To me the definition of that is that is no Satanic themes or cussing or anything that you wouldn't say to God.
Bands that are appropriate, you may listen to whatever you want to, but here are the ones that i find alright

They aren't really metal, more hard-rock, but Three Days Grace has appropriate topics in the lyrics...they just curse a bit.
As for Nu-Metal, Old Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory and Meteora. They curse on their new album, and (IMO) they suck on it)
