I'm leaving tonight in about 4 hours to go babysit & I dunno how long I'm gonna be gone, but it's probably gonna be awhile.

But I get paid, so it's all good.
It's like 7 or 8 dollars an hour per kid, I think.
I dunno how many tonight, though.
She neglected to say.
Once I had just Jobie, and another time I had him and his brother Albie, and then another time I had the two of them and then Albie's friend.
Maybe it'll be a party this time.
Or maybe I'll just be watching a cat. xD
Who knows?

The first time I babysat for them, it was kinda bad, 'cause Jobie, who is like 4, missed his mom and was crying all the time and wanted me to call his mom for him but she didn't answer the first time and eventually his mom called back and said he could have ice cream, and we watched Tarzan and he calmed down a little. xD
It was crazy.

& this other time, outta nowhere, he flashed me his little baby p***s. D:

Kids are weird.
But again, I get paid, so I can take it.

well, my job this whole summer was an assistant swim teacher,
so i got to help out in the pool by watching the kids, playing games with them, and making sure they're seated when it's their turn.
and i've picked up quite a few things from it. i'm actually glad i learned 'em cause it's going to help a lot in the long run.
biggrin

  • stay positive. don't call them names (even if they fit), cause if they tell their parents you did it, it can cause some problems. example:
    "you're a good girl/boy, right?" > "you're being a spoiled brat!"
don't even say, "you're a bad girl/boy right?" cause if the kid goes to their mom saying, "she called me a bad girl!" and especially if it's a kid complaining, it will seem like what you did is wrong, even though you didn't mean it.
  • when you're talking to them, it's good to bend down a little and be at his eye-level. i'm pretty sure my grammar was wrong there, but i hope you get my point. also, try using /we/us/ours/ instead of /you/yours/etc. for example:
"this will be our toy." > "this will be your toy."
  • put up a few rules while you're there, and if the kid breaks it, repeat the rule to him and make him say it out loud. you could make him promise not to do it again as well, if you can. :]

that's about all i can remember now xD

Sounds like you've got a lot of experience. xD

I already broke one of those suggestions. :b
    I called the kid selfish.
But not in a mean kinda way.
More like a, "Hey, calm down now. That's no way to act."
He was crying about his mom not being with him and I was explaining to him that she was just trying to have some fun with her friends and she'd be back soon.
I said it was awfully selfish of him to want her around all the time.
I doubt he's the kind to tell on me anyway. >____>

    I'm more of a laid-back, go-with-the-flow kinda babysitter, though.
    Not much of a rule-setter.
I don't do it often anyway.

    But I got paid $75! :D

haha it was weird having my job since i'm only a kid myself,
and i'm already a 'teacher' to kids a few years younger than me xD

yeah, that's good. my boss was just really strict with all the name calling
    i didn't like her much
but i don't think a lot of people like their boss at all :b

and wow, congrats! whatcha gonna spend the money on?
i got a raise as well
(well, technically my dad got a raise, but whenever he gets a raise,
he gives me and my sister $50 for shopping!)
it's the most money i've ever held in my life
i got 10,000 pesos (about $200, more or less)
i was JUMPING for joy when he handed it to me
    i mean. cmon.
THATS ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY THE BEARDED DRAGON I WANT AND ITS OTHER STUFF.
    biggrin

    Neato. xD
I feel similar teaching stuff to other students in my classes, but I guess it's a little different.

Well the woman I was working for then isn't that strict.
I think she calls her own kids names, most likely. xD

    Oh snap! O:
    Buy it!
The kids I was watching have a bearded dragon.
It was pretty cool looking, but it seemed to be desperately trying to get out. D:
    The cage was really small.
I hope yours enjoys its evironment a little more. xD
I dunno what I'm gonna do with my money. :b
I've got a LOT of it now, since I got so much for graduation.
Most I've ever had in my life.
Once I cash my checks, I'll have over $400.

lucky kids! they should probably get a bigger tank thing though. xD
i'm definitely going to buy it, but my parents were planning to buy me a hamster
tomorrow to 'practice' being responsible on since i thought saving for the beardie would take months.
but now i already have enough money for one, and my parents still want to go with the hamster plan.
which is fine with me, but i'll be counting the days until my mom lets me give the hamster to my cousins and FINALLY get a beardie!
    biggrin

    buy yourself something nice. ;D
and i dunno if i ever congratulated you on graduating but,
    congrats! 8D
i'm going to be third year high school this year, so that means prom.
and since my sister is at home doing nothing most days now,
she's way excited for my prom, and already designing my dress!
i'm not sure if i want to even go, but ah well, at least my sis has something to do now. xD

    Good luck. O:
    Don't kill the hamster. xD

Well I'm thinking first I'll buy my dad something decent for Father's Day.
& then maybe I can see if my brother really will give me a PS3, and if so, I'm immediately buying Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction.
I've been dying to play that game for like a year now, but I never had a PS3. :b
& then I dunno what I'm gonna do with the rest of the money. xD
I'm not much of a spender.

Oh, I never went to Prom.
I'm not really the social type, so it would've been really lame for me, especially since everyone had their dates and stuff and I'd be like a millionth wheel. :b
I had a cute, form-fitting dress that I got at an auction for $5, but I didn't wanna go.
Have fun if you go, though. [:
I hope your dress comes out pretty. ;O
    PostPosted: Sun Jun 08, 2008 4:22 pm

i'll try not to kill it.
i'm just anticipating the fact that i'm going to have to clean it's cage though.
          gonk

i'm a big spender when i have the money,
because i've been growing a lot this past year, from 4'11"-5'4"!
so i'm running out of pants that actually fit me already D:

thanks! and good for you for choosing not go to prom. xD
i don't think i have much of a choice really, and my sister will probably force her film school friend to go with me if i don't get a date.
which is just fine actually, cause he's hot. :p xD

Yeah, that gets kinda smelly. :b
It's not that big of a deal to clean it, actually, but I've always had a mental issue with it. xD

    Oh, that sucks. D:
My parents buy my clothes, so I'm alright.
    I do need new ones.
& I'm constantly running out of bras somehow.

    Well that sounds good. O:
    I'd go then.
You're getting a dress made and you might be set up with a hot date.
As long as it's not awkward, it sounds like a good time.
    PostPosted: Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:09 am

which reminds me, i have to tell my mom to go bra shopping with me.
i don't get bras so much.
so much numbers and letters that make no sense.
    gonk

    i think i'll go.
i mean, when's the next time i get to dress like a princess without feeling bad about it? ;D

    omg its nimbus
