Hey everyone! Here is where we can discuss the upcoming Castlevania movie, which is scheduled for release in 2009..here is the rumoured plot summary from IMDb (Internet Movie Database):
It is the year 1691... The land of Transylvania has been at peace for 100 years now, and the peasants and villagers have begun to purge their minds of the memories of the times when the lands were dominated by chaos and shadows, and when the undead walked the earth. However, there are those that remember that the evil Count Dracula returns every 100 years to plague the land, bringing with him the forces of Hell. Thus, one evening, the Prince of Darkness rises and returns to Castlevania, his ancestral home, calling forth his minions to purge the world of human flesh. The people cry out for a hero - someone to defend them from the evil desires of the count. Thankfully, they don't have to look very far, for within the land of Transylvania the Belmont line still lives, as Simon Belmont, great-grandson of Christopher Belmont, takes up the legendary whip called the Vampire Killer, and sets forth on his journey through the darkened countryside to the dark lord's castle. Upon arrival, the young man fights his way through legions of zombies, gigantic bats, and even faces Death himself, but in the end, he makes it to the Count and in a battle to end all battles, he comes out the victor. The price? The evil master places a curse of death upon Simon, which will lead him into a long and dangerous journey in the very near future.
Apparently, there are also rumours of Sonia Belmont being in the movie, although I personally think that's both unlikely and not in keeping with the Castlevania timeline. What are everyone else's views on the movie? You guys heard anything to add to this?

There have been questions arising over the choice of plot for the movie--Why Simon Belmont and not Leon Belmont? I personally think Simon is a good choice, its a simple plot for even non-fans to grasp... Belmont hero kills Dracula...The End.. mrgreen

I can't say I've heard anything on the movie much, but I haven't been keeping tabs on it lately. The rumour about Sonia is interesting; unlikely, but interesting. I'd like to see how Konami would get their creative heads around the plot if she was cast in the movie; they've messed it up and confused themselves and fans enough already.
As for Simon, I dunno. Perhaps they opted for a stupid reason such as; "Well he had a game named after him, so he's special." Or some retard crap like that.

This movie business sounds rather exciting. I love the story behind Simon's quest and the original Castlevania (embellished a bit more in the Chronicles manual) I am also a fan of Simon Belmont so to have a movie with him in it is great. I have to say I am happy if the film starts with Simon because then it is more in keeping with the non-canon extradiegetic timeline of the series, where Simon Blmont started everything.

Actually that is a good point Richter; Simon was there at the start of the game series, so it is only fair that he's at the start of the movie version of the series as well.

Damn right!! original Castlevania with Simon Belmont is awesome! He should totally be the star of the movie... and maybe Chuck Norris can be his side-kick (after all, Noxlu, you need your fan-service.. lol ), who learned how to be an awesome bad-a** from Simon, and as such returns in the sequel to roundhouse kick Dracula's @$$!!!

I will say that I hope Dracula and Simon look like their respective Chronicles designs. Simon Belmont's early barbarian style is not as popular with me as the remade design.

Well...this is really weird. lol I can't wait for the movie to come out. If I have to go to Alaska and wait in the snow for 82 days to be the first in line...I shall see this movie. xD The time line still confuses me. Always will I guess. I think they should make the movie after SotN, but that's just me. It's one of their more well known games.

Ehehe! *tackles Noxlu* whee Oooh I hope the movie is good too! 3nodding It is really annoying when directors get so caught up in their own vision for the movie that they forget what everyone else wants to see! crying I hope they listen to Castlevania fans and try to clarify the storyline a bit! 3nodding
