Not the recent ones like Finding Nemo or Cars, but the more classic ones. cool
They don't make 'em like they used to.

I love the songs in a lot of them.
Like The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Hercules.
I have one song stuck in my head right now from The Aristocats.
You know, the one that goes..
EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT!
The part where it's all the cats basically yelling it at the end.
It's epic. xD

I don't think The Fox & the Hound has a lot of songs in it, but I still absolutely adore that movie.

But my all time favorites are The Lion King (I still cry every time Mufasa dies) & Aladdin (that movie is just so much fun).

So what about you guys?
Any favorites?
Songs, characters, stories, cry-your-eyes-out scenes, anything?

Kimba the White Lion > The Lion King

The thing that bugs me about Disney is that they take a well known thing and Disney-fy it.

Oh well, I must admit I do like their fairytale adaptations.

I watched them all when I was a kid but now I'm into indie animation

Oh, I've seen that movie before.
I remember it being weird, especially that bat, and about pollution and stuff.
I didn't think it was Disney, though. :b

@Lady Glompage: Oh my gosh, I knooowww! D;
I saw it on Disney Channel last month & I cried so many times.
It's a million times worse than Mufasa dying. ):

@Armic: talk2hand
The Lion King story is actually a lot like Hamlet, which probably came before Kimba, yeah? :b

Mulan definitely has some of the best songs. xD
I took the tune from Be a Man (or whatever it's called) & turned it into a song about my favorite sandwich. lol

Oh, I love the Muses in Hercules. xD
& that song Meg sings about falling in love.

Fern Gully wasn't Disney, though an awesome movie.

It always used to scare me. sweatdrop

My favorite Disney movie? Aristocats. Hands down, I've got a suit case with Marie on it, I've got a movie theatre poster for it that I got at Disney World, I've got a collectible figurine of Marie..... Omg the list goes on of the stuff I have for that movie. xd heart

I love most Disney movies. The animated ones and the live actions~
I don't care if I'm "Too Old" for them, they are amazing.

The comparisons aren't based on purely on the storyline. The similarities in storyline is the progression of the lion cub into the lion and the death of his father, the exile (Kimba is forced away by poachers) and Kimba's eventual return to the wild to save the day. Kimba and Simba both start off as small little playful cubs but later on grow to adults having to take on responsibility for the wild.

Not to mention they use many camera angles from KTWL like the above picture.

Disney always takes source material and skews it, to change it up a bit.

The controversy is that Disney has stated that they never heard of Kimba the White Lion before making The Lion King. Which is pretty much impossible cause Disney had a hand in helping the production of KTWL years before.

An early concept working of The Lion King had Simba as a white lion lol

Its just a little suss that there are some really strong similarities between The Lion King and Tezuka's second most famous work (KTWL).

And yeah, Ferngully isn't a Disney film, its a 20th Century Fox one. I loved it when I was a child, I'm a sucker for supernatural environmental stories lol

I didn't know it was that much of a copy cat. lol
I don't know how they can deny it.
But they're a giant company with lots of money, so I guess it wasn't too hard.

I still like Disney, though.
Their animation looks better to me. :b
I guess as a big company they don't need to be original.
& I've never noticed before, so it doesn't really bother me.
