The genus was named by Carl Linnaeus after Dr. Alexander Garden (1730-1791), Scottish-born American naturalist.
 They are evergreen shrubs and small trees growing to 1-15 m tall. The leaves are opposite or in whorls of three or four, 5-50 cm long and 3-25 cm broad, dark green and glossy with a leathery texture. The flowers are solitary or in small clusters, white, or pale yellow, with a tubular-based corolla with 5-12 lobes (petals) from 5-12 cm diameter. Flowering is from about mid-spring to mid-summer and many species are strongly scented.
Gardenia plants are prized for the strong sweet scent of their flowers, which can be very large in some species. Unfortunately, the strong scent can trigger headaches, asthma, or other reactions in sensitive individuals.
Gardenias have a reputation for being difficult to grow. Because they originated in warm humid tropical areas, they demand high humidity to thrive. They flourish in acidic soils with good drainage. Potting soils developed especially for gardenias are available.
In Japan and China, Gardenia augusta is called Kuchinashi (Japanese) and Zhi zi (Chinese); the bloom is used as a yellow dye, which is used for clothes and food (including the Korean mung bean jelly called hwangpomuk).

Eyes Grayish blue with a hint of green. Almond shaped.
Hair Black with hot pink highlights. This is a good example of how it should be styled (green thing not included). Two strands making up the braids (there are two braids) should be pink. There should also be other pink highlights through out the hair.
Ethenticity Finnish & American.
Brief Past As a small girl she grew up in Finland. At around the age of 11 her family moved to the states. As an adult, she grew into the world of fashion. She loved to design clothes (like her own that she wears) but never what was popular. She had her own style. One day, when she was 20 she stumbled across a strange looking door. Her sense of adventure and curiousness got to her. Upon opening the door she found a portal leading to a land somewhat like Earth but...different. It seemed a bit more peaceful, clean. From that moment on, Syn knew she was to live in Midori. Maybe even open her own clothing store in the future.
Personality
Syn's real name, is of course, not Syn. However, this is a nickname that she is known by widely through out her home town in the states. How she came upon it is really unknown to anyone but her. It seems to suit her however. Fashion and poker are two of her passions. She's very good at both. Though she may seem outgoing at first she is actually a very shy person and rarely makes the first move towards making friends. However, once befriended she's fiercely loyal to those she cares about.

Distinguishing Features Her hair looks like giant leaves. Also, a gardenia looking flower adorns her head. Freckles have made their home across her cheeks and nose.
Personality Naive, Courageous, Colorful
Bio/Appearance Rambunctious and outgoing Kalos is everything to Syn. Kalos loves going to the park and spending time outside. Her flower background seems to lend a slight pull to that part of her life. Whuile her naive nature tends to make her a rather innocent scent she has the courage to take on new challenges that come to her. Colorful in everything she does, Kalos is rarely seen with out a smile on her face. She's always styling her green hair to look like leaves and is always seen with a large gardenia flower stuck in it somehow. Her dress is an ivory white and is sewn together so that it looks like the petals of a gardenia flower. At the neck/collar of it looks like it is a couple of leaves sewn onto. Adoring her wrists are leaf like cuffs. She loves to go barefoot, loving the feel of the soft earth beneath her toes. However, Syn almost always forces her to wear some kind of shoes (simple sandals usually), so there's not a chance of hurting her feet too badly.
