~Over in the University Section of the Academy is the Engineering Department. It's the lab that Satomi Hakase and Chao Lingshen borrow most often for themselves. As well, Hakase tends to stay here overnight because she is often being too absorbed in her researches. (Like seen in book 9)~ ~Anyone needing to do science related work, research, experimants, ect, would most likely come here~ I'm also going to use this post to help list off some of Hakase's inventions, that way I don't have to repost what they do over and over again, and people can just refer to this chart. This chart will be updated more often as she creates more, or I decide to bring in some from the anime/manga.
'Delta Jammer 7.0' - Originally intended to be used for putting androids and robots to a stop with a powerful electric jolt, it has been redesigned several times over to make up for automatically calculating the correct voltage the moment it makes contact, giving the right amount to short circuit the robot or android, but not cause any permanent damage. Do to the danger that lurks around though, she designed it for use against humans too, becoming a powerful tazer if needed.
'Data-Bank 2.4' - Meant to run diagnostic checks for certain robots and androids, Satomi makes sure to update this little gadget every week to keep track in all the newest forms of technology. It looks a lot like a iPhone, and actually has the same touch-screen features like one.
'Wings of Anubis 2.1' - After the dream of having a jetpack, Satomi couldn't help but try to find a true creation for human self-flight. And after many failed test trials and numerous different blueprints, eventually she gained the inspiration for these from, ironically, a video game. At first she thought the design was still impossible, but with Chao's help, she was able to develop these compact wings that used a self-sufficient anti-gravitational device built into them that equals to the power and weight distribution to the user. Whenever there is a thrust, the anti-gravitational units increase in their weight limit, allowing spontaneous movement in any and all directions when used properly. Due to their design, the wings can also fold down small enough to be hidden beneath her lab coat when completely compressed, allowing them to be portable, although a little heavy when not being used.
'Bird-Eye 3.2' – With six different lenses, this device has a magnification of 10 times, night vision, heat vision, and a recording device that allows up to 15 minutes of digital recording, even while magnified.
'Dyna-fist 4.0' – A classic device Satomi’s always used. Much like a simple ‘rocket fist’ device, it’s been improved several times over to include a homing device for up to 50 feet. The fist sizes projectile, shaped like a boxing glove packs a heavy punch, but only enough to stun and knock out a human opponent. It does have a setting though to increase the power, up to the point where it could put a dent into sheet of metal, but she knows how dangerous that could be against a human, so she’s never used it unless it’s against non living targets.
'Sonic-ear 1.8' – A special hearing device that goes in the ear, much like a tiny hearing aid. Only this can amplify sound by 15x, allowing her to hear even the most silent of footsteps up to 180 feet away. With a built in limiter, the sound never goes too high, so if a loud noise ever suddenly occurs, it won’t be too loud and deafen her.
'S.K.T.L. 4.4' - RESTRICTED INFORMATION
'Uni-troller 9.0' - The universal remote that anyone would want. This controller has been remodeled numerous times over to keep up with the latest technology. The device allows Satomi to use the controller to take control over certain electronic devices and use it to her hearts content. It works on such things as media devices, certain robotic and android components, electronic locks and security devices, and much more! Any devices she has never come across or is a newer model compared to when she last updated the controller though, she will be incapable of controlling. As well, it only has a range of 50 feet, and she can’t leave the device she’s controlling unattended, or it will go back to normal.
‘Body Shell’ The outfit (refer to the picture of the ‘bird eye’ for what it looks like) has a slight modern, western look to it was a pair of tight, black jeans that have a slight shine to them like they were made of a different substance altogether, and the grey, double-button long sleeved shirt shine as well, both made with special nanofibers sewn into them, making the outfit nearly as durable as kevlar, and stopping any injuries she would sustain from getting worse since the fibers were tightly fit around her body and stop the bleeding from any superficial wounds. The buttons adorning the shirt look a bit different, slightly larger than they should be, and they are sewn in loosely so they could be pulled off with a forceful tug. That’s because the 6 buttons are all built in with a smoke dispenser, and when she pulls off the button and throws it to the ground, they erupt in a plume of smoke, allowing her a quick escape. Over it all, she had the typical scheme of wearing a short sleeved lab coat as well, but the coat seemed a bit thicker and not as loose of a material like a normal one, built with a thick padding to prevent and shock damage if she was thrown around or hunt with a heavy, blunt object. Originally, the outfit was designed when testing human to robot interactions if the android or robot could prove to be dangerous, but with the threat of vampires and magi around lately, she’s found it to have a great use for keeping herself protected.
'Chronographer 1.0' - This slightly larger than average watch is all a person will need to keep themselves occupied and to keep in touch with their friends. The watch has a 1-1/2 inch screen, which can access and view any wireless stations. From radio, music, television, even cellphone signals, the watch is able to easilly communicate to others who have one of these watches, and can even send a jamming signal to prevent others from using any sort of wirelress functions in a 100 foot radius. Even more amazing is that it has basic internet functions, a very high quality sound, and it's capable of recording and pictures. That way when one person talks to another, they can actually see eachother, like a video email of sorts. Of course, it has all the basic functinos of a regular watch too like time, a stop-watch, glow function, calender, ect, but that's nothing compared to it's other functions. Satomi's has a few extra things it can do though, such as an improved glow that acts as a flashlight, two listening bug's implanted that can be placed anywhere, a minor air tazer function, and even a powerful self destruct mechanism. She plans to add even more in the future. Current owners- Satomi/Teal, Sosuke/Light gray, Driviline/Blood red.
Vampire-tools ‘Vampire Bane 0.9’ - A very simply and compact device, it’s basically pepper spray but with garlic and tiny microscopic bits of silver. Built with a second button though, it can also be used like a grenade and thrown once the button is pressed, exploding with a ‘splash damage’ effect in a 12 foot radius.
‘Sun-Beam 0.8’ – Used as an attachment to a projectile device/gun, the Sun-Beam is a high powered incandescent flood light, that has been focused into a thin beam rather than a large, spread out light source. The light is so intense that it’s enough to blind a normal human if it’s shined in there eyes for more than a few seconds. In fact, it’s so intense that just shining it on normal skin would burn as well. Against vampires though, it’s sure to burn them far worse.
‘Silver-Fisto 1.2’ Much like her Dyna-fist, this has similar qualities, only it’s coated with a proportionate layer of silver to add extra damage against the undead, werewolves, and vampires.
‘Stake-Delight 1.0’ Shaped like a modern day rifle, the Stake-Delight launches thin, sharp wooden stakes at a velocity of 365mph, capable of distances at 400 feet before they start to loose speed and accuracy. Due to it’s strange type of ammunition though, the weapon can only chamber 8 stakes before it must be reloaded, and Satomi has developed an ammo clip of 8 stakes lined up like a sleeve of bullets. But due to it’s unique size and nature, she only can carry one, maybe two extra clips before it hinders her movement or she’s incapable of carrying other tools.

[Arrived from the Jet Propulsion Club] "Science may set limits to knowledge,"
Busy-busy-busy. It felt like she was just getting more and more projects, studies, and mysteries to solve piling up on her, and despite all her work and the growing amount that needed to be done, not a single one had been finished. She had her jetpack to work on, she had the designs for improving Chao Bao Zi, her robotic assault unit she was designing, but needed Regan and Ku Fei to test and study to improve it's combat performance. Then there were unexpected thins like Xenon, the strange ring Cassie-chan gave her, the rumors of vampires, and Sosuke. So many problems that needed to be solved, yet time just seemed like it was against her...
At the moment, she had the single red pill that she pocketed earlier when Sosuke attacked her, beginning to observe it under a microscope before deciding to do anything to it. It seemed like an ordinary pill really, only the color of red it was seemed odd, and she couldn't get many results from simply observing it. Strangely enough though, she didn't seem to see anything that made this pill beneficial, no vitamins or minerals, or anything of that sort. There was something in it though, and under the microscope of this power, it wasn't enough to tell. So, approaching the analysis machine, she crushed the pill before putting it into the machine, finding it to have a strange smell of copper when she did, only making this seem even stranger.
'Just what was Sosuke-san taking...?' She asked herself as she waited for the machine to analyze what substances made up this pill of his. Whatever it was, she had a feeling it had something to do with why he tried to attack her like that. Suddenly, the machine gave a small beep, and began to print out the results, the main ingredient that made up this pill shocking her. "B-Blood??" He took a pill that contained concentrated blood?? No-no-no, that's just not right, that doesn't make any sense now. But before jumping to conclusions and doubt, wanting to disbelieve the machine's results, she remembered what Evangaline was, and the warning that Regan and Akari gave her about vampires. So then... did this mean Sosuke was....?
The discovery left Satomi shaken and confused, she couldn't think clearly right now, and she needed somewhere to relax and put her mind at ease as she tried to figure out what to do a about this. The bath house… that would help. Yea... maybe a dip there could help her think strait, this was clearly becoming too much for her right now.[Satomi leaves for the Bath House] "But should not set limits to imagination."

[Coming from the Bath House with Xenon] Opening the door for herself, keeping it open for Xenon, she had nothing to hide here unlike the robotics club. After all this room was open to her pretty much all the time, in fact she even spent some nights here during her longer studies where she pulled an all-nighter and stayed up until the early hours of next morning.
The room had all sorts of machines and consoles, mostly for running tests and calculating formulas, seeming to be a lot more organized and maintained than the robotics club room. As well, the place would be far more welcome to Xenon since it didn't have robotic parts and scraps all around the room, appearing to be more like a lab than anything else. "Well, here we are." She announced, her smile still lingering and showing obvious signs that she was feeling a lot better now. "If you could Xenon, just take a seat on this platform here and I'll take a look, okay?" The platform was basically like a hospital bed, only it had no cushioning, meant for something like Chachamaru or Xenon to sit or lay on for work such as this. Since it was such a routine job though, or so she hoped, Xenon didn't have to lay down or deactivate for this. After all it was just a simple problem with her charger cable, right?

[Xenon enters from the bath house with Satomi]
Xenon sat down on the platform as instructed, and opened up her ear compartment. Immediately, the cable fell out - without being attached properly, the pulleys that ordinarily stopped it from falling out didn't have any effect on it, and the plug clattered nosily onto the platform. She pointed inside. "All you need to do is re-wire the end of the cable to the stumps of the wire on the inside of my ear. They are rather obvious, as they are the only remnants of cable I have in my ear." She sat there with her hands folded in her lap, and stared ahead, but then spoke again. "May I make an inquiry not relevant to the topic at hand?"

When the cable fell to the platform she was on, Satomi didn't react to it right away, she didn't see any problem with letting it fall. Instead she observed the situation, moving closely to it and letting her eyes observe every little detail, trailing up the wire and then taking a careful look at the connection the wire was severed from. Xenon was right, for anyone who knew what they were doing, it was a very simple 'operation,' but she always liked to inspect things before jumping into it. Or at least, most of the time she did. None the less though, it seemed like a simple issue she could repair, no problems here.
Taking out the proper tools, actually having a miniature, pocket sized soldering gun in her lab coat, but still having to find needle-nose pliers and an B-electric tester to be sure the wires were connected right and at full power, she was ready to work. Adjusting her glasses, she started with the pliers, not wanting to stick her bare hands in there as she went into to set it into place before she soldered it. As she got to work though, she heard that Xenon had a question, and not taking her eyes off her work, her tone, a little bit blunt since she was focused, she answered. "Of course, what did you have to ask?" As an android, it wasn't often that Xenon would be asking questions, since they were programmed to know mostly everything needed, but Xenon was different, that was for sure, and so, her curiosity striking, and seeing Xenon as a friend, her attention was completely focused on her.

Xenon's eyes looked sideways so that she could at least partially see Satomi as she asked her question. "I do not understand a lot about Humans. Most of all, I don't understand what happens when a person 'dies'. However, the game I have been playing recently has told me something about it, and I would just like to ask about it." To a complete stranger whose understanding of human death stopped at 'when they stop moving and don't breathe', the many messages she received from the media, from people, and particularly from games, resulted in a lot of confusion for her - not everything can be correct. "Is the reaper's game real? If a person dies, do they really get the chance to play the game to win another chance at life?" In some ways, Xenon was hoping that it was real. After all - a human is better than her, and, to her at least, any human deserves another chance. Obviously, she understood that respawning in games and extra lives in the traditional mario-bros sense wasn't real, but this game... it seemed so real to her, so plausible...

((And now it's time for one of Hakase's rants. xD )) 'If a person... dies?' Suddenly, Satomi dropped the pliers, taking a step back for a moment as she shook her head slowly, the look in her eyes showing disbelief. Did Xenon really just ask that?? No, impossible, she must have just been hearing things. For an android to actually grow curiosity on a subject only relative to humans... that means...
'Death, the final solution, the end of a living creature's existence. For an artificial creature to even begin to consider such a thing and wonder about it. To ask a question relating to something that was only objective to humans, why would an android ever dabble in such a thing? Surely her creator didn't actually program her to dwell in such humanistic values and traits. An android was meant to avoid such a thing, because it would never be just that; human. For an android to develop such a trait, such a dangerous mental acquisitiveness was unheard of!! This was impossible, it could never happen. Since an android can never truly 'die', and death was only something that was subjective for their kind, then an android should never wonder about such a thing! Never-never-never!!! But then... what about Xenon? Why was she asking this? Could it be that she was evolving? That she was growing more self-aware in some ways and actually had a marveling interest in the lives of humans? It didn't make any sense; an android should never be mixing itself with same philosophies and dissolutions of humans. And yet....'
Her mind going into a full rant, practically arguing with herself as she tried to figure this out, Satomi was baffled in the end. She just couldn't make sense of it. And yet, Xenon needed an answer, but what could she say? She wasn't good with these kinds of things since she never programmed her creations to ever think about these subjects. She needed to think about this, she needed to stall some time somehow. Turn a phrase, change the question, do something! "Um.. Xenon," She began, picking up the soldering gun next as she began to get to work on melding the wires back in place. "You don't have to worry about death, in fact, no androids do. So, why do you ask?" She did her best to keep her tone calm and positive, but in reality, she was still asking herself questions and trying to figure this out.

Xenon nodded. "I understand that Androids cannot die - and I will be referring to this point in a later inquiry. The reason for this line of inquiry is that in the game, it seems that dead humans are able to team up with a partner to win the game and get another chance to be alive - yet one of the players is alive, but still playing the game..." Xenon paused for a while, as if wondering whether it was actually a good idea to reveal what it is that she is about to say, but then continues, a smile on her face. "If that is so, then I would like to try to find a way to join the reaper's game, to help the humans to have another chance at life. If a living human can join the game, I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to." She was quite pleased with herself for taking this initiative. There was no subroutine for this behavior - it was self-generated using the previous ones, going on the basis that humans are more important than her, and that helping a human who is dying is a good thing - plus the major condition that the game actually exists.

Sympathy for humans... it seems hers was a lot stronger than she anticipated. All androids were supposed to care about them, or at least their master for the most part, and still respect humans at least. But for someone of Xenon's processing, especially since hers was apparently a gaming system as well, hearing these questions from her began to really defy reasoning. Xenon's reasons itself made sense, but should she really be allowed to think that way? Truly her programmer was a fool to allow such mental freedom, it was dangerous... and she experienced that just yesterday in fact when Xenon attacked her.
None the less, Satomi tried to go about this as best as she could without making the situation worse or awkward, still working on attaching her charger as she did so. The task itself being easy, but very tedious..
"It's.. just a game Xenon-san. Games are meant to expand the human imagination for entertainment, not to actually believe in what's happening. I mean, some games are based of real things or events, but overall, it's just fantasy. Even if you want to help those people... they aren’t real." being strait forward and giving a rather harshly true answer, it was really the only good explanation she could think of at the time.

Xenon looked a little disheartened, but shook her head gently - but not enough to disrupt Satomi's work. She felt that maybe she hadn't explained her plan quite well enough."I understand that the characters are not real, but as you said, games can be based on real events. So, I was wondering if the reaper's game - the game that the characters in the game are involved in - is real. If so, maybe I could help the real-life people that are stuck in the real-life version of the game." She paused, as she realised she was going into perhaps too much detail. "Do you understand what I'm saying?"

She just didn't understand... did she? The difference in a fantasy and game to real life, it seemed her creator didn't think about all the angles when he programmed her. Still, how could she go about this and answer her without making her feel bad?
Wait... feel bad? Since when did she start putting those kinds of things into consideration?? She was beginning to lose perspective, this wasn't good. Finally though, after taking a long sigh and trying to finish up on fixing her power cable, Satomi gave an answer that even she didn't expect to come out of her mouth.
"Yea, the reaper's game is real." She began, pausing for a moment as she realized what she was saying. Xenon had a dream, and for some reason, she didn't want to shatter that illusion she believed in. "It's out there, but it's really hard to enter by normal means... especially for someone like you."

Xenon seemed almost to relax as Satomi told her that the game was real. She smiled to herself more than anything, nodding slightly. "I understand that. However, I will keep looking for a way in - those people deserve another chance - they have much more of a right to live than I do." She had no idea that Satomi was simply humoring her - such a concept wasn't really one she knew of - and it was probably for the best. As she sat, her legs began to swing back and forth slightly, like a happy child.

Why did she feel like she was going to regret this decision later in the future? Even though Satomi did this just to keep Xenon from getting 'sad' or on amore professional term; for her emotional database to react in a negative manner. She couldn't help but feel like a mother who was telling a child about Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, and some time in the future when Xenon became more self-aware, she would have to tell her it was a lie for her own good. 'Why do I get myself wrapped up in these kinds of things...?' She asked herself, but still trying not to lose her focus on why she was here.
Finally, using the B-electric tester for a brief moment, simply tapping the metal rods that extended from the devise to her wire, she got a positive reading, showing that the flow of electricity through it was as good as it should be, she put her tools aside and gave a smile. "Alright, it should be all set for you now." She said before adjusting her glasses for a moment and proceeding to put the tools back where they belong. "You know, Xenon, if you ever have problems like this, or even something serious, just let me know, okay?" Not only did she feel like she was the only one capable, but she enjoyed being able to study and learn new things, and Xenon was like a Pandora’s box of mystery to her.

Putting her hand up to her ear, Xenon activated one of the many pulleys in her head, and the cable retracted into her head - just like it should. She smiled as she closed up the compartment and looked at Satomi, nodding. "I came to you because you are the only person that I knew of who would be able to assist me with the repair." She paused, and then nodded. "I believe that I should issue you with a secondary user's guide. If you will be performing maintenance on me, then it will be of use to you. I do not have any on my person, but if you would care to come to my dorm room, I have several available." She smiled pleasantly as she talked, bowing at the end. "Of course, if you have other plans, then I can arrange to deliver one to your room at a later date."

Ah, so her creator was smart enough to program that into her. It seems that even though whoever made her was silly enough to use a Nintendo Wii as one of the processing units was at least smart enough to create back up user guides for optional and/or multiple users. Best of all though, this was her chance to learn more about her. Of course, she was still going to take Xenon apart, albeit that it may not be now, it will be soon enough. But for now, this guide would be a great help for now. It left Satomi with just another thing to add to her already massive list of things she had planned to do, but it was worth it. "Okay, I'd like to see your room anyway, Xenon, that sounds okay with me." She said, returning that smile back to her. Even though she knew it was just in her programming to act these ways, she still couldn't help but feel like she had to be treated like a human, after all, she was a classmate, right?
