My nephew turns 1 year old in 9 days! I made him a quilt to roll around on when he was born, but he's long outgrown that little thing. For his 1st birthday I'm making on that will last him a few years--until he's in a big boy bed, I hope.

I'm doing a rail fence pattern (for the first time) and using a variety of fabrics with black background and colorful prints.

That's an older picture--I've since replaced the 2 brighter, large pattern prints with some that fit better with the others.

I've been meaning to get this started for months, but just finally today cut the pieces out. Keeping in mind mailing time, I've got...4 days to make this quilt from start to finish. Good thing I took the next few days off work! whee ;;

Step one, cutting. DONE!
Step two, lay out the pieces on the floor and make adjustments to fabric placement as neccessary. DONE!

Step three, sew strips together.
Step four, cut sewn strips into smaller blocks.
Step five, sew blocks together to form quilt top
Step six, add borders.
Step seven, baste top, batting, and back together.
Step eight, quilt.
Step nine, sew binding.
Step ten, hand sew binding closed.

WHEW! I've got a lot to do in the next few days, what am I doing wasting my time on Gaia?! gonk

LOL! I know what you mean. But it's fun to share with other's with common interests. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful quilt. BTW, I recognize some of those prints!

I got most (all?) of them at JoAnn's so I'm not suprised. whee

And then we stalled out. gonk 4 stitches into the quilting, my beloved avocado sewing machine broke a gear! crying $200 to fix it? No thanks, I'll buy another one.

An hour at the local sew and vac trying out machines, and I came home with a Jonome Magnolia 7318 and $75 worth of feet and accessories. whee

Too late to get the quilt done in time for his birthday, my progress has stalled out. whee ;;; I did start the quilting, but now it's been sitting there about 10% done for several days... sweatdrop *needs a kick in the butt*

The birthday present became a Christmas present, but I still didn't get it done! redface At least the little guy is too young to know his present is late. whee

I've got about 40% of the quilting done now, but man, I didn't know it would take this long... sweatdrop

Woo! Got the quilting done and the binding sewn on. Just need to finish hand sewing the back on the binding down. My internet went out yesterday so I had no distractions and no excuse not to sew. whee
