

Here's an outline type-thing I've come up with... It needs tweaking, and also an actual plot... But here goes (yeah, it's story format... sorry.):
Magic.
The world had long ago decided that the word did not fit. Magic implied faeries and happy endings and dreams come true. When one said the word, it did not bring to mind orphaned children, murders, a nightmarish struggle to keep oneself alive... There was no pixie dust here, but a world trapped in a downward spiral.
It had begun years ago; they had long since lost count of how many. It was not entirely clear how it all started, either. Many said that it began with the desparate need for a new energy to run the increasingly complex and powerful machines, a clean, efficient fuel.
After countless failures, a single laboratory discovered a solution to their problem, albeit a strange one. A powerful energy source, it was. And, like humans are prone to do, they sought to control it.
They succeeded with flying colors, and the world rejoiced. The source? The human being. The energy and power contained within us all, within our souls. Little to nothing was known about how they managed it, but all that mattered to them was that if they wore strange patches, their lives would run flawlessly. They christened their discovery "Magic".
However, some became discontented. Why could they not harness this? After all, it was inside of them, was it not? They wished for control. And, of course, their wish was granted.
Officials had not counted upon a "doorway". With the removal of the patch, the "rebels" gained the peculiar ability to draw upon their own energy, convert it to raw power that could be bent to their will.
And so began the assassinations, the murders, the chaos... The world seemed plunged into anarchy, deteriorating from the inside out as these "mages" ran rampant.
The single authority that yet attempted to retain order was a small group of mage "police". Magic-users all, it was they who yet recalled the meaning of hope, and what it was like to live without constant fear.
Our story begins in what was once a thriving society, full of life... However, the Magic has taken its toll, and it crumbles. It greatly resembles the inside of a clock, as many of its structures are at least half-mechanical, though rusted.
Death is more than familiar to the people of this city. They have seen it, they know it well. They are numb to it. Grief has been surpressed, but one can only take so much...
It is here the small band of police make their stand in a valiant attempt to rid their world of this horror, the stuff of faerie-tales. Their "police-station" is but a dilapidated old house on the far side of town. They attempt to control mage activity, though it often seems they are fighting a losing battle.
Eh? What do y' think?

Divine Goddess: Cool! I did something constructive. But now I have to write all those summaries again crying . Oh well, at least I'll get more gold for them biggrin .
Tari: Sounds cool. Umm...it sounds like it could be really fun, but I'm a little drained right now, so I can't really think too well sad . The 'police' are an independent group? Vigilantes? The Shinsen Gumi xd ? So, the 'police' take off the patch, and then use their powers to (try to) stop the rouge 'mages'? Urgh...there was something else I wanted to say, but I can't figure it out. It's been a long day.

Alright...let me see if I can put this back together...or better yet, make it better than before... Skyrealms of JoruneI just happen to like the setting. I first encountered it...geez, probably a decade ago (I feel so old crying ), in the SSI computer game Alien Logic. They've actually published it, but the Third (and most recent) edition was supposed to have a lot of problems, like entire sections of the book missing. They've made a couple of conversions to other systems (including GURPS and D20-rather, J20). But I thought it would be cool to make a freeform forum RP in that setting, so here's the intro. Of course, it could just be nostalgia... sweatdrop The offical website is www.jorune.orgIts set in the far future, on an alien world called Jorune. Jorune has an energy field, called Isho, all around it. Among other things, it acts like magic, and several of the native species 'see' with it. The native race are the Shanthas. They had a flourishing civilization on Jorune (then the humans came along, of course xd ). Strong culture and everything, but no spaceflight. In addition to the Shanthas, there are several other sentient races present on Jorune; however, none of them are native. They were brought along as servant races in an invasion force more than a millenium before humans arrived. When the invasion was driven off, the servant races got left behind. Anyway, humanity arrives on Jorune, and with the permission of the Shanthas, created a colony. After about a decade, there was a war on Earth, and contact with the colony is lost. The humans start expanding into Shanthic territory, including Shanthic holy sites. The Shanthas are miffed, to say the least. Eventually, an all out war starts, and the Shanthas, with their Isho magic, are winning. So, a scientist named Karl Bomoveris released a genetically engineered plauge into the atmosphere, killing about 99% of the Shanthas. Following that are about 3000 years of more or less dark ages. About 3500 years after the arrival of the humans, when civilization is starting to come back to Jorune, is when the game starts. Hmm...soon after the Human-Shantha war, a scientist named Iscin starts genetically engineering (sentient) creatures to survive on Jorune. He creates several new species, collectively known as the Iscin races. Some of the major ones are Crugar and Cryga (both are cheetah/cougar human hybrids; Crugar tend to be nastier/have worse tempers), Woffen (human-wolf hybrids), and Bronth (bear-human hybrids); there are others, but those are the major ones. Humanity has mutated somewhat during the years, including one race (the muadra) that is very good at manipulating Isho. Humans do have a pretty big advantage, though; pure-strain humans have the genes to unlock caches of ancient 'Earth-tec'. I think that by now, most of the races can manipulate Isho to a greater or lesser degree; still not a good idea to go up against a Shantha :XP:. I think that's about it. Anything sound interesting, or am I killing you all with boredom redface ?

And here's the other one:
Shadowrun
For those of you torn between Cyberpunk and Fantasy, fret no more; Shadowrun is here. It's Cyberpunk, with Magic. How much more cool can you get?
It's another RPG system where I happen to like the setting or 'fluff'. So, again, I thought, why not a freeform forum RP?
It's set about sixty years in the future. Sometime around 2011, magic started coming (back?) into the world. Along with it, some people started mutating. The new races (all of which can apparently interbreed, along with humans, though the offspring is of only one race, one of the parents) got names from fantasy: "Elves" "Dwarfs" "Orcs" "Trolls". And yes, there are dragons, many of whom are quite prominent individuals. In 2057, the great dragon Dunklezhan (formerly a popular talkshow host) was elected president (unfortuantely, he was assassinated soon after). The great dragon Lofwyr is the president and CEO of BMW corporation.
In the (Cyberpunk) future, megacorporations are major world powers, cybernetic technology and man-machine interfacing has advanced greatly. The internet in their era is the Matrix (not the movie stressed . Shadowrun came out in the 1989, as a matter of fact); people can use cyberjacks (the only way to fly; wussies and mages use neural electrode webs or *shudder* keyboards sweatdrop ) to plug in and cruise the Matrix.
The players are shadowrunners; they work like mercenaries. They're people who are outside or who have fallen in the cracks of 'the system' or 'mainstream society'. They're popular with the megacorporations to do dirty work, since, because they don't officially exist, they are deniable assets. Shadowrunners come in all shapes and sizes, with all different personalities, backgrounds, and motivations.
There are a couple of general archetypes of shadowrunners; Mages, Shamans, and Adepts: Mages are structured spellcasters, Shamans are more spiritualistic/naturalistic, and Adepts channel magic into themselves to enhance their abilities. Deckers and Riggers: Deckers are hackers, plugging into computer systems or into the Matrix, while riggers run vehicles and machines directly with their minds. Street Samurai: Combat specialists. They also tend to go crazy with the cyberware (general term for cybernetic equipment/enhancements). Robotic limbs, subdermal armor, brainlinked guns, enhanced reflexes... pirate
Oh, and they have the Yakuza. And the Triad, too. What else do you need biggrin ?
Well, that's about it for that one. Sound interesting?

HereticX: I have no idea. I s'pose there might be still a shred of government left that employs the police... Told y' it needed tweaking. I came up with it in Algebra class, how good could it possibly be when the teacher's rambling on about ratios in my ear? xp
Anyhoo, your plots are really interesting... The Jorune one reminds me of "cowboys and indians" futuristic-style. Very interesting indeed. I have roughly sixteen fragments of plots just randomly drifting about in my head... Gotta hate that.

Hec: I love your ideas. I would go for the second one in a heartbeat actualy XD
Tari: again I love it idea. Kinda reminds me of Final Fantasy 3/6.
Now...I have an rp universe that I ahve been making and tweaking going on...lets see...about 9 years now. My problem is finding a way to get it into a formate that could be use in the guild (it was originally made to LARP with but I want to cross it over). It is a unique world and it is intergalatic in size but I usually have it start on one main planet and let it grow from there.
I have a few problems with the formating...I have never really had any set plot for this (other then keeping the evil gods at bay), and there are tons of NPCs that I am just attached to enough that I really wouldn''t be comfortable anyone else playing (this is wherre my abundance of characters comes from folks. Chances are if I am in a differnet rp in this guild I am using a different version of some of these characters.) Also there are some very big differances in how certain races and beings are handeled. I tried making this rp in a different guild and everyone kinda...well they took it and tried to make it something its not.
The world is one of a delicate balance of both magic and technology. There are easily thousands of gods and goddesses (however most are not really brought into play...thankfully), and while each part of the world has its own goverment there is one world wide law enforcement and emergancy force. This world is also the ultimate melting pot of the universe you could say cause there is a little bit of every race and being imaginable there.
Really it could be considered a social rp but it could have battles too if something came up (like one of the evil gods desided to unleash swarms of the undead on the world...in which case the emergancy force would kick in) I think it would be best if the players would be part of the Crisis Center (emergancy force) because then they can balence out the social and battle aspects. Of course if someone whated to be a villain they would be more then welcome to as well.
does any of this make sense to anyone? Soemtimes I don''t explain things well.

Cool, that's one for Shadowrun straight off the bat and perhaps one for Jorune blaugh .
Final Fantasy VI? Huh, I kind of see what you mean. Oh, and; Uwhee-hee-hee... twisted
Hmm...let me see if I understand your setting.
-There is a universe, with both magic and technology. In this universe, there are many gods. -The RP starts on/revolves around one world, the hub of the universe, the melting pot, whatever. -Based on this world is the very loose central government (I'm not sure if it's for the world, or for the universe). This government maintains a force to maintain order/deal with trouble in the [universe/world?].
-The players are members of this force.
That sound right?
I don't think I really know enough about this setting to say anything. Sorry.

Eh, it was nothing. But, I'm glad your RP is ready.
I'm not sure when I'll start Shadowrun on this forum. I've got two people interested, so far. Character creation is pretty long and drawn out, it seems.
Thing is, I'm not sure whether to run it rules-oriented, or freeform. The diceroller certainly makes it easier to run it rules-oriented. And the character creation system does help ensure some balance. But freeform is, well, freeform, and the people here seem to prefer that.
As for Jorune...well, I'm still working on it I guess.

Well it's very doubtable that this would get much, if any, activity here considering most RPs seem to be based more on ancient cultures, but I may as well pitch this idea for an RP I have yet to be able to try with people who didn't just leave it after a day.
It's actually an AvP RP (Gee, who would have guessed coming from me? rolleyes ) taking place on a space station in orb it of the world LV-426. The station holds two artificial xenomorph hives that have various entrance gates that all have multiple rooms blocked off from each other be decontamination-style doors even the xenomorphs haven't been able to break through thus far. The hives are also blocked off from each other by a 20 foot thick wall with gates on it like the ones between the hives and the areas the humans reside in.
The point of the station is for humans to study xenomorphs in a way to help create viruses and other biological weapons that will only effect them, but so far it's been very unsuccessful due to the aliens' immune systems. On board they also capture drones from the hives to create a new experiemental security system for Weyland Yutani Corp. called a XENOBORG. All around the ship there's a city environment to keep the crew feeling more at home, and there are also various areas that work like greenhouses with jungle settings basically for some nice scenary and to produce fresh air to go along with the recycled air, which will deplete over time.
Away from the station, a yautja (Predator.) ship is closing in on this station. On board is an entire clan, but only 5 blooded warriors, including the clan leader, plan to take part in what's to come. They plan to board the station and hack into the human systems to open the gates between the hives causing a hive war, then to open the gates all around the station and release them into the halls. After this, they will take part in what is probably one of the most dangerous hunts imaginable as the station is put into a 48 hour long freefall that will crash it into the planet LV-426 and kill everything on board as they try to make their own escape.
P.S. I did not make up the XENOBORG as some BS thing... XENOBORGs were first introduced in the old first person shooter game for the PC Aliens VS Predator. They were slow moving but very accurate and durable, able to withstand almost anything when it came to both human and predator firepower... They were a new type of security system from Weyland Yutani that was very effective, but the downfall of them would be that when activated they see everything that moves as an enemy except for other XENOBORGs. They'd even attack members of the USCM when at that time they were only posted on USCM ships in case of hijackings or xenomorph infestations. (United States Colonial Marines.)
From what I can gather, they run on energy reserves of the xenomorph drone that had been converted and a strange sort of battery pack, and the battery pack is directly linked with remotely shutting them down. Not like a "destroy the battery destroy the bugger" thing, but like a "destroy the battery and you'd better be able to outlast a xenomorph drone's energy, because that thing's not getting turned off" thing.

Ok, I hope people actually read this. Otherwise I'm just gonna start the RP half assed and beg people to join XD
I want to do an RP based on Lord of the Rings (yay for cliches!). After the ring is destroyed (yaya cliches!). I have no plot whatsoever.
I was thinking it should mainly be original characters, but if someone really want's to play one Tolkein made up it's fine by me. So... any ideas on plot? I definately do not want to do something cheesy like "Sauron returns from the grave, 0o0o0o0o0o0o, and is out to rule Middle Earth again!"
I was thinking of something along the lines of... oh gods I have no idea. Something GOOD! Haha. So this is a plead for help people. Basically, I want a Middle Earth RP in this guild, and we don't have one. So... help an Amazon out here? domokun

One of the main things during the age of men was that all that was magical was leaving or hiding it self away. Perhaps due to this happening some are having a hard time adapting...and some are taking advantage of that trouble. Maybe there is someone out to kill Aragorn's new bride and queen because she is a rremainder of that magic.
Just a few ideas from your local Tolkien fanatic ^^v
